WeatherScan Local Forecasts with Hurricane Irene

- Features forecasts from up to every 5 hours to show the updated radar/satellite of Hurricane Irene's progress. Forecasts 7 and 8 were only about an hour apart because of went on to be a 5+ hour power outage would impact Southern New England. (Some areas may not see power until next weekend)

We lived near the south east coast of connecticut, I was 8 when this happened. We used to watch this channel when a big storm was happening and I remember this being the last thing we saw before losing power and not getting it back for about a month. Also RIP weatherscan I miss you
I was 10 at the time of Hurricane Irene. I had to cut my vacation in Myrtle Beach SC short, and came back to PA (where I live) a day early, mostly because airports were closing up and down the east coast, and had we not left early, we would’ve been stuck in Myrtle Beach, and my first day of school was a couple days later. From Irene, I had a 51 mph wind gust and over 8 inches of rain. I had a couple Tornado Warnings in my county as well.
Today is August 27th 2022, its been 11 years since Hurricane Irene happened

I experienced Irene when I was 6. Even THEN, I was into weather. And I'm here today, I'm 9.

How does weatherscan know your location?
I know this is late, but Weatherscan and The Weather Channel (main channel) on cable systems with local forecasting are run by IntelliSTAR, a computer that inputs local data for the channels. Each cable headend in an area has an IntelliSTAR system that is specially designed to list information and forecasts for their area (ex: Comcast in the Boston area will have an IntelliSTAR in their headend designed to list information for their area). On Satellite and Streaming TV services, it will only run on a national feed.
I was 7 during Irene, I remember how much of a deal people took it as, I evacuated from my NJ coastal home. We got like nothing. Now I am 16 and went thru sandy and lost everything from that.

I was 10 during Irene. I experienced a 51 mph wind gust and over 8 inches of rain from Irene. I was 11 when Sandy hit, and Sandy no doubt was much worse. I didn’t lose power during Irene, but I did for 4 days during Sandy.
I was in Miami, FL when that Hurricane hit New Jersey. I live in New Jersey and I went on a cruise in Miami.

I had to leave Myrtle Beach SC a day early. I got home from Myrtle Beach SC August 26, 2011. Irene gave me a 51 mph wind gust and more than 8 inches of rain.
