Sakura-Con is the largest anime convention in the Northwest US, having started as Bak!-Con (Idiot Convention) in 1998, with an attendance of 313 people. By 2016, it had been renamed and drew an estimated 23,000. I believe (and I may be wrong) that Band-Maid was the first Japanese rock band invited to perform there. As a forty-four year resident of Seattle, it makes me proud. :)
I WAS THERE! I'm in the video, in the crowd, basically at Saiki's feet. Just for a blink. My son and I. Sakuracon, Seattle March 2016. God, what memories. Meet n greet, autographed swag, a Miku hug 😍and I'm pretty sure this concert was the live debut of both this song and Alone. Don't quote me on that. You say this song feels nostalgic? Sister, it sure as heck does.❤️
I love that Kanami can take any guitar riff, change the notes a bit, compose around it and make the sound her own. That musical adaptability sets her apart from many rock composers.
Kanami can sound like any rock guitarist. Because "it's all been done before"-think 80s rock. The fact that she's found her own distinctive style, that she can blend multiple styles into her own, is amazing and so, so original. Add to that the joy you see when she's shredding and she becomes a true Rock Goddess. Rock didn't die, it moved to Japan.
Band Maid has always had a way of taking everyone who hears their music back to your younger years. I believe it has to do with how old you are. Their music covers so many rock genres and styles that everyone will hear something to remind them of that time. For me they bring back all the great bands of the seventies with just a fresh, new take on it. For others it reminds them of a different time. They are just a force of nature.
i am japanese Also during the last “Start Over” I made a comment. GOOD reaction thank you very much. “Before yesterday” is Japanese rock band GARNET CROW Composed by HITOSHI OKAMOTO. MIKU's solo song "TIME" was also composed by the same person. SAIKI said in an interview at the time. This is my favorite song, and I like it because it's very emotional. She said it's emotional, which isn't really my sensibility. The interviewer How do you put your emotions into it when you sing about a feeling that you don't have? When I asked Objectively, I feel like I'm singing while looking at the characters in the lyrics. The answer is that I objectively view myself singing.
from JAPAN. BAND-MAID has many great songs that have been buried because of the lack of music videos, regardless of whether the albums are old or new. I hope you will discover many of those songs and react to them. Even with outsourced compositions, the girls can crunch and arrange the music the way they want to, so any song sounds like BAND-MAID. I don't know any other band that has such a high quality of music all the time. I enjoyed listening to the program. Thank you so much.
Love the record store scene! That’s the part the takes me back to my youth. When you would go to the records store before going to the arcade room. Flipping thru records until you found a new artist or an old gem and you yelled at your friends about it! The flower scene they did relived again when they came back for their US tour in 2022. Akane and Saiki talk about the flower store was the same. They really got hooked on the nostalgic of revisiting past venues and places. My Sunday Nittpicc is fulfilled…thanks 🤘🕊️🦍🥷👸🏻👀PO!
This was the 1st time BAND-MAID played in the U.S. it was March 2016 in Seattle Wa , they were at the Sakura-Con festival , this was the biggest audience that they played in front of up to that time , and I understand the MISA MISA MISA chant started there , the scene`s are of them going around Seattle .
They were so young... MISA still with four strings, Kanami with an Addictone, Akane and MISA's Tiny hat. And what excellent musicians they were even then. The composition is by Okamoto and the lyrics by Nakamura but I think the girls already had a lot of room to change things back then. Thanks NittPicc!, I love Sundays with Band Maid.
I really like the lyrics of Before Yesterday. The day of goodbye is over The empty morning is coming The clothes I threw away are still there The scenery in the room hasn't changed But now I'm so hard on myself The light shining on the table The sunshine is far too bright I'm tormented Before yesterday How have I lived up to now I stand up alone I reach out to the curtain The night I came home in tatters You taught me what "courage" is We leaned together and watched the end credits The next day I was already looking forward But now you're so down on yourself It's okay to be alone And you used to make me smile I've become stronger Before yesterday I want to be able to support someone like that The warmth of you left behind still remains I should just go back to the days before we met Why is it so difficult Before yesterday How have I lived up to now I stand up alone I open the curtain Good-bye Yesterday, I guess I'll support someone in the same way, the warmth of you left behind will embrace the future
Nostalgic dive. I’m here for it. It’s really cool to hear the little musical bits and pieces that have become Band Maid trademarks. Watching these older videos of them makes me want to go back in time and tell them, “Keep going! You’re gonna be world famous! Po!” Have you listened to “Freezer,” yet? No video, but it’s an old gem that we all love. It has some really unique musical elements that make it extra special ❤
That kinda home movie documentary video style is really nostalgic too - I think you can always get that feeling even if you discover a band later! You just need to experience it And yeah that's palm muting at the beginning - it's two guitars, one chugging the low power chords and one playing choked higher notes, but they're both muted the same way. Stick the edge/palm of your picking hand on the strings near the bridge, and you can control the attack and release of the notes depending on how much pressure you use and how close you are to the bridge itself. It's the main way to mute played notes on a guitar, so if you hear it that's probably what it is!
