Oh wow Cheryl!! This was the first recipe I made from your vast array of meals, but tonight I decided to make your Mac n cheese slow cook meal. Words fail me, but it is by far THE best I’ve ever tasted and surpasses everything else I’ve eaten. Comfort food at its very best. Adding the mustard powder really lifts things to another level for me. Whilst I served it on its own, you could serve with peas, sweetcorn, even baked beans. I managed to get five portions out of this recipe, and might even have done six. What a fantastic way to save money on your food bill and cutting down on your energy bill too. I’m now going to go through the rest of your channel, meal by meal to see what I like. Hope you are keeping well and family too. A Happy Hogmanay to you all.
Great to not only see a great dinner but to hear a lovely Scottish accent….you reminded m3 of my Ma and believe me that’s a compliment Watching from Paisley Thanks Mrs
Just got through cooking and finishing off enough for one and GOD did I enjoy it! Didn't have the butter or the cream cheese, did have whole milk bacon and some Dairylea cheese slices along with a good half block of Cheddar. Was worried while it was cooking that it'd be runny but the instant I got it out of the pot it was the perfect consistency, so amazing job!
oh Cheryl, if this was posted yesterday your US fans could have made it for dinner tonight as it’s Thanksgiving here! 🤣 it’s getting made next week though 😎
Thank goodness for a British slow cooker Macaroni Cheese, with none of the weird American ingredients in there! I'm gonna give this one a go. And mention of a wee bit of Scottish thriftiness is always welcome these days too. 😄
This looks amazing and so indulgent! Would never have thought to have made it in slow cooker and I will be making this as my hubby loves macaroni to be saucy x
Hi Lynette! 😊 So easy...but if you give it a go, remember to stir it well a couple of times during the cooking process (really important) to stop it sticking to the bottom ❤
Aloha Cheryl, hope you are doing well. Saw this video the day you posted & decided to make it today. I may split it half & add a can of diced tomatoes to one of them. My mother always did it when I was a kid. I hadn't made it that way as an adult but recently saw it in a cook book from the 1960s & thought I'd give it a try. It immediately brought me back to childhood.
Love it :) cheers from an expat in Texas. Might I recommend one popular over here? Saucer is a roux combined with half cheddar half gruyere, splash of Dijon, splash of Worchestershire, pinch of nutmeg and cayenne, fold in, bake with a bread crumb topping. Also excellent as a potato dish.
Was looking for a Mac cheese slow cooker recipe! Love the view of Arran at the end!!! Haven’t been for 10 years yikes!!! I am 48 and when growing up we stayed with my aunt in sandbraes whiting bay twice a year. Love it!
I love the idea of this method. Can't wait to try it. Thank you! What do you mean, I might not want extra cheese at the end? Oh yes I do! No such thing as too much cheese!
Oh wow wee...that looks delicious. I use cheddar and mozzarella in my mac and cheese. I've never used Red Leicester. What a yummy meal especially during the cold winter weather. Xx
Yummy and cheesy . I was so mesmerized by all the cheese sauce I forgot to share. I'm gonna let it play again while I share. I'm loving your facebook page as well.
Thank you so much I really really enjoyed watching you cooking this Mac&Cheese, it’s really really awesome and looks so delicious too. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I'm.a bit behind watching this video, just watched your meals of the week & saw this , it looks absolutely delicious. Loads of cheese is never enough, I love 🧀. Looks lovey on its own as a meal but bet it would be lovely with some gammon or a chicken breast wrapped in bacon, 🥓. I must get a slow cooker mine has broken
New subscriber....omg this macaroni and cheese looks soooooo delicious...m I bought a slow cooker and haven't used it yet...this will be my first recipe trying it
Cheryl, How are you my love? Your macaroni macaroni looked so creamy and so delicious. It looked so good hun. Well I love slow cooker cooking in winter . Warms the kitchen and smells good too. Take care and stay warm love. ❤️🧣❄️☃️
Looks scrummy. i will alter it a wee bit. id add a tablespoon of dried italian herbs for a bit more depth. and i would bake a batch of tiny meatballs and dunk them into the sauce. and indeed it needs a bit of garlic bread. Cheers
@@WhatsForTea I figured was just making sure. Thank you for answering. I love your videos!! Hello from the USA, Florida. I’ve been to Scotland, it was beautiful, definitely want to go back!!
bacon goes so well with cheese. also chopped ham or salami would work or tiny meatballs. bake them. put them aside when brown. add chopped onion to the pan to sautee and mopping up the meat flavours. add the onions to slowcooker. splash of water in the pan to deglace it and ad that to the slowcooker aswell. put the browned meat in the last moment to warm thu.
Cheryl, I tried cooking this twice and both times, I could've stood in it. I stirred it every half hour, and cooked it on low for 2.5hrs. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
It looks too soupy for my taste. I prefer my Mac-n-cheese thicker. I have a recipe to make it in the Instant Pot, one for a one pot stovetop version, and a baked version.
You know nothing. ... A slow cooker uses very little energy... For example the Panasonic model I own uses 230 watts , and that is on high .. that means in two and a half hours ,the most it can use is 0.575 of a KWH of electricity ... Even with the high price per KWH here in California, doing the math is 0.575 x 30 cents = 17 and 1/4 cents to cook the Mac and cheese...... That is nothing .
@@jamesduke4957 How much do you know about British energy prices? Don't give me your "math." And say I don't know anything, when you live the other side of the world of what WE we're talking about. Obnoxious and spoke before thinking. Guess the country.
I like some mustard powder added to mine too, brings out the flavour of the cheese
And just a bit of paprika too.
Cayenne pepper adds a nice flavour and heat too.
Someone already said it….but I have to add that this looks like the most indulgent version of Mac & Cheese! 😋

