Subaru WRX & STI Occupancy Sensor DIY for Racing Seats - Braum Elite X

  • My friend Sunny installed some Braum Elite racing seats into his 2016 Subaru WRX and decided to purchase a used passenger seat to disassemble and remove the occupancy sensor to use in his new racing seat. This allows you to maintain your full airbag functionality with racing seats without any fault codes or CEL's the proper way.
We found the used seat on eBay for relatively cheap ($300 CDN) and the installation process as you can see took us a few hours - It was day light when we began in the evening and the sun sets through the video.
Feel free to comment if you have any questions.

    Great video just need clarification.
So in total use: 2 sets of resistors/ one for the driver side and one for the passenger, get a replacement bladder or pressure sensor for the passenger side to fit under the braum seat and use some card board n tape. Install seats and ensure battery off while disconnected harnesses.
This all makes sense but maybe I just didn't understand....what harness or connector are we plugging in the resistors to actually??? Got lost, hope to hear back soon!
    Respectfully,
    Joe

Do you need two splash sensors one on each or just one on the passenger side

Hey man i have a quick question, i hope you can help me.
I have a 2016 wrx last night i did a deep cleaning on the interior and i took all the seats out and i disconnected the battery because before anything. I then but everything back on but today when i took it out the air bag light is out with that same occupancy code. I tried to clear the code but my scanner says it can’t clear it at the moment.
Do you believe i messed up something by unplugging them? Or possibly something got wey? I didn’t soak the seats i used the carpet cleaning machine.
I really hope you can guide me through my issue since it related to this video. Thank you

Hey do you have details on how to deactivate the driver’s side airbag sensor with the resistor?

    • @APizzle7
      @APizzle7 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I believe it's a 3.3 ohm resister and, no joke, just shove the two ends of it into the OEM leads. I believe resistors are directional and this is cars have a DC system so you need to make sure current travels through it the correct way but I did this on a 2002 WRX and it worked just fine.

Tried this with my Sparco R333 and it constantly flashes the air bag warning on my screen. Tried multiple resistors at different ohms and no luck, tried cardboard under the sensor - no luck. At this point ive just dealt with it since its been a year already

Why didn't you just install the airbag sensor under the cloth of the new seats?

Not the right one you should use. Should never use a bolt in roll bar or cage

...so it doesn't actually work then. Not likely the springs will get soft enough to "loosen" up. The problem is that you installed it under the foam of the seat, the sensors will see that as pressure and think it's a butt. If you had placed it under the cloth of the seat, on top of the foam (like the stock seat), it would probably work fine. +1 for trying to keep the sensor though.

It all worked out great. The airbags both worked (there’s no longer airbags in the seats) but without this, none of your airbags would properly work whatsoever in the car (and you’d have the airbag code showing 24/7 - not so good.). Overall after a couple weeks the passenger sensor got a bit more worn in, since the seat was just brand new it was so stiff and firm. But overall, all the sensors from the donor seats worked out great. This vids like almost 4 years old though so I’m sure it’s all different now! After my 3 Subaru’s I have moved on 😅