I'm an older guy who has seen the infancy and growth of some great bands since the late 70's. I do so regret not coming across the Maids until their 9th year (late 2022). It's bad enough I didn't have them in my life during that shitty year of 2020, but I wish I had been there at the beginning. It blows me away that they feel like they started in the late 90's, with so many great songs, but did it in only 10 years. This song gives me nostalgic feelings that feel 30 years in the making, but it's only been 2 years since I first heard this song. It sucks that I wasn't able to experience their noticeable improvement and evolution in real-time. IMO Miku's improvement on the guitar has a lot to do with where they are now. So, with that said, I'm hoping I get to experience what I missed out on 10 years ago with these insanely talented bands coming out of Japan. I got my eyes on you NEK!.... can't believe they're still in high school. 🤘
The oldest song written for them with a more recent arrangement is Forward. There is a huge gap between the Maid in Japan version and the one they played at Yokohama Arena.
It is indeed palm muting, my fav technique. It's called palm muting, but that's a bit of a misnomer. You use the heel of your hand on the strings at the bridge and control how much muting by sort of rolling your hand forward or back and by changing the pressure. You can get a heck of a lot of expression using this. (This song not written or arranged by them)
You're not alone, NittPicc! I haven't been able to put my finger on why, but this particular song has always hit me hard in the feels. Not in the same way as Daydreaming (🤘😂🤘) or About Us (🤘😭🤘), but a bit different. Now that you mentioned it, nostalgia probably has a hand in it, helped along by the great footage of them wandering around town, like normal girls. I wonder about what I'd do if i just saw them sitting on a bench like that. What mostly enters my head is me freezing up like Ralphie from a Christmas Story did when he met Santa. I would probably end up just saying "thank you" a hundred times or so until I got tazed. Thanks again for another great reaction and remember: Life is BETTER with BAND-MAID! 🤘🤩🤘
One of the first songs and videos of Band Maid along with Rinne that made my heart leap for joy. I had found a band that reminded me of the great days of music that I could just sit back and listen and lose myself. I listen to the old albums on CD every day. I love the new Maid as well but never forget the library of great music they have.
The video used in this mv was from their first overseas show (Seattle in 2016). This was a convention show, but they would start performing overseas one man concerts (in other words, just them not attached to another event) that same year, so in a sense this is when world domination truly began. Its also in the top five of their songs for me personally prior to their self-composed material (Alone and most newer songs).
I really like this song, but for me what really sells it is the video. We get to see Band Maid on their first visit to the US, which was very important for them. When they came back in 2022, Their first one man live was in Seattle as well. Akane was so happy to be back saying it meant so much to her. Knowing how happy they make us, it's great to see how happy we can make them as well. And yeah, video or no video, this is a great song with an older feel to it, played to perfection by 5 amazing musicians. Great reaction as always, NittPicc, and it's okay to talk about what ever it is that moves you in these videos. We love to see and hear what you find special. You are must see TV, Po!
It's so cool.....if you look at the beginning of video....I think it's Akane....she' holding up Santana's "Inner Secrets" album.....I had that album in high school and it was awesome !!!!! Band Maid is so cool !!!!
When someone composes a song for BAND-MAID, they provide the lyrics, melody, chord-progression and occasionally a main riff. The band does all the arranging themselves (sometimes working with their producer). Miku and Saiki work out the harmonies, Kanami does her countermelodies and usually provides the bridge and solo. Akane and MISA do their Akane and MISA shtick ;) hehe
Hi! Just out of the blue, I'd love to see your reaction of the latest Aftermovie video The Warning posted a couple of days, showing their coloboration whith Bandmaid in Japan. It's so hearthwarming! It's great to see those girls rocking without all western rock star bull$h1t. I can't wait to see part II, when Band-maid go to México again!
