- Krishnan Guru-Murthy: ‘After days of speculation over her political future - the veteran MP Diane Abbott is ‘free to go forward’ as a Labour candidate in the general election, according to Sir Keir Starmer.
Ms Abbott was given back the Labour whip earlier this week, after the end of an internal inquiry into controversial remarks she had made about racism. In something of an about turn - Sir Keir described her as a ‘trailblazer’ who had forged a path for others to come into public life.’

This Diane Abbott saga is a disgrace and confirms without a doubt that Starmer is dishonest, not ruthless. He stands for nothing and has no value system that drives him as a leader. She should stand as an Independent and be free of him. It says something about the culture of the UK that with the destruction and degradation committed by the Tory party, Starmer cannot be elected without acting like them. As a result his government will be a little less chaotic and disruptive, but just as destructive as the Tories. If you love the UK, you should be in mourning right now. I’m sad about it. If you don’t like the UK, you’re observing this with glee and schadenfreude, thinking that karma is being served by this slow, unrelenting, often imperceptible slide into the abyss.
She publicly said racism towards Jews doesn't exist. If he kept her, they'd call him out for turning a blind eye against anti-Semitism. If she dismissed her, they'd say he's pushing out the left of the party. He can't win but should have held strong and pushed her out. He's caved to election, union and party pressure to bring her back.
The Abbot/Corbyn far-left crowd had their chance and they got us the worst election result in history. Starmer has a much more radical manifesto than his critics give him credit for, which is palatable to the British public, and has put Labour in the best position since 1997. If you support the centre-left as I do you will be cheering when he comes to power in July.

I am not going to be voting Labour anyway, so I guess it doesn't matter. But Diane Abbott and her incompetency and her race baiting was a pretty large reason I stopped supporting the Labour party. Hearing they were dropping her was the best thing they had promised so far. But typical Starmer and his reversing of decisions, of course she is back. 1st good thing Starmer has done has been reversed, his reputation for going back on himself is restored, my interest in Labour back to zero, not that my interest was that high even with Abbott gone.

That leaves Reform who don`t have what it takes to win a general election this time around. However if they get enough votes they will knock the tories into third place for the next election in four years time and probably go on to win. It`s what damage Labour will do in a four year term. And if Reform don`t get in next time I can see us becoming an Islamic state within the next ten years as both Labour and the tories will allow sectarian voting.
