It's being year since I wrote a comment on a youtube video, but this situation deserves it. I did not swithc on my Kindle for months, did not read much in the last months, plus if I did was a paper book. Today, arranging my room I realized my kindle was with that logo, I plugged it on the charged and wait for hours, nothing happened. Then I google about this and found your video. The trick of connecting the USB to the PC was the solution! (That, and some more patience while waiting to reboot)

You star ! I was so upset that my kindle stopped charging, I thought I’d broken it by sitting in the sun in my garden, reading. I tried your steps : Once plugged into my laptop, pressed the power button for forty seconds, it worked again! Can’t thank you enough 🎉

Thank you. Changing from wall socket to laptop charging sorted it for me. Had to wait about 20 mins, then the Kindle screen came to life a few moments ago. I haven't touch the screen yet, I just want to leave it to fully charge. Lesson is (1) don't let the device completely run down on power (2) I suspect he (sorry, forgot name) is absolutely right when he mentions about voltage difference between wall socket and computer.

Thumbs up 👍 My Kindle paperwhite has been with me for almost 12 years. It's my fav piece of electronics. And only last month, exactly this happens. The battery died, and I could not charge it. Considering its service life, I thought it's a trade-in time. But just before letting it go, I decided to browse for a charging issue. The tip to connect Kindle to PC helped to resurrect my friend! Using a short cable and resetting did the trick. Now, I'm waiting to see if the battery holds a charge. This technology reminds me of simpler times when things were designed to last and not to be replaced every year. Thanks for sharing the tip to keep my sentiment alive 😊

New sub here as love the idea of working with what we already have! My Kindle said "Low battery, your kindle needs to charge before use" but there was NO explanation mark. I plugged it into my wall socket then tried 6-7 times holding the button in for 40 seconds then allowing 20 minutes and repeating. Then I charged it overnight on my laptop and tried again, no joy. Great idea of yours - you are a genius! I went to Amazon and sent an e-book to my Kindle - five minutes later, it came to life!!! Thank you so much!

Dude! IT WORKED! Couldn't believe it. My old Kindle D000901 Has been sitting idle for maybe 4 years and battery was ostensibly dead as it wouldn't recharge. Tried your suggestion doing a slower charge via the USB to PC. Got the amber charge light after your 45 sec trick on the slider button. At first nothing happened on the screen after 1 hour. Then suddenly after 7 hours it started coming back to life! The message shifted from the battery to a USB cable icon saying if I want to read I could keep the cable attached but eject the kindle from the PC. I disconnected and was able to pull up the full menu! Battery showing about 50%, so will continue to slow charge. So awesome. THANK YOU!

So far, I have let my Kindle Paperwhite battery die on me twice, and both times, I had trouble getting it running again. First time, it was plugged for days before I realized it stayed on the Battery image and didn't charge, despite the yellow light being on. So I researched and reset it for 40 seconds and then it was fine and charging again.
This past week your video truly helped me for perseverance lol, but also additional googling was necessary in my case as the light was not turning on: I was travelling and used a plug that I'm sure I have used before, but I had it plugged in at like 10% and I noticed the light didn't turn on and wondered if it was charging. Low and behold it was not and died completely by morning. So, after hours of plugging it and trying to get it to work the next day, on a laptop or wall, I succumbed and bought a 10$ cable and plugged it in a laptop and the light turned on, thank god! It worked! I left it for 20minutes before resetting and then the image changed to the screen saver instead of the battery! The only thing is, for the reset, I had to plug it in the wall because, on the computer, it kept trying to pair with the computer instead of charging. But my Kindle is SAVED! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! (also sorry this was long, but I hope this comment helps another Kindle user, or even myself later on haha)

I just want to say that in my case, the light didn't turn on so after trying the 40-sec stuff several times and using every USB socket from my laptop, nothing happened.
So I opened the kindle very carefully (from the upper sides and the top it is very safe, use an old credit card) and then I disconnected the battery (it is a bit tricky because the connector is glued to the motherboard). Connected the battery again, and voilá, the light turned on when plugged and then I had to follow the steps on the video a couple of times, and I had my kindle back alive!

Don't really thing this is going to do anything for my kindle. Mine is not showing the battery like yours is--mine is still showing the picture as yours did when you said at the end of the video saying it now works. Again, mine has a picture/ad on it. When plugged in, there is the soft yellow light & when left for an hour or so turns green. However, when I try to turn it on using the button, it just turns off again & won't stay on. So guess this video helped a little letting me know that his problem was not the same as mine. Back to the drawing board.

    • @DADDELIVERS
      @DADDELIVERS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

So sorry to hear this Monica. It might be a dead battery... but some people in the comments have suggested some other fixes, pasting them below but the biggest ones are trying a new cable or holding down the power button for 45 seconds...
      Hope something here works?
👉 I did have to try a few different cables but I simply left it over night plugged into my laptop after following your other steps and it’s working as normal this morning!
👉 reset it for 40 seconds and then it was fine and charging again.
👉 after hours of plugging it and trying to get it to work the next day, on a laptop or wall, I succumbed and bought a 10$ cable and plugged it in a laptop and the light turned on, thank god! It worked!
The only thing is, for the reset, I had to plug it in the wall because, on the computer, it kept trying to pair with the computer instead of charging. But my Kindle is SAVED!
👉 After a few minutes of charging nothing had changed, so I held down the power button for 10-20 seconds and it just started up. It's odd, because I never had issues charging it from the wall when I was using it frequently up until about 5 years ago.
👉 I tried all you suggested and it eventually worked by plugging into laptop, deleting a couple of books and holding button in for 45 secs.

      Hi Stephanie
Thanks for the kind comment and I'm so sorry to hear this - it's the first time I've heard of something like that.
The only thing I can think of - and you may have tried this already - is if while it's plugged in, going into settings and updating the kindle to make sure it's completely up to date
(There have been a lot of Kindle updates recently)
I'm not sure I can think of anything else without it being a problem with the battery... but it would be good to know that the firmware it's using is the most up to date version.
Good luck and let me know if this doesn't help as I'm sure someone on here might have another or better thing to try.

I had the same problem with my Paperwhite. I changed the USB to AC adapter and that charged the Paperwhite. I was lucky I have a large selection of adapters. I suspect I had the cord originally connected to one of the fast-charging adapters and that's why it wouldn't charge.