The song has a very nostalgic feel to me because that riff is very reminiscent of Boys of Summer by Don Henley, though arguably closer to the Ataris cover of the song, a turn of the century pop-punk banger for sure. Edit: Yep, Boys of Summer.
What a time capsule this video is. Akane is still wearing the tiny hat and Kanami is still playing Addictone, but Kobato is playing Zemaitis. On The Warning's channel, a video was posted about the two bands meeting and spending time together. It's a fun and incredibly sweet video that you should check out. Also, if you want to get in on the ground floor with a promising new band, there's a group called Nek! (pronounced neck-ee) that's four young women who are inspired by and sound like a mix of Gacharic Spin and BAND-MAID. Their bass guitarist, Kanade, tried out for LOVEBITES when that band was having their auditions, but she lost out toward the end to Fami. Nek! has only released one EP of five songs, three of which have a video. There's also a short of them covering one of BAND-MAID's songs live.
Welcome Home Princess NittPicc! I hope you are having a wonderful day. They do play around with the arrangements on their songs, at times. A good example would be the contrast between the original music video for "Thrill" and the official live video version recorded about 7 years later. Kanami gave Miku more parts to play on her guitar, I'm guessing to make the sound heavier, and she might have performed some minor surgery on the composition. If you are interested in hearing more of their older music, P in D has a bunch of photo collage videos on his channel of their older stuff. You could ask him if you can react to them, and I'm fairly sure he would be happy to let you do that. He does a really great job of putting those collages together and he is a pretty good guy, although he is probably going to become irritated with me for praising him so much. I'm hoping when they release the new album on the 25th that they will make some type of announcement, hopefully about a world tour. Please take very good care of yourself and I hope you have an amazing week.
Track 7, off Brand New Maid, just before Alone, the first song written wholly by the Maids that the company allowed them to record. I see Brand New Maid as part two of New Beginning, where they slay the material given to them and then branch out to finally be allowed to record their own material. I think the Maids must have tweaked the songs given to them - how could they not have? I love this deep dive. Great reaction! I've taken the plunge after 4.5 years of procrastination and I'll be seeing the Maids in concert in Tokyo at the end of November. This is a big deal for me - I live in Australia so the distance is real. I'm excited and terrified but I simply can't wait to see my favourite band of all time killing it live. Sometimes we just have to go to the mountain rather than wait for it to come to us.
Miku has grown in leaps and bounds as a guitarist. I often ask whether Kanami ever rewrites older songs to accommodate (or take advantage) of this previously untapped resource.
Ok, this is going to sound really weird, but watching your eyebrows as you react to a Band-Maid song is very informative. You can tell when a sudden thought occurs to you, as your brow raises, as you listen intently, they dip as you squint. THIS is why we love reactors who are also musicians. Because you listen to it through 2 sets of ears. The ears of a person who enjoys music AND the ears of a person who is a trained musician. So it's ok to "geek out" from time to time. We enjoy watching your experience with the Ladies and their music. And you really should checkout the "B" sides There may not be MV's, but they are available on their channel.
I remember Miku and Saiki talking on their radio program about how much pain Saiki’s throat used to be in during this era to the point of tears. And Miku was her nurse maid of course.💪🏻🤘🏻
My day is always better with Band Maid in it; thank you for sharing this. I hope you have a great Band Maid Day as well and as always, I thank you for your thoughts on the band. Please feel free to indulge in their past as long as you want. You can't go wrong.
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! I'm here for it (deep diving) I personally LOVE their earlier stuff NOW. I say now cos for between 2016 both when it was released and when I first heard Band-Maid, it was my least fav track by them. Then a fellow Madiac in early 2019 challenged me to "JUST LISTEN TO IT" meaning don't try and pigeon hole it into genre or style or anything else like that Just listen so I did on repeat in a dark room (no video) for about 10-15 times and well I got a whole new appreciation not only for the song but other songs that I hadn't given a chance cos of some pre-concieved notions.
I also think it was in Sakura-con in 2016 when MISA-san again contemplated leaving the band but Saiki-san reminded her to look at the crowd when she's performing. Thank you Sakura-con crowd for REALLY supporting Band-Maid at that time!
