  • Join our 30-day Kwik Student program that will get you to learn HOW to improve your ability to focus, memorize and read 300% better: bit.ly/3R0fkMp
As a student, you want to understand the information in the shortest amount of time.
There’s a difference between cramming to forget and studying to remember. If the information you’re studying concerns the field you want to go into, ideally you want to retain that information.
Cramming for hours at a time and not sleeping doesn’t help your ability to remember information. If cramming isn’t the answer, what is? You're about to find out in this video.
0:00 Why is cramming for exams not recommended
    1:16 The FAST Method
    2:05 Taking notes
2:40 STOP studying for long hours
    8:07 Pomodoro technique

The pomodoro technique also helps with procrastination. Don't think about for how long you have to studie. Go in to your studie session by thinking, ok.. let"s do one round of 25 minutes and then we"ll see how it goes. This worked for me! I use clockify as a google chrome extension, so I can also track for how long I am studying. Good luck!

I use Minimalist Pomodoro Timer. It's the best app out there. The paid version is also better because it gives clock shifting for AMOLED screens, so no scared of burn-ins.

Speaking from experience, repetition is your friend. Teach what you know, that will move information from short-term or mid-term memory to your long-term memory. Use flash cards frequently, whether you teach others or not. For memorization, flash cards are king. Focus on what you don’t know or understand.

I am going to do the Pomodoro technique--- which is studying for 25 minutes taking a break then proceeding to study for 25 minutes again. I hope that this works, information has been overwhelming lately. I will use this to improve my retention and focus, especially now that I'm a university student. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Jim!

I somehow always studied with the intent to teach.
I would imagine myself trying to teach my sister about something pretty technical that I studied the day before while she has absolutely no prior knowledge on the field.
I tend to unconsciously create conversations in my head all the time since I was a kid.
What's interesting is that I've seen such quote before:
"If you can't teach a subject to a kid, it means you haven't mastered it."

Primacy is kind of like when we eat a piece of chocolate or something tasty we tend to savor the first bite the most. and recency is like how we savor the final bite the most. Maybe this comparison is getting too convoluted at this point, but when we take food home (take brain breaks), we let our stomach's empty (our brains recover) so we can have another first and last bite all over again. Coming up with this comparison has helped me "create," and even expanding on my thoughts in the comments here I hope will help me retain the information in the vid even better. Though I also took physical notes, I have some difficulties with wrist pain. I'm very excited to watch more.