So creamy! I’ve been looking for a creamy Mac and cheese. The little pitcher you has the evaporated milk in was cute 😊
It's a wee mini milk jug 🙂💞

Happy Thanksgiving, Cheryl and all here! The dish looks scrumptious!

looks very nice good for winter food
Oh thank you for this recipe. Kids especially love Mac and cheese 🧀
I made this today for our tea and it was a great success. I excluded the evaporated milk as I didn’t have any. Thanks for the recipe.
New Subscriber! Made this yesterday using sharp cheddar and it was delicious! Making your ham & pea soup today. Thanks for the meal inspiration!

I love this. But as I need to lose weight what would you suggest instead of cream cheese? thanks so much for your yummy recipes. Keep me inspired. 🥂
Hello Cheryl I find evaporated milk too sweet what can I use instead cream/milk/creme freche any tips please love your videos thanks SB
Making this today omg 😳 looks amazing
an excellent excuse to whip out my slow cooker! looks very indulgent... but then again at this time of year what the hell!😋
Looks delicious to me.✔ I'll probably add my usual garlic and onion powders (in equal parts), a bit of dry mustard, and a dash of cayenne. ✔
Yes always add the mustard it enhances the cheese
I can't wait to try this thank you!!!
That looks so yummy ❤️
This looks lovely as always xx

You can't go wrong with mac n cheese and cream cheese.
Was the pasta cooked when you put it in the crockpot or just straight from the box/raw?
It's raw Judy :)
@@WhatsForTea I figured was just making sure. Thank you for answering. I love your videos!! Hello from the USA, Florida. I’ve been to Scotland, it was beautiful, definitely want to go back!!
Looks delicious 😋😋😋 but stirring it on between is not the idea of a slow cooker 😓 so not sure it's for me xc
Cheryl, in lieu of evaporated milk, what can i use??
Do you boil the pasta first or just put it uncooked?
Do I need to preheat the slow cooker before I add the ingredients?
Cany think of using evaporated milk in mac/cheese
So was the macaroni pre cooked?
My mom would add a dash of garlic powder
Just made this, turned out thick and claggy, followed the instructions exactly, any idea what went wrong?
I do my (normal) Mac n Cheese with bacon and red onion. I'm guessing one would lightly fry it before adding it to the slow cooker mix.
Great idea Patrick! 🙂

@@Mrs.Karen_Walker Our local butcher does a great smoked bacon. The flavour infuses the cheese beautifully.
Will have to make this but reduce the qty as there is just the two of us :)

How nice vlog
Is the pasta precooked before you put it in the slow cooker?
No, raw straight from the pack 🙂
I tried to make this a week ago, but all the sauce evaporated and all was left was mostly pasta .
Any thoughts?
Is this cooked pasta, did you cook it prior to putting it in the crock pot. 😛🍴🍽
2 /5 hours to cook mac & cheese mine only takes 30 minutes just by using the gas cooker from start to finish
But it costs more to use the gas than a slow cooker…
@@frugalitystartsathome4889 not for 2.5 hours
Wee bit peely wally looking.
It looks too soupy for my taste. I prefer my Mac-n-cheese thicker. I have a recipe to make it in the Instant Pot, one for a one pot stovetop version, and a baked version.
Just put less milk in, as Cheryl said.
I know that I’m going to be absolutely slaughtered but - I can’t stand Mac and Cheese ?!! Sorry !! It looks lovely but not for me/us !! 😂
Hi Cheryl from Spain. Sorry but that is just way to sloppy for my taste - I prefer my macaroni cheese to be much drier than that.
That’s why Cheryl said to put less milk if you prefer it that way.
Leaving a cooker on all day won't save energy costs. I love you, but your crazy.
It's two and a half hours my friend 😆 How many hours are in your day? 🤣 Love you too! ❤
Listen to the video Lee
