I know this race happened years ago but it's so weird and awesome seeing this zaney mix of American and Aussie cars. Too bad none of the Aussies made it to the vintage races here in the US, I'd love to see them in person!
As a "Boy Racer", I loved my VJ Charger (with the slant 265 cubic inch Hemi motor and the "4 on the floor"), way back in the 80s. Without much effort it would lay rubber down from every stop light (and a heavy footed start), and it was great until the day the Gear Lever came off in my hand (aggressive gear changing to make sure the wheels spun in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear). By the way, no one told us back in the day that the Dukes of Hazard replaced their "General Lee (Dodge Charger), car multiple time every episode, so after a year of jumping the car over the Oakbank Train crossing (South Australia), when it came time to sell the beast, there was a noticeable sag just in front of the front doors, and a hidden mod to stock the gearstick coming off.
Thankyou Con.. ✌. The 340 Charger would of been a beast.. but thankfully they didn't win in the day or I wouldn't of been able to own 2 of em 😉😉. Long live the Val Charger ✌
@There's No God No it wasn't. . Sorry owned both . Hemi 6 oil pump gives up frequently when pushed over 300 hp have seen it multiple times also prone to failure in gudgen binding on the Pistons due to excessive crank float. In the states were they originated Chrysler developed multiple factory performance engines but with out a doubt the 2 most famous performance Mopar engines produced were the legendary 426 HEMI and the 340 6 pack Chrysler Australia took the wrong direction. Sorry many years working on a lot of Vals from slant 6 to big blocks I've had a lot of experience with the Hemi 6, it's great , but ain't better than a small block Mopar.

Early days the Hemi 6 was the king of the in lines , it's taken Ford many years to do better but you'll have to agree that Barra is doing amazing things 😲. Street cars that run 8 sec quarter mile and reliable 1000hp 😉, damn respect to that 👌. Keep the history alive m8✌All the best to ya.👍 MOPAR ✊
@@plymouth40 totally agree with that, that Mopar small block is a tough engine. Chev and Ford's engines are like toys compared to the Chrysler La. Blown up plenty of Ford's but nothing happens to the 360. 25 years of abuse and it's still a beast. 265 is a great engine but the small block is much better.
