Local On The 8s Music: 'Eye Of The Storm' by Stephen Arnold Music
1:15 New Orleans --- no report
Chills
Man I remember watching that stuff as a kid.
Same
The Storm Alert song was so good back then, I wish they had kept that one
It sucks. I mean, the current Hurrican music is fine, but Storm Alert was near perfection. It also sucks Storm Alert wasn't used for other major events like Irene or Sandy.
@@Zarugoza5969 I agree, Katrina’s music was amazing
Agreed....the one they use now sucks IMO
I watched the storm come in while watching the Weather Channel from here in California. I was 8 at the time.
1:16 New Orleans: No Report
Me: Oh god.…
New York City: ._.
Probably because of powe
Power
Or because the equipment was broken.
One of my earliest news-related memories is of watching Hurricane Katrina plow into New Orleans on The Weather Channel when I was 8 years old. I watched the whole thing with my family from California despite knowing nobody from the affected region. The hurricane was just that monumental.
I was 34 back then. Dealing with a recession . Couldn't find work in seattle at the time. So got a job in west texas . People I worked with survived katrina. Now I'm surviving this covid hell
I miss the old Weather Channel
Miami: OH FLUFF! New Orleans: No Report, So OOF Us. New York City: What, Happened To New Orleans?
God damn sounds like a boss theme.
Underrated comment
I was 4 years old when Hurricane Katrina hit. I was living in Kosciusko and we lost power. We also had some damage as well.
Still live in my hometown to this day. It rarely floods there.
Thanks for this video. These never get old. Classic! Jesus loves you John 3:16
It’s a shame they stopped using this
I love it when the weather channel changes to storm alert, its like a whole different thing when a hurricane is coming, I LOVE hurrcaines, been through two! Katrina and Wilma =)
The Real reason this song is played is because it's only when Hurricanes are near the U.S.
New Orleans: No Report
WTF
I was 5 years old at the time, and somehow I still remember what all went down.
Thunbs up if you survied Hurricane Katrina
I gotta say, this is really cool for 2005. I do miss the alert music. Boy that were some great memories with the current tempatures and crap. I remember when the alert music was on when one time Mesa-Phoenix got a Tornado Warning. Yes I do remember the seven beeps when the severe weather message was on. Boy good times. Goooood Times.
man i miss the music. i was 11 when this happened
I was born in 2008 but I watched all of the Irene coverage
I was 5 years old. I've never heard of it coming here. Aww....sad that Katrina name is retired ;(
I was 3 months old when this happened
It's just the weather channel theme but for some reason is played all over the country when the storm makes landfall.
Music used during Katrina on TWC:
Eye Of The Storm(LOT8s): Stephen Arnold
Lawrence Of Astoria(Intro): VideoHelper
TWC 2004 SAM(Alt Intro): Stephen Arnold
August 29th 2005 was such a sad day because not only did Katrina make landfall but my grandfather also died that night :( :(
I loved this song. I was 11 years old then.
I was only 5 when Hurricane Katrina hit
I remember it hitting in 05. Everyone in NC was freaking out about the gas line and my parents filled up tanks of gas and the lines for gas were to the streets. I remember my mom beforehand saying "Louisiana is gonna get hit very bad, pray for their safety". I remember people on the bridge on the news dying of dehydration and pres. Bush flying out there. Such a sad time.
Indeed but I didn’t know it got that bad wow
The storm alert opening is a lot better than 2004-2005's, and the local forecast is way better.
When the Weather Channel played this music without a voiceover, it will get your attention. Hey, trouble is coming.
Voiceovers were not done for the national satellite feed. The voiceover only applied to cable systems with IntelliSTAR installed at the head-end.
I have a feeling they will be playing this soon. Because Hurricane Dean may hit Texas as a major Hurricane.
@AudiR10Guy It may be because of the power outages from Katrina
I was 9 when Katrina hit. I remember at 50 past the hour, the hurricane flag would fly on the screen with that orchestral swell for the Tropical Update. That's when I knew things were serious.
i wasn't born yet but i got vibes from this.
It's been 6 years to the exact day today. Amazing.
This makes History
GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!!!!
The best of the weather on the LDL Bar showing is: Dallas-Ft. Worth, Denver, Detroit, Greenville, SC, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Sacramento, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.
That music freaks me out some. Everytime I hear that song play I'm like OH CRAP must be a Cat 4 or 5 Hurricane getting ready to destroy.
As for Dean, yeah Catagory 5 isn't too far now. It's 150 MPH now and that could increase to 160+ tommorow!
I was 10 years old when Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana, I lived in Texas.
