The most obvious aspect of this bus is the loud beeping doors when they're closing. I suspect that the bus can't get moving if he thinks the doors are open. Then the whole bus lowers the suspension after approaching a stop and raises it back up again. My city replaced simple Mercedes buses with these.
I drive solaris urbino 12 LE, the buses have switches on the left side, you can flip the switches and the bus can drive with the doors open. There is also a button that controls the suspension kneeling, so when you stop at a bus stop and open the doors the bus will lower the right side suspension automaticaly so the people can enter the bus easily, specially the elderly, but that can also be turned off.

Their product of innovations inherited from Neoplan was appeared for the first time in 1999 (at this time, Solaris Urbino was only a brand). In 2001, the "new Neoplan" got the current name, the "Solaris Bus & Coach".
