@@bevanmorgan3946 - I think that might be one of the major problems; no community identity. I live in OC and we hate everything about Los Angeles and don’t want to have anything to do with the city. It infuriated a lot of people when Moreno went with LA Angels. They need new ownership and maybe a move to a new and up coming city.
The Angels are the MLB's biggest identity crisis. They’re too scared to rebuild but not good enough to contend. Another year of wasting Trout’s career incoming. What a joke...
@@Ram-xr5uj You obviously don't know much about baseball. He's not washed, he's just constantly injured. Two completely different things. He's still great when he's actually playing.
I’m an angels fan and I’m so sick of Arte Moreno refusing to pick a lane. It makes baseball not fun and feel hopeless. And it makes it worse living an hour away from dodger stadium and being surrounded by Ohtani stuff everywhere I go 😭
In OC, I’m nominally an Angels fan. They suck, they got swept by the White Sox at one point. Trout has been hurt for 5 years, Rendon mails it in, both have huge contracts. The young guys are just trying to put a few numbers up and get traded. The owner won’t sell the team. There’s no hope.
Pujols contract was bad for the angels but probably a great one for baseball. I def think his batting mentoring contributed in shaping Ohtani. Rendon I have no defense for.
By the end of the 2026 season Rendon’s contract, Jorge Soler’s contract, and Travis d’Arnaud’s contract. All come off the books and after the 2025 season Tyler Anderson’s contract is up too. A lot of resources available for the Angels to dip into the free agent market.
A team can't rebuild for the future if the future doesn't actually perform at the major league level or stay healthy enough to be relevant. That's been the problem with the Angels. A couple years ago Patrick Sandoval and Reid Detmers looked like they were on the cusp of being something special. Bust. Jo Adell was hyped as the next thing and he struggled for most of his career. Nolan Schnauel did almost next to nothing. Neto just can't seem to stay healthy. The closest thing to a breakout star was Rengifo and he has health issues.
Definitely one of the worst franchises (Rockies probably number 1) oddly enough never lost 100 or more games a season. Thanks to trout they didn’t lose 100 games this past season
@ definitely not Rockies have been so bad for so long yet never develop players properly outside of one or two every 10 years at least the white Sox have some success Rockies have 5 postseason appearances their whole existence while the white Sox have 5 postseason appearance just since 2000
He's just making a click bait title and offering surface level analysis that he's regurgitated from other baseball content creators. Thumbs down the video and show the algorithm that there's nothing worth watching here with these types of creators.
Unless the Angels fix their pitching development issue, they're going to have a hard time going anywhere. They can't develop a homegrown pitcher, leaving them entirely reliant on free agency and trades. And then, when they do bring pitchers in from outside, they constantly get hurt. A handful of pitcher injuries is bad luck, but what's been happening to the Angels pitchers over the last decade or so is a sign that the way they're handling their pitchers is fundamentally broken.
Says a hell of a lot that the last batch of great home grown Angels pitching talent (Lackey, Weaver, Santana, K-Rod) was brought in before Arte took over.
Mike Trout seems like the nicest guy ever. I hope he can get out of there sometime before his prime is completely over and get some glory as a WS champ somewhere else. Giants maybe?
*PITCHING* Pitching has always been their biggest problem. They never sign real pitchers. They either need to commit to a full rebuild or just sign pitching
If it wasnt for 2002, the Angels would be known as a "cursed" franchise, because of everything that has happened pre-2002 and post-2002 And only one postseason appearance from 2010-2024 (2014 and they got swept in the Division Series in that one)
I get what the Angels doing- just trying to get better. It’s going to take years for them to actually become competitive again; but given how MLB has implemented a draft lottery, tanking isn’t as worthwhile as it used to be. I say this as a WhiteSox fan who just watched my team set the modern MLB record for most losses only to be rewarded with the 10th overall pick in next year’s draft. Why so low? Because we drafted 5th in the 2024 MLB draft, and one of quirkier rules MLB added to the draft prevents “major market teams” like the WhiteSox from getting to pick in the top 5 back to back years. Idk if the Angels would run into the same issue, but I get changing course and not sucking for years on end. Even if your team gets the worst record, your team is no longer guaranteed to get the #1 overall pick for having the worst record the way the Astros and Orioles got to multiple times when they went through their rebuilds.
I just remember how in the 2023 season they traded for/picked up contracts of like 10 different players in the middle of the season, and then dumped them all like a couple weeks later
That's because the Angels were in a position to make the playoffs if they kept their run. Arte decided to make trades to make them look legitimate about their chances and they completely fell apart within a couple of weeks with constant losing and injuries. Arte by then knew it failed so he tried to dump a lot of salary but thanks to their season record of injuries, they were still over the luxury tax. Let's be honest, Arte didn't do those trades because he thought he could make the team a contender but rather to convince Shohei in a false promise that the team can win so he should stay. The Angels, like Manchester United, are only relevant because they're ran like a brand and not an actual team. Thank goodness that Ohtani left that dumpster fire for ACTUAL LA. Can't say the same for Trout, though.
Eh, I’m not really buying the Angels dooming. They’re definitely not the worst franchise. Just because they don’t commit to a full blown rebuild right now (rebuild from what btw?) doesn’t mean that five years from now things will be as bleak as they are now. I actually thought they were going to be worse this past season than what they actually were. I think they have the means to field a middle of the pack team in 2025, and if they don’t mess up the trade deadline again could be contenders again as early as 2026. We’ll just have to see how things go, and what will actually happen when games start being played.
They don't know what they're doing, I might as well become their president of baseball operations. Even if they wanted to rebuild, they'd screw it up. Rendon literally said he didn't care in spring training last year , their GM defended him and now all of a sudden is doing an about face and saying he has to earn the job in 2025 like it's breaking news 😂
Man, the Angels are so depressing. I remember watching them in the playoffs in the 80's, they were great to watch. Now all I can think about is how they wasted the best years of Trout and part of Ohtani's as well. Uggh. I am thankful Wash is there, but I don't know if even he can turn it around given the Arte factor. Baseball is great in many ways, but the biggest problem MLB has is its small contingent of CRAP owners who refuse to "play ball" and field respectable teams. Pitiful.
You can thank the worst owner in The league For the mess The Angels are in. Arte Moreno ever since he bought the team in 2003, he's just been dragging it down. The Angels dominance during the rest of the 2000s was an echo effect of the Disney era, but after 2009 the echo was gone and Arte fully took over and since then the Angels only made the postseason once getting swept by the Royals and have been a complete dumpster fire the rest of the time. REMEMBER before he bought the team Anaheim won the World Series in 2002 with a team full of role players and no Hall of famers outside of the coaching staff. If a house is not built on stable ground, the house will collapse
I still cant believe the didnt trade otani and let him Go to the dodgers for nothing . Instead of trading him to the dodgers and at least get a bunch of good players. By trading otahni and 2 Other good players they could be Baltimore 2.0 .. What a crime.
Uhhhh I would say the title for "worst franchise in MLB" firmly belongs to either the Rockies or White Sox. Even if the Angels are a massive joke themselves.

I think top three might be Angels, Rockies and the Athletics especially this past year.
This might be my angels fan bias speaking but I honestly think the stuff about the lack of pitcher depth is crap.