I was 5 years old but I remember watching this. Scary times
It's called Eye Of The Storm
This song gives me chills when I hear it. All I can think about are all the people who are in danger or even dying as I listen to the music and watch my local forecast. But I guess that's the whole point of it.
Wow, 16th anniversary crashed by Ida today🌀
Holy I was 1 year old
Well, I'll be a ding-dong-duddly-dang!
I was almost 1 years old
its typical Weather Channel when a hurricane hits the US, its called Storm Alert, they even do it for tropical storms now
Michael Enfield yeah it’s pretty cool
Rain and Windy was the forecast...can we say HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT?
THIS SONG RULES!!!!!!!!
In my video game Undercat & the Gang, I am going to make Hurricane Andrew be a boss & im going to use this song for his boss music.
Oh shit I was 0.7 years old
I remember when this played all too much when Katrina and Wilma were about to make landfall. No voiceovers or anything. You know things were going to get serious.
Ernesto and Alberto are the only Tropical Storms they went into storm alert on, everything else was a hurricane (Isabel, Charley, Ivan, Frances, Jeanne, Dennis, Katrina, rita, wilma)
100 in Miles City?! WOW! That's hot for Montana!
This song gives me goosebumps especially when there is a massive hurricane in the forecast!!!!!! I love the old intellistar's!!!!!!
If only this were avalible for MP3, and (or Ipod download), because the song is beast!
New Orleans: No Report
Creepy. As. Hell.
New Orleans: No Report
Damn
I heard the women talking in the video saying if you evacuate, you're safe, but you don't feel very good about what's really going at your home.
this music makes me think of some old music... idk why
I was seven when this happened.
I was 10 when I heard about this and watched the whole coverage in 2005
This was a few weeks before I was even born (September 2005)
I was in Baton Rouge, Louisiana when this happened and i nearly shit in my pants! SO MANY TREES FLYING!
0:00 my tv station fox 23 in Tulsa in 2006
Where I live (Texas), I was heard that Katrina would hit our little apartment in College Station. Nothing happened. IIRC, there wasn't even a EAS test going on.
Its the storm alert music.
I wonder what the lady at the end was about to finish saying.
I remember… It was related to being evacuated away to a hotel/shelter and not getting information on what’s happening at their home since local TV is also quite blind to what’s happening due to technology limitations at the time.
Damn, that's some strong memory @@VideOH
Who's the artist that made the music for this?
Stephen Arnold. Song is called "Eye of the Storm"
I was in this storm and i crapped my pants plus they playyed this song so many times
lol i love how they mentioned nothing about katrina they're like look at this, this, bye, have a great day.
If I recall, this played when a major hurricane made landfall.
Yup that Eye of the Storm song always got me hype because that was the sign of a hurricane coming
Said Hurricane was Hurricane Katrina
Never since Camille had anything like Katrina beared down on the U.S. coast, so it was hard to get graphics and music to represent the true danger.
I live near new Orleans always have I remember Katrina like it was yesterday people still are rebuilding the storm was devastating
I remember this. I was 11 when that happened.
I was 3 ½ damn.
2005 Really started my interest in hurricanes.
It was a hot as hell summer, lol. Wow the whole entire country was above 65°F, lol. The average temperature for the entire country was about 86, lol.
the hd local on the 8s of today looks futuristic
So is The Weather Channel gonna play this song again for Isaac?
Holy fucking shit I was 6
You spell like you are 6.
I was only several months old
You notice about hurricanes that when they are going on the rest of the nation's weather is quiet
They actually do! Just now (Sept. 1st 2008, they are using it because of Gustav.
ida anyone?
*Siempre pensaba que la nube gris se veia como el sombrero de una bruja :v*
I was only 10 when Katrina hit New Orleans.
I was 4 turning 5
Harrison Peloso I was 4
@Serenity Now he ment the effects while the eye actually went over western Mississippi
Rip new Orleans
New Orleans - No report
Wat.
To me, 2:12 to 2:20 is the most intensifying part pof the music. It creeps me out every time
Seeing that thing on radar is frightening.
I like the music though, it sounds like someone going off to a huge war...which these people were, with a giant hurricane.
They may no longer use that tune anymore since they always keep changing their music, lol.
I wonder if they will play Storm Alert for Gustav.
I also started school the very day
Wow that storm was closed to use
The music is pretty apocalyptic.
i was in the very top right of that tornado watch, in a city called newnan.
Who Cares, Ninja691? It's all about Hurricane Katrina, not some damn hair dresser appointment!
this may be a tough question to answer but which was worse the haiti earthquake or katrina?
i was in that hurricane. power was out for about a month.
even tropical storms?
