    Our family car was an original RT 6 pac Charger. Dad bought it straight of the race track.It was designed by Leo and Ian Gagan only two hundred ever made. It had a 36 gallon fuel tank with duel fuel caps also bonnet clips. Ours was an E38 not an E39.When we got it, it had a 3 speed gearbox.Dad did it up again before he passed away in 2010 he had it running on avgass.My best memory was Dad and I out Boggabri Road I was 15 and it was the first time I drove at 100 miles an hour with Dad egging me on. Miss you Dad and loved the Charger.

      True. Those were the E38 Chargers. The autos were those with a standard 6 and 2 barrel, but didn't have the '265 Hemi' stickers on the sides of the rear panels, only the stripes at the rear and no black band on the sides of front fenders (guards). I can no longer remember if they had the antiglare black paint on the bonnet or a stripe in the middle of the bonnet from the windscreen to the front of the car. Its a long time ago. The 770 always had black vinyl roof and were autos with a medium power 265 and 4 BBL or top of the range model with 318v8.

    Wasn't a very popular car back in the day because of cultural alignments and the perceived lack of performance due to no V8... typical, having said that the 2 bbl. R/T was more of an sales gimmick, 218 hp from memory

    • @rossbrumby1957
      @rossbrumby1957 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Not popular you say? Not long after introduction, Chargers made up for almost half of all Valiant sales and were Wheels magazine car of the year. Perceiving a lack of performance is ironic as it- the E-49 - held title of fastest accelerating Aussie production car for 25 years.
