Personally, I feel that the gothic tendencies are welcome year-round on this channel. Who needs to have the self constraint to be spooky in only October? Not me. Definately not me. Great video as always!
This came out so cool! As a guy learning to sew and tailor, I love watching your videos. Thanks for always bringin us the 'A-Tier' spooky content, Bianca!
I love how she makes both entertainment-heavy and technical-sewing-heavy content. I've learned so much about sewing from watching, but I also really enjoy watching her skill & talent as a filmmaker grow & evolve.
What I love is that even if someone doesn’t make their own patterns, it is possible to learn so much from these videos to understand about how clothing goes together.
The neck is a really fun, subtle bit, but it's that yoke and gathering that really have me intrigued! I've been feeling inspired by Victorian stuff for spooky season, because who does spooky better than Victorians? So I've been wanting to make a goth blouse and couldn't think of a way to do the yoke without it looking too old-ladyish. The angled yoke really makes it spooky and old-timey without being old-fashioned (if that makes sense at all). Love it! Maybe I'll even find time to do it...
Thank you April! I did a modern/Edwardian top last year with a different yoke that I need to experiment more with again in an even spookier fashion th-cam.com/video/oz7uDLt_CUg/w-d-xo.html
My high school friend and I are completely healthy at nearly 70. He, however, decided to throw himself a wake. He built himself a coffin on a wheeled base, and after all the guests (mourners) had arrived, the pall bearers wheeled him in. Eulogizing happened, then the coffin was propped up and used as a photo booth. Great party! which proves goth is all year!!
Oh my! It turned out beautifully! You have such a wonderful style. It makes me wish I were younger and had better vision and a less shaky hand, then I could get back to sewing again. I love watching you work and explaining things as you go. It reminds me of things I had forgotten and teaches me things I hadn't learned. Thank you.
Your commentary of coloured pencil use had me in stitches (pun intended) "I have no shame" "I'm gonna keep doing it because - you're not my mom". This was another great video! Cotton sateen is my favourite, the drape is soooo good. :)
I have run out of fantastic superlatives to talk about your amazing talent. This was Gothic coffin perfection. ⚰️🖤 And your orange highly pigmented eyeshadow set it off with the perfect pumpkin-y flare 🧡🎃🥰
Your work is so detailed and your designs are wonderful. To have one tenth of your skill I would consider myself lucky. You do amazing work, never stop creating!!
Truthfully, I feel mostly people mainly just need a machine that does one or two stitches and does them well. Mostly out there seems to be machines that do tons of stitches and are finicky as heck!
My machine isn’t QUITE that old (a Kenmore from the 70’s), but - even though the self-threading mechanism is broken and while I 1) can no longer see well enough to EASILY thread my needles and 2) can NOT find a replacement for it ANYwhere - I am loathe to replace the machine because it has TWO stitches; a straight stitch and a zig-zag with multiple widths. Every time I LOOK at new machines I am comPLETELY overwhelmed by the MULTitiude of unnecessary stitches that I know I will never use!
Brilliant use of bias binding to finish the coffin cutout! Very elegant, and spooky. Putting a different plate on your 99K is challenging to collectors (like me) but I applaud you for doing it. These machines were built to last, and although they were designed and styled for different time periods, adapting your machine to your tastes is entirely appropriate, and historical. You are part of your machine's history, and vice versa. You live in an era when rufflers and tuckmarkers are out-moded, but your machine was designed when attachments to do these functions were state of the art. But nothing campares to a really good single stitch machine. Well done keeping your 99K relevant and stylish. 🦋
Thank you Kirsten! I promise I'm storing the original plate in the bentwood box of the machine, so it remains with it's machine and can always be reunited ❤ Not that I plan to part from my 99, I love it ✨
I love the subtle coffin shape. Great video! I’m inspired to make myself a cute gothic-lite dress like this. *wanders off to put another project on her already full to do list*
I love the coffin cut out! I also love a cotton sateen, not only because of the way it hangs but also the beautiful sheen it has. Another beautiful dress!!
Love how it turned out! Also, your tip about using bias tape for the neckline was genius to me. I'm new at sewing at I am really struggling with that area/collars, etc. Would love to see a video on a variety of necklines and tips/techniques on how to do them.
Thank you for showing us the dark side of sewing! Love the dress and everything you design. Nice change from the classic knit tee. One day we might see you do something with black spider netting and rhinestones.
Very nice!!! And fun!!! As soon as I loose enough weight to have some semblance of a waist again I may snatch a few of your very clever and classy and always fun design ideas. Your explanations are very clear and complete! Thank you for sharing the fun with us all. Your talents are greatly appreciated and enjoyed.
I listen to you when I'm sewing, and my brain heard " so this is how my face looks like after being cut on the fold" (facing of course) 🤣🤣🤣🤣 it was my brain, but thank you anyway for that laugh 🤣🤣🤣❤
Huge shoulder pad fan here 👋🏻I love this dress! My 6 yo son has starting watching your videos with me now and thinks you're amazing. He's OBSESSED with the Star Wars and Blade runner look books. Vincent would like to request a video showing the making of one of your sets because they're 'epic' 🖤🖤🖤
Ah, Thursday. My favorite day. I did live through the 80's so, no sholder pads for me. However, I really like the yoke on the all-in-one sleeve. I have some lovely moss green linen with ivory embroidered flowers all over. It's a lighter weight than I usually use so I wanted to add some volume to the dress. Your yoke and gathering should do the trick. I have made 8 dresses with your all-in-one sleeve and it is all I want to wear. So flattering and very comfortable. Thank you for enriching my life, because that is what you have done. I love sewing again!
I have a few vintage patterns that have a similar style of cut out, the only difference is that there is a 'bow-tie' made of the binding to close off the neckline. What a fun, gothy, Halloween dress!
I absolutely adore the cut out! So gorgeous! And fun :) you could probably wear it all year and most people would not notice the shape…just that the dress was lovely.
Very smart going from a larger to smaller seam allowance under the arm instead of having to do all that clipping in that high stress area. I hope I remember to use this trick if I'm ever in need. I do like the upgrades on your machine. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. Sorry I don't comment often, I don't know what to say. Sending well wishes always xo
Subtle and beautiful. This turned out so beautifully. Your sense of style is unique and elegant. I so enjoyed, as I always do, watching you and learning. I enjoy your little jokes here and there as well. Loving the vintage ornate decorative face plate. My sister had that exact machine when we were growing up. Once again thank you. Good work. 👍😊😉
THE COFFIN KEYHOLE OMGGGGG I love everything about this, the everyday spooky look is just so glam and I'd love something like this for myself. Thank you for your videos, whenever I'm completely lost i can usually find out what I should do on your channel.
Those shoulders 😍😍 shoulder pads are god's gift to mankind, this *is* a hill that I will die on 😂😂 Also that spider broach on your black blouse is stunning!!
Wow getting up close to 100,000! I love the swirling faceplate! Excited about your new tattoo! This neckline is very lovely and could work as a subtle work nod to goth for those Corporate Goths out there.
I'd be very interested in a chalk/pencil video, I sew mostly black and find chalk comes off too easy so I use soap slivers, a bit of a pain but the kids don't steal them😂
Exquisite design choice! I would love to have a dress like this just to see other people's faces when they notice the coffin keyhole (coffinhole?) and want to ask about it but they are not sure of what they are witnessing and don't want to sound weird. :D

