Hey, not that unrealistic if you think about it.
There are more people with german roots living outside of germany than within germany.
Even the USA has around the same amount of ethnical germans (or at least partly german) as germany itself.
However, most of those people might know about their heritage but wouldn't consider themselves as germans.
That's what happened with U.K. and USA, basically...

Germany itself doesn't recognize such a thing as "german ethnicity" except in nowadays rare cases of german-speaking people from formerly german parts of eastern Europe. To be considered german by law you would have to fulfill the very specific requirements of german citizenship.

That French population plateau at 35:00 is actually something that happened in real life. France was the third most populous area on earth behind only China and India up until the 18th century, and then was surpassed by Germany et al toward the end of the 19th because its growth just stagnated. Found that kind of funny.

The year is 3000 and planet earth still burns,
Due to religious dogma technology has been stagnant for hundreds or in some cases thousands of years seeing little improvement other than small variations of existing designs. The bloated bureaucracy in most of the nation states also leaves everything running in a perfect slow motion.
Even though humanity escaped their small world a century ago and began colonizing the stars their homeworld still burns in eternal war, no one having the strength to unite all the different warring factions of humanity.
The recent years have been especially devastating to the planet, industrial pollution caused by the near-endless war and the shortsightedness of leaders brought disaster upon the land as never seen before in history. The nuclear strikes upon population centers did nothing to solve this issue.
What humans that are left are scattered across the world living in cities that pale in comparison to ones just a few years earlier.
The three superpowers that remain are drained of manpower, materials and the will to carry on fighting. None of them able to conquer each other they prefer to stick to the status quo and skirmish over small pieces of land at their border.
Will one of the nation states be able to unite the world and lead humanity into a glorious golden age of intergalactic conquest or will they enter a new dark age the likes of which humanity has never seen before. Time will tell but for now, there is only one certainty.
In the grim darkness of the future. There is only war.

Nothing is really ever going to Change, even in the Future there will still be Wars. They Will just be fought differently With Giant Robots And Lasers and all that kind of shit!
It would be cool if they made the loyalty system work in that if a free city remains free for long enough it creates a new Civ, like it turns into Gandhi or something

It was not holy, neither roman nore an empire. It was a bunch of seperated german kingdoms, principalitys, countys and free citys + rome smashd together under one ruler that wasn't neither saint nore holy and he didn't had much controll over it's terretory but with the support of the pope.

Holy shit you need to absolutely destroy your computer to run more of these extended games. This was great.
During one point in my play through, Egypt declared a surprise war on me and LITERALLY threw every troop they had (this was during 1100s) all cavalry units, a single swordsman and about 3 crossbowmen and 6 chariots. My navy is EXTREMELY powerful for the point of the game I am in and I ripped them to shreds before they could cross the border. The ones that did were either sniped buy my crossbows or bombarded by my cities and barracks. They ran out of units without dealing a single point of damage to any of my things. Cleopatra instantly asked for peace but I declined because I could easily take one of their cities. I had reinforcements on the way because I was worried i was gonna get beasted but they arrived and took one of the cities. I made peace and asked for hundreds of gold.
