    This video would have saved my baby girl’s life this past May. I was 29 weeks and had an appointment with my OB a week before. He walks in and asks if the baby moves a lot. I told him well she really doesn’t move much. There were no follow up questions after that. He measures my belly and checked her heartbeat. He said she sounds perfect and that some
    babies just don’t move too much. I felt relived with his assurance. A week later I decided to call the doctor again because I felt that the movement was really decreasing and I just wanted an ultrasound to make sure she was ok. At that point, he sent me for an ultrasound and I found out she had no heartbeat. It was the worst moment of my life and I’m still heartbroken and know this pain will never go away. Just wish I had been a better advocate for my baby girl.

      This is absolutely horrific and I am SO sorry this happened to you but please understand that if you become pregnant again, the chances of this occurring again are low based on this unfortunate experience. My new website will be up in two weeks. At that time, I will reach out to you and provide you with some tools that I believe, will help you. There are also some online support groups that you might find helpful. I plan to reach out to them soon myself for purposes of rendering support. Thank you so much for sharing your story because I'm sure it will help someone. I'm sending you a virtual hug.

    I lost my daughter in October. I went to my normal weekly appointment and her cord pressure was abnormal, so they set me up for a follow up the coming Tuesday. I went to the ER down the street at 2am Saturday because she just didn't feel right, she wasn't moving as much as normal. The doctor there found her heart beat, told me to keep my ob appointment, and sent me home, said they get bigger and run out of room. I wish i would have known more at the time.

      First, let me express my deepest condolences on the loss of your love ones. Regretfully, the ER doctor didn't have your entire history because you were clearly high risk. Although I need to update my videos, please share this one with someone if you think it will help them. If you get pregnant again and have questions, please ask them on my website, www.smartmothersguide.com or on my Facebook page.. Thanks so much for your comment. I'm sure it will help someone.

    my daughter has a friend that was pregnant with her second baby and when she was just a week from delivery she was suddenly not feeling much movement. She went to see her doctor who told her that was normal,but she still knew something wasn't right and went back to the doctor. Her doctor kept doing tests and sending her back home for a few days.Finally after doing an ultrasound it showed no heart beat.The baby was still born.The umbilical cord was pinched

      I"m extremely sorry to hear this. I know this is a delayed response but feeling NO fetal movement is not normal, even late in the pregnancy. The baby is growing out of room but you should still feel movement.

    The fact that you listened to your own instincts and sent mom to hospt. Seems so simple but with a lot attitudes of we want as little and or no intervention as possible. The horror stories where people are told to just trust their bodies is insane. Thank you for being a doctor who goes the extra mile.

      Aw, thank you so much for the kind words! I DO believe women should "trust their instincts but then VOICe their concerns with their physician or midwife. I encourage all women to please speak up if they have concerns. If you're pregnant, you're carrying a "gift" in that womb. Your unborn baby needs you to speak up.

    My son (first born) I hadn't felt him move much for 2 days...didn't think much of it bc I did feel him move just not much. Decided to call my OB couldn't hurt. She told me to come in immediately and did an ultrasound..her urgency made my anxiety skyrocket..but there he was moving away on the screen..I went on to deliver a healthy baby even though he came a little early. Though everything was fine....I was so happy I had an OB that took these things seriously.

    At 37 weeks my water broke, I went into labor, labored 12 hours, baby seemed fine and there was a heartbeat, dr. came in eventually and did a forceps delivery, and the baby was born not alive. Umbilical cord 2x around neck but not tight, Dr. said. This seems atypical from most stillbirth stories I've heard where the baby dies and then you deliver. My question is with what happened for us is this still considered a stillbirth? Or do you call it something else???

    I lost my baby girl 15 days back, at my 28 weeks.. I had covid during my 9th week but no symptoms.. I recovered soon... My doctor says baby's death may be due to post covid complications... but i don't believe it as I was asymptomatic...also it had been 2 months since I was tested positive.. Then Anamoly scans, down syndrome test everything were normal... Now, I had normal delivery and asked to visit after six weeks for checkup and also to know why baby had died inside womb... It's very disturbing and confusing on to know ur baby is no more and reason is unknown inspite of having a healthy pregnancy reports and diet..

