I spent probably $50 on TF2 about 2 years ago, on top of that I had bought probably 6 games that year. I came back and wasn't allowed to use the trading system or the market until I purchased something else and I had this hold. Extremely annoying.
iBrokeit - Yeah I just had to swallow my pride and buy some more keys and enable Steam Guard. Apparently I missed some pretty big updates to the security system when I was gone and my account was outdated.
My biggest gripe (of many) with it is that even when you've authenticated the stupid mobile thing, you STILL need to wait a full week to do anything. Absolute bullshit.
What they should do is to still have the 15 day hold but have a button that says like “trade immediately” that can be clicked on at any time during the 15 day hold and if both parties agree on the trade immediately thing, the trade will happen and now the 15 day hold won’t be an issue and you can still have the mobile authenticator work so you won’t get scammed.
The hold system also prevents "Flipping" (Buy low and sell high) to a certain degree. A more reliable option would be to implement a system that takes the value of the item in to an consideration. example items under $10 has a 3 day hold, $20 got a few more days and so on.
No they should make the system completely optional, if you are trading and selling expensive items, it is your responsibility to use whatever systems given, and realize it's your own responsibility for whatever happens to your iteams.
flipping is a good thing and its fun plus it helps you sell a lot of items faster as there is more demand to buy items, especially items with low or fluctuating value

I also just happened to be switching mobile authenticators from my old phone to my new one. Apparently, for some ungodly reason, doing so gave me the 15 day ban on the market and trading even though I confirmed a shit ton of stuff when switching phones. I'm glad Steam is doing their best to protect our accounts, but 15 days is just overkill. I don't see why a week isn't somehow enough.

«How to avoid steam hold» if you dont have a phone simply download BlueStacks. BlueStacks allows you do download appstore stuff (Games, Music, Films including the steam guard mobile authenticator App) there you can avoid the Hold but instead of touch ID you use your mouse...

I managed to get my hands on a strange tf2 item that was selling for $24. Valve really decided to make me wait 15 days just to put something on the market.
Use Bluestacks emulator. Install Steam app. When going to activate the guard, you need a physical phone number that can receive SMS. Do it with a friend, cuz the SMS will have a code you need to introduce. After that, you don't need a physical phone ever again. Just for the first activation. Then use Steam Guard (within Bluestacks) once to log in to your account, and after 7 days the hold will disappear. I think you have to use the authenticator at least once every week or the trade hold will appear again, but not sure of this one.
I found a way !!! --> basically you get the app and sell your items through the market of the app.. a confirmation will pop up and once you confirm it no 15 days hold

I had this once but my phone broke. Meaning that I was locked out of my steam account for a good few weeks before support finally responded. So this bullcrap is actually more of a danger to your account than a protection.
i think this has to do with cross national trading, for instance, 99 cent tour of duty ticket in the USA sells in Canada for 1.30+ on the market. 1000's of these tickets are sold on the market in canada everyday and that can account for major profits for what is essentially digital scalpers
at the same time i dont own a cell phone so i dont know how easy it is to set up your phone as being from the usa, i do know its a sinch to do it with a pc

It's more annoying to try and sell an item for 2 cents and I have to confirm on email and wait 15 days
I have an Iphone and I confirmed it on the steam app with the Mobile Authenticator and it still has a 15 day hold. WTF?!?!
I found a way !!! --> basically you get the app and sell your items through the market of the app.. a confirmation will pop up and once you confirm it no 15 days hold

So, I just put on the authenticator.. still have to wait 15 days? bruh

I have the Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator and still have 7 day holds on everything and have had the app for a few weeks. It caused me to lose out on about $100 (average price for item dropped by about $100) on an item I got from a PUBG crate.

I had this once but my phone broke. Meaning that I was locked out of my steam account for a good few weeks before support finally responded. So this bullcrap is actually more of a danger to your account than a protection.
i have the steam mobile app on my phone and when i click remove item on hold it tells me to download the steam app LMAO
Sometimes ,I can sell my items without getting on 15 days hold.
I don't know why or how.
Now ,it's back to holding my items when I want to sell more.
There should be different settings, for example you can choose email or SGMA
You do uderstand that if Steam allowed you to bypass this, then someone could steal your account, disable the hold time and just transfer your items.

i think this has to do with cross national trading, for instance, 99 cent tour of duty ticket in the USA sells in Canada for 1.30+ on the market. 1000's of these tickets are sold on the market in canada everyday and that can account for major profits for what is essentially digital scalpers
at the same time i dont own a cell phone so i dont know how easy it is to set up your phone as being from the usa, i do know its a sinch to do it with a pc

I'm embarrassed to say I don't use apps. I prefer the larger screen of a laptop. So, I downloaded this, I still can't figure out how to remove the holds.
So i have to wait half of the normal holding days just to get rid of holding?

Yeah, my ass, Valve. I've had the app re-activated since the middle of February, and I can't even sell one fucking skin. This is such bullshit.
I assume it's possible to use blue stack and a texting app so technically you can get around this using only your pc. Not saying that it isn't ridiculous to hold the item like this.