Thanks for the reaction on one of my favorite Band Maid songs! These ladies are so talented that they can do ANY genre of rock….. and be the BEST of that genre. This song reminds me of my younger years like so many commenters have mentioned. AND, the ladies give the best 30 seconds of rock and roll topped off by Kamani’s AWESOME solo…just Band Maid doing Band Maid things. I LOVE BAND MAID ❤❤
I discovered *BAND-MAID* during the *World Domination* era, but I gravitate more to their older stuff seems more raw and ambitious. Like when I first discovered AC/DC in the Back-n-Black era, but gravitate more to their older stuff and with Metallica and the black album.
Another great reaction as always Miss NittPicc. This song is good representation of their earlier music, if you can get a feel considering how diverse they are. The only thing to be said about it “ it’s all good” . I speaking about older songs as I’ve gushed about how beautiful Awkward is YOLO is great there is a video out there where Kanami is playing the melody on piano (beautiful) it was written before Band Maid existed. Another great song is Be OK off of their first album it has a really punk vibe and there is a live video of them playing in a small club where Miku is not playing guitar, she is like a little energetic hype/man hype/girl that song is nostalgic. Hope they come back to Atlanta. Have a great week with the kiddos as will I.
Oh, and on the subject of nostalgia, I'm going to see A Flock of Seagulls, Missing Persons, The English Beat, Oingo Boingo and a few more tonight at Thunder Valley Casino outside of Sacramento. Talk about a mix tape of a time of your life. AFOS was actually the first concert I went to back in 1984!
Songs are meant to tell stories, and you are now listening to their story rather than their music. It's all good, since I like listening to perspectives like these. You have our ears.
It is palm muting at the start. This was a magical time to be a fan. There was a simplicity to the songs and an...innocence(?) to the music. They were improving musically but hadn't been freed to write their own songs yet. More recently, they have crossed from competent and confident into experimental, and at times, too much. I'd love to see a partial return to something a little stripped down. Great song and a great time to be a fan.
Their very first appearance in the USA was this. The anime festival in Seattle, Sakura-Con. Now you might thing, that makes sense. BAND-MAID has been commissioned to do so many anime theme songs. But back in 2016 they hadn't. So it makes them an interesting choice. Of course, now they have their own anime, in the Music Video for 'Unleash'. Lets hope before they retire they make a few seasons of that. I'd settle for one full length episode, or maybe a movie.
Subscribed. Please react more. The analogy with raising kids is awesome! My parenthood is a total rollercoaster… but it’s the most awesome thing on earth!
It's worth looking for an English translation of the lyrics. Kanata Nakamura did a great job on these. ""But now I’m so hard on myself There’s light shining on the table The sunshine is far too bright It torments me" … "But now you’re so down on yourself Even alone, It’ll be alright And you used to make me smile I’ve become stronger"
Love your reactions, your reactions are always from your heart. This song is also truly nostalgic of my young age, like the time when I first time found the music of Led Zeppelin.
If you really want that nostalgia feeling with Band-Maid, I would suggest watching some of their early off stage/side project stuff that's on TH-cam. Like Akane's cover of Maximum the Hormone's Benjo Sandal Dance, or their interviews on Kannai Devil in 2018, 2019, 2020. There's also the Radio show Miku and Saiki did together Band-Maid Nippon (which is translated on Ohrenje's channel). Point is, to me, getting to know them off stage makes me feel more connected to the band, and seeing the growth off stage as well as on really makes me feel nostalgic.
The Seattle concert was most pivotal for the band. BM had been together for a few years, but MISA was not sure whether it would lead to something and contempleted leaving. The reception in Seattle convinced her to keep going. I am forever thankful for the Sakura-con crowd, because the alternative would be very dark.
Been with Band Maid almost since the beginning. When the Thrill video dropped that was really their first successful video. Immediately got their whole backlog of CD's. Actually this is more Punk Rock in styles similar to the Go Goes in the '80s. And yes that is Palm Muting.
As always great reaction. I do like this song. The intro for this is so similar to Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer “ intro. You’re the first I’ve heard mention it. Keep up with the reactions.
