I actually considered giving it Thick Fat for a little bit, but decided that it was too "natural" of a pokemon (ex, its too much of a tree in my opinion). Maybe if i remake this video in a better form ill consider it more :)

It's funny how players call Abomasnow terrible when in the older games weather abilities were rarer and were permanent throughout the game. There is a reason why Tyranitar was and still is an iconic competitive pokemon, and that is solely on Sand Storm being such a powerful ability.
In Gen 4, Abomasnow wasn't taken seriously at the time and was sent to UU as a result. Overtime, it slowly became popular to counter offensive staples like Starmie and Suicune. It's weakness to Fire-types like Heatran and Infernape wasn't much of an issue either since both got worn down hard by residual damage anyways. Even funnier is how it inadvertently contributed to the recent Froslass ban with how obnoxious it was to face under Hail with Snow Cloak.
Gen 5 was a similar story, but very recently newer players started experimenting with it on weird Stall and Offense teams. Magic Guard Psychics and Cloyster absolutely loved Hail for chipping Steels and slowly but surely Hail became about as dominant of a playstyle as Sand and Rain were, and overshadowed Sun completely.
Oh yeah and as a side note it was actually allowed in UU on both gens until people realized how obnoxious it was alongside Walrein. With Snow Warning, Walrein was basically Ice-type Alomomola with how much it healed under Hail. Abomasnow itself was terrifying to face since it was impossible to switch into and it hit hard with Wood Hammer and Focus Punch. It either got banned to BL, or had it's ability complex banned to neuter it.
When you think about it, Game Freak always had some weird policy of neutering broken stuff in concurrent generations, and permanent weather was yet another casualty of this. Nowadays I think having temporary weather and the oversaturation of weather abilities were the reason why it ended up nerfed so hard. But I think that is all the more reason as to how massive Abomasnow was back then, that GF had to neuter permanent weather just to balance it.

You know, soundproof has something to go for Abomasnow when you consider that there is a move such as Torch Song. It ain't much, but might catch your opponent off guard.

Abomasnow actually already has Leaf Storm, which was given to it in Gen 8. As far as its offensive moves, it does have a good range of STAB options as is (except a physical Ice move to match Blizzard's power; why it doesn't already learn Ice Hammer while Tinkaton can is beyond me. It's dex entry in Sword even mentions it swinging its arms like hammers!).
As for Abilities, Snow Warning already fits it perfectly and gives it a decent niche in competitive (although that niche was eventually taken over by Vanilluxe and Alolan Ninetales). Sap Sipper probably _would_ be one of the only Abilities that both fit lore-wise and could see clear usage over Snow Warning. I'd even scratch Water Absorb from the list just so Snow Warning could continue to be guaranteed on wild Snover/Abomasnow in-game, though having more options would obviously only help it competitive-wise.
So the only thing really left that I would add are stats. On top of the buffs in the video bringing it from 494 bst (less than Orbeetle...) to 537 bst (way more respectible, closing in near mons like Blissey, Electivire, and Snorlax), I would push it to 550 bst with a Sp. Atk boost from 92 -> 105, giving it more meaty Blizzards to throw around that are now closer to Vanilluxe's power than Alolan Ninetales' power. In fact, we can go the whole Mega Abomasnow route and lower its Speed even further to 30, putting those points into more Sp. Atk to equalize its Attack and Sp. Atk as well as making it the strongest Snow Warning Blizzard spammer.
If anyone is a bit iffy on Abomasnow reaching 550 bst, then take into account its lore and its status in games such as X and Y (with Team Flare targeting an Abomasnow for capture instead of other strong Ice mons like Mamoswine) and compare it to mons like Florges that just randomly have 552 bst.

I feel like this would still be very weak. Because of its ice typing, Abomasnow struggles being a defensive hard hitter since it can’t tank any hits from common fire types or fighting type monsters that are currently dominating the meta. And since it’s not fast enough to do anything it struggles to hit anything either. Even under trick room this Mon still struggles in coverage as it only has ice and grass moves and a very narrow moveset.

    • @IStillPlayWhite2
      @IStillPlayWhite2  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks for your thoughts! I shouldve clarified more in regards to Abomasnows changes... I think he would fit best under a trick room scenario in lower tiers. Im interested to see what you think about his coverage, as I personally think its decent (Earthquake/Earth Power, Focus Blast/Low Kick, Outrage, Water Pulse).

Just found your channel, your three videos so far have all been pretty interesting!
I can see Abomasnow having more attack than Sp.atk, but at the same time it is kind of a shame to not amplify its ability to use 100% accurate Blizzards right off the bat; I'd transfer 8 points away from its 115 attack and give them to Sp.atk, or go all out on the special attacking route.
A physical version of Blizzard made specifically for Abomasnow could work if taking the physical attacking route, it would make sense as a powerful sudden strike that's harder to avoid under hail/snow.
Still, great video, and keep it up!

Personally, I'd swap out sap sipper for refrigerate and water absorb for thick fat. Refrigerate would give it access to some extremely powerful ice moves, and thick fat sets would allow it to potentially survive fire type attacks.
Remove another 20 points from speed and put 10 into attack and 10 into defense (20 speed, 125 attack, 95 defense). This will help it hit harder on trick room teams, benefit from trick room better, speed tie torkoal for setting up weather, and take hits better.
    Give it access to:
    Return/frustration (These would compliment refrigerate)
Spiky shield (since it's built as a powerful trick room attacker, it will likely run protect on a lot of sets, so giving it access to extra chip damage would be a nice bonus)
Iron defense (compliments body press sets and increases longevity on more bulky sets)

In my opinion, I would boost it Physical Attack and Hp stats and maybe it physical defense and reduces it Special Attack and Speed, Abomarsnow looks like a bulky heavy physical fighter than anything else. For ability, Snow Warning is fine. What Abomarsnow is needing is a signature moves to capitalizes on his stats and other attributes, some sort of move that gets more powerfull as his health is lower or when he takes super effective.

If Ice types resisted flying that would probably remedy quite a bit but not everything wrong with the Ice Type. Like let it be neutral rather than resisted by fire types. But honestly, it should have access to Freeze Dry. I don't see why the Pokémon Company is so stingy with distributing that move. Or heck giving it the ability Reckless could make its wood hammer feel like a real threat or just Sheer Force.

I suppose Water Absorb and Sap Sipper could give Abomasnow a chance to switch in. Abobmasnow still has a bunch of weakness and few resistance. Maybe the solution is to instead of focusing on defense is would be to focus on Offense. If it was given Huge Power, the Pokémon might be able to carve out a niche as a wallbreaker on paralysis teams.
