The dynasty tree's are probably what slow the game down. Probably a good idea if they made the dynasty tree's refresh every 300 years, removing the dead characters that come before the current living characters from the tree.
Just think if the devs didn't put a cap on the number of children you can have. The cap is 15. But I think you can get a couple extra if there are twins