Yes, it is! This song was released in 2016 and was not composed by Kanami. Kanami originally wanted to be a singer-songwriter, so he had the talent to compose, but it wasn't until the song "Just Bring It" released the following year that Kanami started to get involved in composing music in earnest with BAND-MAID.
They can and do alter their old songs. Miku just did an acoustic version of "Big Dad." They always have altered their songs, even the ones written for them.
I really like the vocal harmonies on this. Not that their vocal harmonies are ever off base. Misa still using a 4 string bass at this point, and I have never noticed her playing this particular one before. It doesn't appear to be the one in the Thrill video with the Jimi Hendrix and Sweet Potato Pie stickers.
they do spice up their older songs at live shows. Thrill (live) Misa during the solo slaps out some 16th note triplets that are definitely not in the studio version.
This was actually one of the pivotal moments in Band-Maid history... and one I think was left out of the Band-Maid member documentaries made by Ohrenje. Misa was on the verge of leaving the band before this trip to Sakura Con in Seattle (the band's first time outside of Japan) This trip convinced Misa to stay in the band and try a little longer.😀
It's a bit of a mistake that's been perpetuated. The two events are not linked. MISA thinking of leaving and being convinced to stay was in 2014 (before Thrill). Sakura Con was way later in 2016. A US fan on YT accidentally linked both events together and a lot of people just copied it. MISA nearly leaving is in the Ohrenje documentary, he said it was really early on, after their first few concerts. The concert that convinced MISA to stay was in Japan.
"Old Songs" that I like more and that no one reacts to: Ever Green (2013) Key (2013) Befor Dawn (2013) Forward (2013) Freezer (2015) Price of Pride (2015) Arcadia Girl (2015) Beauty fnd the Beast (2015) Dont Apply the Brake (2015) Shake Drive (2015) Look at me (2016) Order (2016) Brand New Road (2016) Yuragu (2016) So, What? (2017) Fate (2018) Rock in me (2018) Turn me on (2018)
On the subject of the band Ghost, I got to see them perform live in Bakersfield, in Sep of 2019. I did a deep dive into the band and lead singer. Most people don’t take his lyrics serious, and I get it. Most rock & metal isn’t meant to be taken to seriously. I’m what Tobias would call a, “Rat.”
All the new reactions these days are the same 5 or 6 songs over and over again. It's refreshing to see reactions to songs from Band-Maid's past. Some of my favorite Band-Maid songs they didn't write themselves... like Arcadia Girl, Freezer, Thrill, Forward, Liberal, Freedom, Rock in Me, Order, Ooparts and all the others they took and made their own.
I really love this song. I like the english lyrics hear and there, particularly "and you used to make me smile" - brings back memories... I do believe this song could be even better if they had a key change at the at the last repeat of the chorus which happens at 10:59 in this vid. Just a personal thing tho 😊
I really enjoy seeing the maid stroll around a town that I think if I am not mistaken. Is Seattle Washington? Another Of my somewhat hazy memories is that this is the location where the chant MISA, MISA, MISA as first heard.
No one I know knows Band Maid so anyone I introduce it to I feel like I have some sense of nostalgia compared to them because I remember when I heard the song for the first time.
The whole content of the MV is straight out of MTV's heyday: live concert footage synced to the studio audio with "on the road" shots of the band, so nostalgic- looking as well as -sounding. Btw, there's a harpist on YT who loves running her harp through all kinds of effects pedals like you were talking about: th-cam.com/video/cKgil6DNC9g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=oWB_8En_ARdfWkQy
Hola NittPicc. Yeah! Lots of nostalgia. Bye bye Akane's tiny hat. Bye, bye Mincho's Addictone guitar. But, hello west because this is Band Maid's first appearance outside of Japan for World Domination.😁
My second bandmaid song ever love this song.i think this was the show that the crowd chanted misa which in turn kept her from leaving the maids and the rest is history also a beautiful song I always shed a tear every time don't know way but always
The episode when Misa decided to stay with the band was much earlier, during their first or second solo show in Japan (not the US) (source: _The Day Before World Domination_ interview).
I really love this song. Then again I say that about nearly all BM songs. If you really want something different check out their Maid in Japan. From Ai to Jonetsu no Matador to Be OK and Key to Forward.
Kanami's solo guitar tone here reminds me of a song called Heart Attack by the 60's group Aorta - see for yourself on Spotify (it's a very deep dive into an extremely obscure psychedelic band). (It's also nowhere near as good as Band-Maid!)
