You missed one important thing. The master cylinder cap should be loosened off to relieve pressure when you push the piston back into the caliper. You can blow the piston in the master cylinder if you don't.
Excellent, thank you. I knew I usually forget a step (cleaning the parts and using brake grease) Just never worked on a jeep b4. Always had Chevy vans & Camaros.
great video, process as exactly as shown.... but left out the result of compressing the caliper on the amount of fluid on the reservoir resulting in the fluid spilling out and all over the driveway
EXCELLENT tutorial. Thanks, guys. Did the job (and the rears) using your videos. Maybe a caveat to add in a future edit: what to do if front rotors are rusted to hub. Had to look that up separately. :) Then, add some anti-seize before installing new rotors. Looking forward to doing the next Jeep job using your DIYs.
Outstanding video. Doesn't waste time. Perfect protocol. 1st one took 1/2 hour; other side took 15 minutes on our extra, fourth jeep that we save for when someone in the family needs it. It was fun to work on it with my son. Thank you!
If you live in the rust belt, add a sledgehammer to the list of tools required if you’re installing new rotors cuz they will be rusted on and you WILL NOT be able to break it loose any other way. Also, unless you want brake fluid everywhere, you better remove the fluid reservoir lid and suck some fluid out as you’re pushing pistons back into the caliper. If not, it will either overflow or blow the cap off the reservoir. Finally, the new pads ARE NOT going to slide into place that easily into the caliper bracket. Prepare for a fight. You should also rub grease onto the backside of the pads to prevent noises.
Excellent videos !! I bought the "Improved " design limited lifetime warranty front power window Regulators from 1A Auto. Got 2 for the less than the price of 1 discounted o.e.m.style regulater. Brilliant - very simple and not much longer than your video!!, thanks to your instruction; can't believe how much garages charge!! One note I would suggest though - when pushing the pistons in with the C Clamp, it caused my resevoir to overflow!! Boom!
Great video!! Just did this to my Jeep Commander, wasn’t done for at least 3 years! I used the new Milwaukee M12 3/8 stubby impact wrench to take every bolt off including those 21mm caliper bolts “except for2 of them”and they came off with ease! Did 2 bolts, one on each side with a 1/2” breaker bar and the other 2 with the Milwaukee 3/8 just to see how tough the bolts were on. I had to use a lot of force with the breaker bar!! The little Milwaukee is an amazing tool!! I would highly recommend purchasing one if you work on cars to make life easier!👍🏻👍🏻
I just received the break rotors and pads for my 2002 jeep liberty. I'm in the middle of the installation. I need to know about the rotors . They are directional. I'm assuming the grooves go in the direction of the wheel spin. Good product but installation instructions would be nice. There is definitely a difference between the two rotors I need to know which way the groove should go on the rotors
+Glazier We have a diagram on our listings for these cross drilled and slotted rotors to show you how the veins should go. These should be sweeping towards the rear of the vehicle.

You should be able to just pump the brakes when you're done making the repair to get the brake pedal back. If the brakes still seem to be soft you may need to bleed them. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
Awesome video! I hadn't really done any of my own car maintenance in years, but wanted to get back into the swing of things. The only issue I ran into was loosening those 21 mm bolts on the caliper holder- wow those were stubborn and I couldn't get a breaker bar in there. I used a regular open end wrench and a rubber mallet to loosen those bolts. I also had new slides to put on the caliper holder and since I have an 02, I had to chip away some extra corrosion as well as using the wire brush. My best advice is make sure your pads will slide fairly easy in the slides before re-installing. Needless to say the second went in much more quickly. I saw my Liberty has the drums on the rear brakes- I hear these are a little more tricky to do, so I might take them in to a pro. Anyways, I really enjoyed your help and will keep you guys in mind for future projects. Thanks a bunch!

you guys should make a playlist of all your jeep liberty 2002-2007 videos. I would appreciate it.
Just make a favorites list for yourself, click "Add To" and create a new list for the Jeep videos.
Pretty much my entire saved videos at this point
I second that notion!

Does it matter on this vehicle whether the pad with the 'squealer' goes on the inside or outside the rotor??
Yes and no. Its useful on the inside. Because you can almost see the outside wear. So i think its more by choice.
Very well done tutorial! Simple. First and last video I watched.👍👌🏼

I thought your gonna bleed the fluid while putting the caliper piston into rest position? No grease on the caliper mounting bolt?
Caliper slides what Kind of grease ? Or all greases the same ? I’m a beginner

Do you sell long detailed DVD's for specific vehicles ? If not, you SHOULD ! Great job !
I put a little brake grease on the back of the pads is this ok
Did you forget to open the brake fluid lid or is that not necessary
It is necessary the pressure inside the hose could tear up and it'll be a greater cost to get it replaced it's safter to open the cap
Great work guys.

Hello. Great video there. U helped me save big money. Although the clamp gave me some big moment but was fine. Thanks! Best regards!
Thanks guys! Just did brakes using your video. Really helped.
On an 05 jeep liberty, can this be done with a wheel aligning to fix 2 problems at once, and still cost under $350?
+Rogue Sati Thanks for watching! A wheel alignment will not fix any issues with your brakes.
@@1AAuto Thanks for replying. I'm aware of that, I was asking would it be wise to do both at once and the price not be expensive.
3:53 Apply brake grease. This item is not included in your list of tools used. What type of brake grease is acceptable?
Could you please explain the significance of the yellow dot on one wheel stud? Thanks.
+Roger Owen That it a factory marking.
Just wondered if it was a wheel balancing placement marker or similar.
Thanks for video, is Jeep Patriot 2.0 crd 2008 the same?