😻😻😻🦇 that is so cool 😎 I like the coffin shape and i love the gathering in the bodice. It gives shape and texture. Kind of makes the neckline shape stand out. A rose or a jewel, a moth or bat or maybe a skull suspended in the right spot in the opening would be cool also😊
Personally, I feel that the gothic tendencies are welcome year-round on this channel. Who needs to have the self constraint to be spooky in only October? Not me. Definately not me.

Hear hear! Celebrate Spooky Day year round!
Thank you! It's true I like to leave the spooky dial turned up year round, but hopefully I can range off the charts in October 😂🎃

He wanted to be at his own party, and fair enough ✨ To be fair we /should/ celebrate people while we can, any excuse works!
@@jaskierdraven9191 Yes. It was all in fun, and the coffin has been used at a few more parties.
now i want to sew spooky casual clothes too, damn. the dress is so beautiful! and your looks are amazing. 🤧
I love "spooky casual" as a category of clothes. 😄
There are so many Halloween cotton prints available that sew up so quickly!! Spooky casual for all!!!
Thank you Mari!

Love the dress. The coffin cut-out is cool and the sleeves gave me the feel of bat wings a little bit.
Thanks Kris!

I find Subtle goth is the superior goth for most adult life situations. Do I want weird stares all throughout the grocery store when I just came to get some milk and bread, no. Do I want to share a knowing look or passing complement with the cashier with 10 piercings and electric blue hair, yes.
Solidarity with blue haired cashiers ✨ This reminds me that when I studied in London, there was an attendant at the front desk of the V&A museum with very long, very curly, turquoise and aqua hair.
