  • Tim turns a snowman out of Ambrosia Maple, Walnut, Paduk and Ebony. Of course he had to name him Woody. Happy Holidays!
    P.S. Look for Monty Python easter eggs.

    Great project. Who wouldn’t like a snowman? My son loves penguins so he’s getting a few for Christmas. That’s another simple project. Merry Christmas! 🎄

    Woody the Snowman? If you ever watched "South Park", your little Woody looks just like Mister Hankey. When you do his voice, you sound😂 like him also.

    Great revamp on an older project, which reminds me, thanks for allowing RSUPublicTV to share all your older TV episodes, been enjoying them immensely, and a lot of great tips to pick up on, and your goofiness, we all need some of that. Merry Xmas to you and your whole team from Tasmania. I'm looking at setting up a new workshop (well new to me), in the new year and to upload more videos myself.

    Thanks Tim - great tutorial. Just spent a very enjoyable afternoon making one. Had to ebonise the wood for the buttons and eyes though as I can’t afford the real thing. Woody was a little worried for his bits when the blow torch came out :)

    Hi Tim, thanks for posting this little project. I cannot remember if I have told you this before but I saw your Snowman many years ago in your lead in to your videos. It is only visible for a second and obviously no measurements but I put the form into my mind and have been turning these little people for years. Nice to finally see how you make yours. I turn them from one piece of wood and turn a little 1/4” x 1/4” tenon between the head and the hat that I use to put the hat on a tilt by sanding the slope on the head. Very cute little “Woody” makes a great gift when the snow is flying outside. Thanks

    Chakte Vega would make a nice nose, too. It stays more orange than Padauk.

    My dear Tim.... maybe quarter the nose/eye stock to make more use of it.... that's a lot of ebony sawdust.... 😳😳😳

    • @woodturningwithtimyoder
      @woodturningwithtimyoder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep it was a bit of Ebony but since it was already rounded I could not slice it. The Paduk was a little large but with my bandsaw skills I figured it was better to waste a little wood rather than one of my fingers 😊

    Thank you, I always enjoy your videos. As someone who is "design" challenged I appreciate the dimensions. After a couple I will adapt the dimensions to my own taste but having a starting point is good. Along those lines how long is the nose?

    Well done kind sir! Love the humor you put into your videos Tim, makes for entertaining entertainment. Definitely going to have to turn some snowmen for next year!
    How does a fellow Okie get ahold of you in real life? I have a somewhat large Post Oak double crotch piece I saved from when we cleared land for our house. I was wanting to turn it but I am fairly confident my little bench top isn’t machine enough to handle it. Would love to see if you are interested in doing something with or not.

    • @woodturningwithtimyoder
      @woodturningwithtimyoder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow! Thanks for the offer Keith however my wife has me on a wood ban. Seems I need to use up the pile that is hiding behind my shed before I can start hoarding...I mean collecting some more wood. You can reach me through my website www.wtwtim.com. Darn bots will grab my email if I post it in a comment.
      What do you mean about next year? You have 2 days still. Get to it! 😂

    • @Creampuff78
      @Creampuff78 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would love to get to it but, ummm….well what happened was, my large is still buried from the move into the house, aaaand now that we realize we are not at “home” here we are looking for another place to build again 🤷🏻‍♂️. Sooooo have to make some next year 😢
      Know how you feel on having the hand slapped for hoarding as well unfortunately. I’m forever hearing no we don’t need that!Darn women, don’t they know there will never be another piece like THAT one?! I mean Geez 🙄 🤣 Keep up the good work Tim, I like stealing your ideas!!! 🤣🤣🤣

    Do you ever do commissioned pieces

    • @woodturningwithtimyoder
      @woodturningwithtimyoder  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not sold anything for a couple of decades. I wish I had time to take on commissions but with the videos and tool business I just don't have any free time. Thank you for asking.

  • @stephanieanderson5683

    Question for you Tim. Maybe it's been answered and I missed it. I've only been watching for about a year and a half. What do you use or how do you use the D'Addario guitar strings?

    • @duallygsd
      @duallygsd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the late reply. I was stumped when you mentioned a specific brand of string 🤣 Yes it is used for burning marks onto the wood. Having a full set of strings gives me options on how wide a mark I make.
