This is invaluable information for those who step through it very carefully. As much as one tries, it's so easy to overlook the small details without realizing it, and so having an actual Taubman teacher is great help.

Good lessons, rational and easy to understand! But what remains unclear is what does the (fore) arm do besides the rotational help and positioning to assist the fingers when playing legato for example.
1)Does the (fore)arm press vertically upon the hand and fingers in response to the variable strength of the the finger action?
2)Or is it variable weight of the arm to be applied in response to the finger action?
3))Or does the (fore)arm just float behind the hand and fingers as a sort of invariable inert body that absorbs the impact of the finger action like a bunch ball? (Matthay calls this “finger force and hand force against a self supported arm if I am right)
As an amateur pianist I have the impression of dosed pression. The stronger my fingers press the keys, the stronger my arm gives “contra- pression” (Arnold Schultz “contra pression?)). And isn’t the rotational help also a pression applied sideways?
But I am not sure about what really happens scientifically spoken and I am curious about what Dorothy Taubman had to say about this mystery. Couldn’t find anything yet from her about this subject.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

Imagine a piston in a engine moves the gasoline pump up to send it out the muffler. The forearm is used for rotation but the elbow pumps these both to move the wrist softly and execute of the fingers.