What I've always liked about Band-Maid is it feels like they have 40 years of Music history in their 11 years as a band.
Spot on 👍👍
A lot of this earlier stuff is like an old familiar song you've never heard before.
To me, this song is the distillation of the emotion/feeling of Nostalgia.
Something about MISA in a Letterman jacket just seems so perfect for her PunkGirl look.
The Time: *March 26th 2016*
The Place: *Seattle, USA*
The Event: *Sakura-con*
This was the first time that *BAND-MAID* performed in the United States.
IIRC it was the first time they performed outside Japan.
Is there a set list; I've always been curious about that?

8 measures for a Kanami solo is not unusual. She always manages to say a lot in a short time

GOOD reaction
thank you very much.
“Before yesterday” is
Japanese rock band GARNET CROW
Composed by HITOSHI OKAMOTO.
MIKU's solo song "TIME" was also composed by the same person.
SAIKI said in an interview at the time.
This is my favorite song, and I like it because it's very emotional. She said it's emotional, which isn't really my sensibility.
The interviewer

Oh, you caught it! Don Henley, yes! ⚾🧢
"Before yesterday, how did I continue living until now ?"
The day of goodbye is over
The empty morning is coming
The clothes I threw away are still there
The scenery in the room hasn't changed
But now I'm so hard on myself
The light shining on the table
The sunshine is far too bright
I'm tormented
Before yesterday
How have I lived up to now
I stand up alone
I reach out to the curtain
The night I came home in tatters
You taught me what "courage" is
We leaned together and watched the end credits
The next day I was already looking forward
But now you're so down on yourself
It's okay to be alone
And you used to make me smile
I've become stronger
Before yesterday
I want to be able to support someone like that
The warmth of you left behind still remains
I should just go back to the days before we met
Why is it so difficult
Before yesterday
How have I lived up to now
I stand up alone
I open the curtain
Good-bye Yesterday,
I guess I'll support someone in the same way,
the warmth of you left behind will embrace the future
Band Maid definitely feels nostalgic/retro at times especially if you grew up listening to classic rock
Nostalgic dive. I’m here for it.
It’s really cool to hear the little musical bits and pieces that have become Band Maid trademarks.
Watching these older videos of them makes me want to go back in time and tell them, “Keep going! You’re gonna be world famous! Po!”
Have you listened to “Freezer,” yet? No video, but it’s an old gem that we all love. It has some really unique musical elements that make it extra special ❤
That kinda home movie documentary video style is really nostalgic too - I think you can always get that feeling even if you discover a band later! You just need to experience it
And yeah that's palm muting at the beginning - it's two guitars, one chugging the low power chords and one playing choked higher notes, but they're both muted the same way.
Thanks again for another great reaction and remember:
Life is BETTER with BAND-MAID!
🤘🤩🤘
I really like Kanami's earlier sound with Addictone guitars and whatever pedals she was using. What do I know, I was a drummer for 35 years.
Young Maids on the road
Recall music of Spring past
Before Yesterday
(Band haiku no.43)
Excellent!
I think this was before Saiki’s throat operation and when Kanami was still using her signature Addictone guitar.
And MISA was still playing a four stringed bass.
I actually like Saiki's voice before the surgery. It was grittier😄
But i Love how she sounds now. It is just nice to hear the big difference
I always considered this an underrated song in their catalog. Nice reaction!
Blessed, found them 2014, before 'you have to see their live performances',this ones a good connection song❤
It's great that you're checking out early maid. It's great stuff!
There was an awesome version of this in their Spinoff stream. That whole show is 🔥in fact.
Yeah, though here Hitoshi Okamoto is credited with the arrangement in addition to the composition (as with "TIME").
Yes Mam… WHAT A NOSTALGIC. Wwhen I first discovered Band Maid. Listening to This song A LOT😊❤️💙💚💛💜
I need to return "Before Yesterday" to my Band-Maid rotation again. Thanks NittPick 😊
I love it when they're all sitting in the bus stop and the only one smiling is of course a Akane 😊
And the one who doesn´t give a f... is of course MISA 😊
I was at this show, what a great time. I will never forget it. Also the meet and greet was fabulous, had a few pieces of memorabilia signed too.
Nek! Is great!