    I wish you were my doctor for this pregnancy, its my third one after two loses. One miscarriage and stillbirth.. I went in to the doctor because my baby kept hiccuping and she said it was normal, but i told her the hiccups were there for about two days straight almost non stop, she sent me home, not even a week later the baby moved very violently and the next morning i was feeling very slow in and out movements when i put my hand on my belly. I went in to the hospital and there was no heart beat..my baby had the umbilical wrapped tightly around his neck when i delivered him...I wish my midwife would've listened to my concerns..now im almost sure that my baby's oxygen was being cut off and the continuous hiccups were a sign that could've saved his life and my heartbreak..

      lesa tuaefe i was 33 weeks, when i delivered my baby his umbilical cord was wrapped tightly around his neck, which the midwife stated insufficient oxygen could've been a possibility but my husband and i did not send him in for an autopsy so we will never really know if that was the exact cause..Also even though i was feeling that in and out movement the day i found out there was no longer a heartbeat, the midwife said most likely the baby had passed away the night before when i had felt him turn violently, and that the movement i was feeling was sort of like a muscle spasm due to my body preparing for delivery.. I would count the 'kicks' as actual significant movement even more than the hiccups.. l hope everything goes well this time for me and you as well..

    My stillbirth could have been prevented. They found my baby was born still at 32 weeks due to pregnancy induced thrombophelia. I have recently come to know that symptoms of this is severe pain in the mother's limbs due to blood clots. At 6 months gestation I was experiencing severe pain and swelling in both my hands and arms but was sent home by my doctor stating that it wasn't anything to worry about. Also in hindsight, I wasn't feeling my baby girl moving very much within the last few weeks before she died. Is there anything I can do about this negligence on my doctor's behalf? She is now retired.

    • @DrLindaOBGYN
      @DrLindaOBGYN  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Amy. First, my condolences regarding your loss. Losing a baby is devastating to both the parents, extended family and believe it or not, in most instances, the physician. My recommendation regarding your question of negligence is to consult with an attorney as liability is not my area of expertise. What I can recommend is having a full work-up by either a hematologist or high risk pregnancy doctor (a.k.a. maternal fetal medicine specialist). Regretfully, these tests are not part of the prenatal routing screening unless there is a family or personal history suspicious or outright conditions. May your daughter's memory be blessing and may this never happen to you again.

  • @Ashley-yx4du

    The problem sometimes is not that the mother has not notice the change of pattern prior to the tragic, it is that the medical fields lack doctors like you who listens and the system is too strained with resources and is flawed. I voiced my concern to two doctors and none of them listened, they checked the baby’s heartbeat and sent me away, and my baby died the very next day.

    • @DrLindaOBGYN
      @DrLindaOBGYN  ปีที่แล้ว

      OMG, I'm so sorry that happened to you. Do you think an advocacy course for pregnant moms would be helpful? Different things should be done, depending on how many weeks you are. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

      @@DrLindaOBGYN Thank you Dr.Burke. Yes, I think through my experience I realized that pregnant mums can feel so powerless in the process especially when we lack access to the right information and devote all our trust in whoever we were seeing at the time. we need to know that we have a voice and to be taught to use our voice more effectively when we don’t get doctors like you who listens. I also really appreciate that you are one of the very few doctors who actually would say some stillbirths can be prevented, we just need to do more to prevent it, whereas a lot of doctors I have come across just believe it’s not preventable and if it happens, well, there’s nothing we can do, just try again in one year’s time.

    I know this video is old, but I am currently almost 27 weeks pregnant with my first child. My question is how often should I be feeling movement throughout the day? I have been a nervous wreck throughout my entire pregnancy because I have been so scared of miscarriages and stillbirths. I get very scared if I don’t feel my baby move for two hours

    • @DrLindaOBGYN
      @DrLindaOBGYN  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment. First, have you discussed your concerns with your OB professional and if so, what advice have they offered? It's okay to be concerned about your pregnancy but do not be paralyzed from fear. Fear is not your friend. Follow whatever recommendations your healthcare provider makes. After 23 wks, you should feel your baby move for at least 10 minutes in a 4-hr period. I hope this helps and try to enjoy your pregnancy. It is one of the most meaningful moments in your life.
