San Jose CH Falcons: Alma & Lucia remain nearby 4+ weeks post-fledge 🏠2024 Jul 15

Two of the four chicks continue to make frequent visits near their natal home, typically at dawn and dusk. They all fledged more than 4 weeks ago. Luna died the day after fledging; Zoe was last positively identified on 6 July.

Lucia stole our hearts, but no surprise, with her mischievous antics, always looking for fun, in spite of those couple of scares, didn’t phase her one bit, lol. But we love them all, and their wonderful parents. This has been my favorite season, for all the nests I watch. They have excelled. Thoughts always for our precious Luna, soaring high without any earthly care. Thank you cam ops, and SKH, for sharing a momentous season with us, and leaving us with fond memories ❤

Lucia stole my heart when she appeared on my google news looking a bit bewildered after being rescued by a featherless angel. Then Alma. They must have much to share about their early fledging days, lol. No matter they are all loved! Merci Beaucoup SKH and SJCH Ops xoxo

It is a.not to still be able to watch them. Lucia looks as though she trying to work out which direction to go So she can cause the.most mayhem. She made the unfeathered rescuers work for their.money (joking) this season. Bless her😍😍

Thanks again, SKH, for capturing these early morning aerial displays. The fly-bys happen so quickly, it's difficult for us mere mortals to catch them. I can't imagine how much work it must be for you to get them on video! Every day with these two is a treasure. I check every evening to see if they've shown up--and it makes my night (is that ridiculous?) when they do. Love how Lucia (top of the louver) and Alma (tucked into a corner on a window shade) have staked out their sleeping spots. (And so grown up--no more snuggle buddies at night.) It's so interesting how these spots are as close as they can get in an urban environment to their traditional cliff dwellings.

​@@skhideawaysI thought I saw Zoe about 3 days ago on the rooftop ledge. Cam zoomed in close enough to look for bands and I didn't see either red or blue on either ankle, so was hoping it was Zoe. But I suppose someone else would've identified her if it was. Wishful thinking- I do hope she's doing well. Thank you, SKH - this has certainly been a memorable season!

I haven’t been able to view all the SJ or UCB videos as thoroughly as I’d like in the last few weeks, but I’m glad to know these youngsters are still (mostly) around and flying well, and are getting ready to go live their lives off-cam, as they must. Thank you for your dedication to this cause, SKH - you are a true friend to raptors and raptor fans everywhere, and we owe you and your team a huge debt of gratitude for another season of falcon family adventures, the hope, the joy, the struggles and the promise of life in the urban wild. ❤