Underneath the teenage punk sound is the substance of a very talented -- and ever-improving -- band ... waiting for NittPicc to discover them.
NiccPicc Spock? (Comment regarding eyebrows)😊
Ahhh. I love this song. The punk-rock feel is so great. And I think the music video also makes this feel nostalgic.
Great reaction👍
Not composed by Band-Maid, but still Band-Maid. Lyrics by Kanata Nakamura.
You need to find "Beauty and the Beast" . Japanese rap with a metal break down. The Saiki and Miku vocal trade off is something you need to hear!
Just chilling with you and the Maids is fine with me ❤️🕊️
Indeed nostalgic..got some onion close to my eyes ❤️ Love it ❤️
It is palm muting at the start.
January,2014 Band Maid🎀 did Evergreen, a song written by Masahiko Fukui😸Sooo catchy! As usual, fine show!
Before Yesterday I was doing everything I am doing before tomorrow… listening and watching Band-Maid, of course! 🤣🤘Thx, Ms Picc!
Misa considered leaving the band till they did a show in Seattle. So whatnever us U.S. fan did convinced Misa to stay and stick out.
Amazing. Thank you for introducing me to Band-Maid. They are fantastic. I would love to see you react to Hello Sleepwalkers "Goya no machiawase".
It's worth looking for an English translation of the lyrics.
Kanata Nakamura did a great job on these.
""But now I’m so hard on myself
There’s light shining on the table
The sunshine is far too bright
It torments me" …
"But now you’re so down on yourself
Even alone, It’ll be alright
And you used to make me smile
I’ve become stronger"
Love your reactions, your reactions are always from your heart. This song is also truly nostalgic of my young age, like the time when I first time found the music of Led Zeppelin.
NittPicc, thank you for this song - one of my favorite! I also like seeing the ladies when they were somewhat younger (got to be careful here).
Kanami with her Adictone and Misa firing on 4 cylinders…
Been with Band Maid almost since the beginning. When the Thrill video dropped that was really their first successful video. Immediately got their whole backlog of CD's. Actually this is more Punk Rock in styles similar to the Go Goes in the '80s. And yes that is Palm Muting.
this song particuly the chorus remind me all the rock anthem of ny young age (80'S/90's)
That, and they continued to improve their skills 😁
As always great reaction. I do like this song. The intro for this is so similar to Don Henley’s “Boys of Summer “ intro. You’re the first I’ve heard mention it.
Keep up with the reactions.
It's the right time to get familiar with NEK! Aka baby Band-Maid...... One of their first MV looks like they're filming from their bedroom... Lol
What you're hearing in the opening riff is 2 guitars. Miku is playing palm muted chords while Kanami is letting her notes ring out over top.
Yes, it is!
This song was released in 2016 and was not composed by Kanami.
Kanami originally wanted to be a singer-songwriter, so he had the talent to compose, but it wasn't until the song "Just Bring It" released the following year that Kanami started to get involved in composing music in earnest with BAND-MAID.
I’m glad Saiki got her throat fixed, however I do miss that edge to her voice. But any Saiki is a good Saiki.
Misa was on the verge of leaving the band before this trip to Sakura Con in Seattle (the band's first time outside of Japan)
This trip convinced Misa to stay in the band and try a little longer.😀
It's a bit of a mistake that's been perpetuated. The two events are not linked. MISA thinking of leaving and being convinced to stay was in 2014 (before Thrill). Sakura Con was way later in 2016. A US fan on YT accidentally linked both events together and a lot of people just copied it. MISA nearly leaving is in the Ohrenje documentary, he said it was really early on, after their first few concerts. The concert that convinced MISA to stay was in Japan.
"Old Songs" that I like more and that no one reacts to:
Ever Green (2013)
Key (2013)
Befor Dawn (2013)
Forward (2013)
Freezer (2015)
Price of Pride (2015)
Arcadia Girl (2015)
Beauty fnd the Beast (2015)
Dont Apply the Brake (2015)
Shake Drive (2015)
Look at me (2016)
Order (2016)
Brand New Road (2016)
Yuragu (2016)
So, What? (2017)
Fate (2018)
Rock in me (2018)
Turn me on (2018)
On the subject of the band Ghost, I got to see them perform live in Bakersfield, in Sep of 2019.
Time to react to "About Us"
I really love this song.
