Hario Skerton Pro Review: Best Manual Coffee Grinder
มุมมอง 24K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hario Skerton Pro Review: Best Manual Coffee Grinder
Just use a hand drill…
You may think that with all the effects and everything in between your video would look more professional and edgy but frankly, it is just too much and unnecessary
Man, for 3rd day in a row its 33 during the day and 26 Celsius during the night. I definitely needed this recipe. btw........ help !!!!
Came here from aeromatic. I didn't like the texture of hot coffee with cold ice, so I let it sit for a couple of minutes and it came out well. Slightly diluted but I think that's the ice.
Why buy a manual grinder if you are going to connect a drill to it?
because we already bought one and dont have the money for an automatic. And we all have drills--thats why. AND THATS WHY YOURE HERE TOO!
I cool tip, I tried and now do this with my 1ZPRESSO Grinder and a Bosch GO 2, it looks more sleek and works fine. :-)
OMG! Stop the stupid noise. Couldn't click away from this video fast enough!
Ryobi drills are clunky asf. I recommend a Milwaukee M12 drill which is much lighter weight and has plenty of torque. Set the drill speed to 1, set clutch position to 3, attach a 1/4” hex shank socket driver, and a 7mm socket to drive the burr shaft.
In this fast paced world, it's good for the soul to slow down & make a cup of coffee BY HAND.
im so glad im not the only one. i was thinking this is a way more utilitarian use of my money than buying a fancy automatic grinder. i dont have a grinder and i dont have a drill, so why not get the extra bang for buck while saving counter space?
Many simply convert the manual grinder with a drill to go cordless electric, I've been doing this for +5 years 😂
Woulda been nice to actually see the grind you ended up with at warp speed. The thing is made for hand grinding....
WE ARE HERE BECAUSE WE WANT TO SEE IF THIS THING WORKS...THATS WHY YOURE HERE TOO
Personnaly I use the wheel of my car to move the hand attachement.
Thanks alot guys trying to explore my city ❤❤❤ much love
GOD loves you enough to send HIS only SON to save you and if you repent and turn from your sins and be baptized in THE NAME OF THE FATHER, THE SON and THE HOLY SPIRIT. ((if you haven't )
I can see you chopping up some cocaine back in the day.
I tried it with my drill but it kinda struggles. If ı crank up the power all the way it does turn but it's way too fast. If ı try to turn is slowly it just does not have enough power to crack the beans. How much power does your drill have? I also have the skerton pro model btw
How much milk did you use?
yeah how much?
I just tried this. Really fantastic. It turned out great 👍
Thanks for the review…a lil late to the show lol but something I wanted to try and you convinced to go over the edge and try it out!!!
Ok I just did this, but on low and slow setting so I don't brake the grinder. I watched this to see if it would brake the grinder. I feel like ceramic would brake somehow. I'm not with about the shaft since hario pro is well supported on the shaft.. Though, the support is plastic so it would probably brake..
I wish this video was 30 seconds long. No music needed. No video editing. Bleh. Sounds like this was made for a 7 year old.
hello nice review how much clicks for moka pot??
Melted mine this way…but it was fun while it lasted.
I wish I read this comment before I melted mine! 😅
Like someone else said very pretentious. You need to humble yourself.
Done the same thing with a Gator grinder, works great.
Great recipe, really enjoy the flavor (fellow coffee dad here)!! Have you ever noticed an issue in the glass cracking/fracturing from going extreme cold (filled with ice) to extreme hot (near boiling water)? Just curious, concern in the back of my head.
I think i must have that
Nice cup of tea you made there.
Ha ha. I thought about doing also. Good job. My current low end Ascaso commercial grinder has a stripped nylon gear that drives the burr spindle. A small screw somehow got in grinder and froze it thus stipping gear. Maybe I could modify a VSR drill core to make a direct drive? or just wait for the new nylon gear to arrive.
Yo B-money, you NEED to wet the filter first fam! Come on now...
Wow 🤩 thank you for sharing this piece of art!!
