This video pushed me up. Stanford is always my dream T.T. People there despite being excellent, still spread out the dynamic energy, which is the most thing that I like. I love Stanford!!!!!
I don't go to Stanford but feel like I know the culture and campus as well as the students because I am always walking or biking through it. It's a huge beautiful campus and I've always had an enjoyable experience talking to the students there. Super smart kids and highly motivated.
In my country is common to work full or part time while going to uni, time managment is key and also prepping for ur exams weeks ahead during the weekends :)
This is accurate. Stanford wants students to succeed, filters out bullshitters and bad people and what you get leftover are a bunch of happy, nice, good people passionate about learning. It's impossible for such a place to really suck.
I guarantee you there are bad people everywhere. Maybe Stanford has a slightly better culture than others, but at the baseline every university has competitive and cutthroat people. This is just how society functions unfortunately
@Young Young i think by character they didn't mean morally, because it is very easy to be tricked by a bad person if they pretend to be good. They meant having an optimistic attitude and passionate about learning, not at all wage oriented and rather interested to bring some change in the world.
@@jacob9673 Like what? I think HYPM are worse culture wise. I like Stanford's alchohol ban, I like the interdisciplinary nature of the school and how it is anti-red-tape.
@@cansuaygen I don’t know about western countries but in Asian countries lots of us think studying subjects like medicine or engineering help get higher-paid job and higher social status. Let me hope that this really nice video change mindsets of many including me , for me I used to think that Stanford university is a really tough university with never smiling students but I'm really surprised to find them happy and smiling with minds full of knowledge, they are happy with the Stanford environment, for all of those who got an opportunity to go to Stanford, they are lucky they should always thank God !
You should try getting good grades, do extra-curricular and hope you write convincing essays during the application. That's it. If you are meant to be there, you would get accepted. If you couldn't, then no issues, the journey would be useful to grow as a person regardless.

That changed my perspective towards Stanford though. I thought there was a lot of competition among the students between each other but it seems like a fun and friendly environment
@@millevenon5853 well, it's not about it being hard or anything. It's the workload that needs to be done. Readings, assignments, weekly quizzes, and essays, and on top of that I need to study for midterms. This post was 3 weeks ago, I only have one midterm left now.

These people seem very chill and laid back and like your average young adults. I thought Stanford wanted 5.0 gpas, 1600 sat and 35 act score, 20+ ap classes all 5s, an insurmountable amount of extracurriculars and community hours if not some national awards and whatnot and it just seems that most of the students here were just cruising and relaxing through high school given some of their responses and don’t really seem like valedictorians and extremely rich folks. Like your average high school kids who do just fine but are in one of the best ivy league schools ever. “Okayy..” is a crazy reaction for something like Stanford😢😭
Become school valedictorian, 5.0 all years round gpa, perfect SAT and ACT scores, every honor and AP class your school can offer, 5s on all of them, as many arts and electives as your school offers that you can get into, as many extracurriculars as humanly possible that especially demonstrate the field you want to get into. An unfathomable amount of community hours, 1st place national awards, and an extreme drive and unparalleled motivation. A quick question here: Do university students in Japan, particularly top colleges, such as Tokyo University, sleep 8 hours in average?
I completed a graduate degree at Stanford when I was 21 and I slept normal human being hours. I can’t relate to all the sleep deprivation.
They probably don't have good studying/time management skills
