Came here from aeromatic. I didn't like the texture of hot coffee with cold ice, so I let it sit for a couple of minutes and it came out well. Slightly diluted but I think that's the ice.
I used to do a similar thing to this with my Aeropress. Ever since I tried James Hoffmann's recipe, it was a game changer for me. If you're not using light roasted coffee it may not be ideal for you though. 22g fine ground coffee, 240g water right off the boil, 4 minute steep, swirl, gently plunge over 160g of ice, stir till ice is melted, top up with fresh Ice
I'll give this a try! Any particular reason why the steep time is 4 min instead of 2.5min as with Hoffmann's method? Is it because of the 160g ice dilution you want a longer steep?
@@samuelprima yeah, because of the increased ratio of coffee to water, the extra steep time helps bump the extraction up. James does briefly touch on this in one of his Aeropress videos. The one which came after the ultimate technique video, if I recall
Great recipe, really enjoy the flavor (fellow coffee dad here)!! Have you ever noticed an issue in the glass cracking/fracturing from going extreme cold (filled with ice) to extreme hot (near boiling water)? Just curious, concern in the back of my head.
@@goodcoffeevibes9360 I actually made it this morning. It was a little bitter. I'm going to try either going up on the grind or going up on the water. I was using a baratza encore at #11 but may go up to their recommended setting of 14. A little half/half brought the bitterness down. Otherwise it was a good first attempt.
@@goodcoffeevibes9360 Finally had the occasion to do it since sunny weather is slowly coming finally :D Awesome, awesome recipe for iced coffee i absolutely love it, i used to put hot coffee in the fridge and wait for hours but it always felt wrong and not good for it so doing it the Aeropress way is great. Since the Aeropress makes very concentrated coffee, using ice cubes to dillute it is actually genius. I tried it with medium roasted beans by itself, super tasty, cold coffee tastes amazing. I also tried with darker roast coffee with some brown sugar on top of the ice cubes before pouring the aeropress coffee on it and some milk for extra tastiness, tastes just as good as all those canned iced coffees and at least you know there's nothing but freshly ground coffee, sugar and milk in it You gave my Aeropress a second life with this recipe since I enjoy hot coffee with my V60 more but the Aeropress makes insanely good iced coffee, thank you so much ! :D

Hey Gregory, yeah if it's a little bitter, make sure you have some more ice or water in there. Or yeah, make the grind a bit courser.
Really excited to try this :D thanks
