Thanks! I just got my Dexcom G7 this week and was looking for a solution to get the readings on my Fitbit. I use a Versa 4 and was able to get it up and displaying on my watch fairly quickly.
Christel! This is fantastic! I’ve been thinking if getting a watch, but thought I’d have to spend (too much) on an Apple. This looks great! Thank you, thank you for all you do on this channel!
Yay! I don't want to spend that much money on an Apple watch either. Maybe once they make a direct-to-Apple watch option, but as long as I still need to haul around my phone, I don't see much point
Thanks so much for this! I was just wondering…this all worked perfectly for me for about half an hour, before it stopped updating. No matter what I do now, I have a graph and numbers on my Fitbit that are 20 days out of date. I try syncing from the Fitbit app and on the watch itself but nothing is working. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the clock face, and it’s still out dated. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated!!! :)
If the clock face is there and you had Dexcom data on the watch initially it’s probably a Fitbit issue. I’ll have that happen sometimes. I’ll usually update the Fitbit app (pull down on the screen), try to restart the Fitbit app, or close the phone down completely and open up the Dexcom and Fitbit app again. It seems Fitbit occasionally loses signal to the watch. My steps will update but that’s it.
Hi Christel, great video just what I am looking for. Can I also ask if the fitbit unit can react to low alarms from my dexcom app, ie vibrate non-stop until I dismiss the alarm? It would help for me to get woken up to my kids going low
I’m not sure. I turn the notifications on the watch off since the phone is enough for me. I wonder if you can try the watch and return it if it doesn’t deliver on what you need?
So Christel what do you think about all of the fit fanatics now wearing cgm's? Going to make it harder and more expensive for us to obtain them? Im concerned.
I’m not sure it will impact us who needs them for medical use. Hopefully, it’ll mean an expansion of production and faster product development instead. But of course we can only speculate
There was a bit of chatter about the 2022 Fitbit version not being compatible with Glance and giving the E502 error message. Try checking that you have the latest Fitbit software installed. Someone (Reddit) suggested this video for solving that issue (disclaimer, I haven't watched the video: th-cam.com/video/SUuKAR9e4oM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=a5Hqa9fiK6T1UqGp)
Thanks Christel! So you have found the Fitbit versa 2 to be a good alternative to always looking at my iPhone? I use omnipod 5, dex 6, and iPhone 13. Any reason I shouldn’t use a fit bit- I wear a regular watch…?
I love having my Dexcom on my watch. When my old watch stopped working I realized how much of a difference having it on the watch makes for me. You still have to bring the phone, but you can leave it in your bag, pocket, etc. It worked fine with my Dexcom G6, I don't think you can get your Omnipod data on there though, just the Dexcom
@@lindadevereux2024 This is the list of Glance compatible Fitbits I mentioned in the video (Fitbit Sense, Versa 3, Versa 2, Versa, Versa lite, and Ionic). I don't know about other Fitbit solutions
I did exactly as instructed but when I opened my email to accept the Share invitation to myself, it went to a blank internet page and wouldn't open or accept the invitation???
That sounds like a Dexcom Follow glitch. I don’t think it’s down. But I’d try again and if that doesn’t work you might have to get a hold of customer service
So when i phone goes signal loss will the watch show signal loss even though it is near me when the phone is not? I’m looking for a solution for someone who goes surfing in the ocean a lot. Obviously i will not be brining my phone with me in the ocean, so having a waterproof watch directly on my wrist to show me my numbers would be very convenient. I see g7 is direct to watch but I use omni pod 5 and it only connects to g6. I have a couple trips planned this month and am hoping to solve this problem before I leave. Any tips?!!
Unfortunately, the direct-to-Apple Watch is the only solution that doesn’t require a phone nearby. Omnipod should be rolling out their G7 pods this summer but of course that doesn’t solve the immediate issue. Have you considered bringing the phone in one of those waterproof bags?
@@DiabetesStrong That might be what I have to do. I’m so desperate even considering wearing the g6 and g7 at this point. G7 directly to the watch and g6 with my omni pod. Not sure tho I haven’t looked into it enough to know if it is even possible. If not I might just have to carry my phone with me in a waterproof pouch.
Christel, I just received the Versa 4 tonight and I just charged and connected it. Thank you for the information. I am really liking having my numbers this handy. This is a game changer. Btw, did not need dexcom follow installed. And, no error messages. Lol quick question....where did you get the diabetic tag for your fitbit band?
@@DiabetesStrong i did turn bt off and then back on. And now i am also refreshing the app. Seems better. When it said stale data it was 25 minutes old. I hope i dont see much it in the days to come.
@@DiabetesStrong it is 4 months and I like it, but now it would not sync anything, did a factory reset on the versa 4, nogo, would not pair. It will pair with my tablet, running android 14. My phone is android 13. Hmm. Put it on my wife's phone running android 14, success. I think they did an upgrade and eliminated my phone. Dexcom says android 15 has not been verified as compatable with the g7. So I think a new somewhat old phone is in order since I cannot upgrade my phone to android 14.
I’m having a bit of trouble with the install on my new Fitbit Versa 4. It is showing on my watch, but it doesn’t stay accurate. I was unable to click the link to the invitation…it said the link was invalid. Do I need to download a second Dexcom app? I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
I did download the follow app, but some said that’s not needed. If you see blood sugar numbers on the phone but they’re not updating it could be your Fitbit app. Make sure it’s not closed down. You can try refreshing it (pull down on the screen) and also tap refresh on the watch (just click on the blood sugar reading, not the graph)
Can this watch give a strong vibration alert if my blood sugar is going low? For context I am a Deaf diabetic and had a low blood sugar while asleep recently, my iphone dexcom notification is just a small vibration that will not wake me up if I go low while sleeping. I'm not trying to find something that I could connect with my iphone dexcom app and it will vibrate hard enough to let me know if I go low while sleeping, any recommendations appreciated.
I can feel it when the watch vibrates but don't know if it would wake you up. You could try going to a place where they sell them (like Best Buy) and ask if you can try it on so you can determine if it's enough for you?
@@Camtastic22 unfortunately, Dexcom isn't very user-friendly when it comes to audio or visual alerts, so I don't have any other Dexcom suggestions. The only CGM that gives on-body alerts, in the sense that the transmitter vibrates, is the Eversense CGM
