Yummy! Turkey bone broth! Thank you for sharing Darren!
Thanks for watching Roberta it is sooo good
Great idea about the dog food! Making sure nothing is wasted!
So true! Plus it always puts a smile on my lads face when he sees it going into his bowl.
Never thought about turkey broth but why not, it should have the same effect as chicken broth. Thanks for sharing Darren and hope you have a blessed week my friend.
I actually got the idea from a comment on the pork bone broth video Tony, lol might have added to my choices of turkey for Christmas Supper.
Have a Blessed week Brother
Mom used to feed the dogs pet food out of hers she would add little rice to it
Beautiful broth
Great video
I am definitely a waste not want not person Patty, Plus Bobby really loves some mixed with egg or yogurt, helps the kibble go down
That broth looks amazing!
It is some amazing stuff for sure, I have an Asian dish coming soon that uses this as the base
Thanks for sharing brother, I bet its great straight from the jar.
It does but I have another little trick with it in an upcoming video that is awesome
@@DownunderFarmandForge cant wait
I feed the Buzzards and Red Foxes with the old food. A lot of folk just throe it away.
I like to reuse it Micky, but feeding foxes is a big no no for me, seen the damage they do to lambing sheep too many times
@@DownunderFarmandForge There are no sheep here in Huntsville, Texas. If I can reuse leftovers I do, if not then fatten up those critters, haha.
@@MickyBellRoberts each to there own mate, I just prefer foxes as a pelt
@@DownunderFarmandForge Those whi raise chickens have to be careful.
@@MickyBellRoberts seen them climb a 6’ fence go through a plastic tarp, slaughter a pen on chickens and then climb back out again. As I said prefer them as pelts mate.

Cheers Nic
Serious inquiry. I've never water bathed anything meat related, it's a big no no in all American canning books. Do you know something I don't? I can alot they claim shouldn't be, but always with pressure. Lucky Bob! What a tasty treat.
Hey Jenn the idea of the pressure canning is to increase penetration of the heat through something solid like meat, there are people that do 3 Hours waterbath for actual meat. Personally I would rather freezer or make preserved meats Bacon etc than can meat at all.
With the broth it is a liquid so penetration is complete at boiling, and despite what people thing the jar and the lid in the waterbath canner are actually a pressure vessel so the is an increase of pressure for the cooking process giving a higher than boiling point effective temperature to the contents of the jar. That is the method that Pressure canners utilize to get that higher "safety" factor, but it is measurable amounts in the pressure canner, not so in water bath as in waterbath pressure depends on lid seal to pressure ratio and everyone sets ring tightness different.
Lol long story short I am fine with the method on a liquid but not a solid, one of those things that is not tested by USDA so they do not advise to use it. Usual tests of sealed, smell and taste along with it being something that will be boiled after opening will keep you safe but as always personal choices as to which way to go.
@Downunder Farm and Forge 1st, lol I just knew you'd give me your full opinion 😉 this is good to know. If you have no problems w water bathed broth, and you solidly have a reason, I say bravo. So many people are afraid to can, mostly because they have been made afraid by another 3 letter agency playing boogeyman! Thanks for sharing!
@@jennjohnson-richards5829 lol Jenn you are a friend so of course you get honesty. The trick no matter what you do is to know why things work the way they do, once you know how things are safe you can work within that.
@Downunder Farm and Forge now that should be printed on a t-shirt. Sadly the lack of common sense is now an epidemic. People just wanna be entertained, I'm here to learn!
My canning instructor says boil three hours 😮
We each make our own rules and decisions on what we find as safe practices. Being a liquid with no solids in it then a lower time will bring the core of the jar up to temperature with no dramas at all.
No, it is not safe to can bone broth using a water bath for 3 hours. Bone broth is a low-acid food, and low-acid foods must be processed using a pressure canner to kill all harmful bacteria, including botulinum spores. Botulinum spores can produce a toxin that can cause botulism, a serious illness that can lead to paralysis and death.
The USDA recommends that bone broth be processed in a pressure canner at a pressure of 15 pounds per square inch (psi) for at least 20 minutes. This will ensure that all harmful bacteria are killed and that the bone broth is safe to store.
I do not live in the USA, why should I worry about what the USDA says?
Next up when I use both I use it for cooking, which means that is gets heated to a safe temperature, negating the need to worry about it.