This is f___kin' hilarous! Thanks
Dude this is surprisingly good. I didn’t expect much but it’s great best aeropress latte I’ve made
Everything in this video is wrong. Terrible music (and unecessary), the camera is too close to the content, the camera guy never heard about focus, doesn't show the coffee being ground or how it was in the end...
Poopoo on u
Horrible music.
Good recipe! Very similar to this one: aeroprecipe.com/recipes/home-press-by-benja I guess yours is a bit stronger due to the 2 extra grams of coffee dose and 15 seconds of brewing time (and 5gr less of bypass water...). Have you tried brewing with even higher doses (30-35 gr)?
This video gave me motion sickness.
Hoffman would only wear a hat outdoors, never indoors or backwards.
😂😂😂😂😂
Asshole
Okay, good idea for speeding up the grind without killing your arms. But the drill motor is overkill. Sure, the first obvious choice since it has an adjustable chuck, but calipers (or a bit of trial and error) will quickly show you that the hex head of the drive shaft on the Hario Skerton Pro is 7mm. So grab a 7mm nut driver and your lighter impact driver, Bob's your uncle! Or if you have a well made cordless screwdriver, that accepts 1/4 inch (shaft) nut drivers, then you have the simple solution that should work well but also fit in a kitchen drawer when not in use.
Nice video! However I wish you showed us how the grind sizes and their homogeneity are with this coffee grinder! Still had a good coffee vibe! 🤪
I used to do a similar thing to this with my Aeropress. Ever since I tried James Hoffmann's recipe, it was a game changer for me. If you're not using light roasted coffee it may not be ideal for you though. 22g fine ground coffee, 240g water right off the boil, 4 minute steep, swirl, gently plunge over 160g of ice, stir till ice is melted, top up with fresh Ice
I'll give this a try! Any particular reason why the steep time is 4 min instead of 2.5min as with Hoffmann's method? Is it because of the 160g ice dilution you want a longer steep?
@@samuelprima yeah, because of the increased ratio of coffee to water, the extra steep time helps bump the extraction up. James does briefly touch on this in one of his Aeropress videos. The one which came after the ultimate technique video, if I recall
I wouldn't recommend this, I did this and bent the shaft in the grinder and lost all chance for a constant grind. It was a cheap grinder (java press off brand)
Yeah, it’s sort of a last ditch effort if you don’t have an electric grinder and you’re too lazy to manual grind 😆
LOL
If you’re too lazy to turn the handle, just buy an electric burr grinder or a better hand grinder.
Electric burr grinders are huge.
What the hell is a fluid ounce? What’s that in ML, or MG?
One fluid ounce is about 30 ml
Ml mg??
Hoffman wouldn’t be happy with the mixing of imperial and metric...
lmao totaly what the hell is 2 ounces i may need to convert this to grams
I came here to find this comment 🤣
Samesies, why the hell are you mixing!
Pretentious and cringe
I'm still trying to find the perfect Aeropress method that works for me. I do basically the same as you (except I pour in the water using my other hand but I guess that may only make a small difference) but now I have stopped expressing the air before I invert. That way it doesn't seem to drip when I take the filter 'cap' off. Other people have recommended chopsticks to stir if you have lost the Aeropress stirrer (you may have some lying around that you could use). I tend to stir 10 clockwise and then 10 anticlockwise but there are so many TH-cam videos with numerous variations of this plus previous World Aeropress Champions have their own special way of stirring. I did once do 9 clockwise and 9 anticlockwise but there was hardly any difference although I thought I could detect a few more floral notes in the coffee but it was probably just a placebo effect. The main difference is that I always wet the paper filter but I see you do not do that.
Hey! What don’t you like about the current recipes you’ve tried?
@@goodcoffeevibes9360 Pouring the water with the other hand wasn't the issue (what a fool I must look to suggest that!). But thanks to you I now have the perfect cup of Aeropress brewed coffee. I finally realized you used the funnel to pour in the coffee and I was using the scoop that came with the Aeropress. I have now reverted to the funnel and ... brilliant!!!! Many thanks again.
Hahaha ok glad we could help
thanks for the recipe man, gonna try it tomorrow morning 👍
For sure! How’d it go?
