Great job Jason, thanks for covering this, especially rekeying tips for the B660. Seems like the B660 is the lock the designers always wish they could make, but usually get shot down for cost reasons (e.g., no more shrouds on the B60s). Thanks again, always entertaining and educational/helpful
I saw a video of yours from 5 years ago about Schlage deabolts. Holy moly. So I'm an automotive locksmith. I haven't rekeyed a deadbolt in 15 years. My neighbor asked me if I could rekey his Schlage deadbolts. I have all my old resi lock crap in a trunk I haven't opened in 10 years. Bring my Schlage keying kit, followers and impact driver. I take the deadbolt off the door and what do I see? OMG it's held in by a damn clip. I wasn't expecting that. I get the clip off trying to take the cap off that holds the tailpiece on the plug. I see it's staked on. You gotta be kidding me. These are 7 figure homes too. Somehow it occurred to me and I'm not that smart that maybe I could slide the follower over the talipiece. Yup. Went smooth after that. I asked one of my guys who still does resi and commercial when did they get rid of the brass nut and pin. He thinks about 5 years ago. I can't believe Schlage came out with such crap. Is he right about 5 years ago? I can't even find that part or a plug with that tailpiece attached. I can imagine if those stakes let loose it could cause a lockout. I complain my Curtis 15's and Framon machine are obsolete for cars. Now it's all programmers and CNC key machines. Damn going to stay in my lane and shut up. Making more money off the new stuff but damn if it isn't a PITA. Have to carry 5 different fobs for every car. lol
@@rogerhupp3115 1,3,5 I forgot to correct myself (because I added the 60 core well after the initial filming) I think they did that shortly after introducing the new crap metal cylinders to compensate 😂
OMG! First comment. No disrespect to you but... Yawn. I love your channel but my company decided they no longer required my services so my interests have changed. Your videos were invaluable to me while at my former employer buy now... If I showed up at your shop on a slow day would you give me an insider's tour of the city? Drinks on me including you significant other.
Very interesting to see the changes and how slight modifications to things can improve the security of a lock significantly. Thanks for this video

Right on! Now I can stop stop calling them “ those regular Schlage’s and “ those fancy Schlage’s” Thanks!

As Paul Harvey would say.... And now you know .... the rest of the story. Thx Jason.
Great Timing on this one because i have 3 of the b360 to install next week.
Great video! Thanks!
Why not buy the multilock mtl800?
I Have 2 Schlage B660 Satin Chrome On My House For Many Years. I Like The Solid Housing.
All cylinder cores are the same length? Not including the tailpiece? Just want to make sure
I've been getting a lot of B60's with 6 pin cylinders now. Seems to be the new standard.
Doesn’t the B60 come with spool top pins in chambers 1, 2, 3, and 4?

The standard B60 can be ordered will the brass 6 pin cylinders. Part # B60N6
@@roblafay7121 yep, all of them can be ordered any number of weird ways, I’m referring to the “standard” off the shelf stuff
Schlage B660 = deadbolt on steroids, I like it!
As locksmith I always drop those small thumb turn screws.
@@Locknerd right there with ya!
Great comparison.
I think the trim ring on the B660.
Is not steel ,brass or bronze.
@@DLowe-ms7wt you are likely correct, my track record on identifying metals in video is pretty bad ;)
Jason here n Tennessee consumer grade is a fancy defiant or rb from Lowes. Sad. James estep locksmith co
Surprisingly, some of those RB locks can be a PITA to pick. I don’t know if it’s the horrible tolerances or what.
...the bolt she tells you not to worry about...😒
Your thumbnail jumpscare me
