I just discovered Jackie & Shadow (last season) and have been waiting to see this! But I have questions.... First egg of 2025? Does this mean first of the clutch, or do eagles have multiple clutches during the year? (I'm a Annie & Archie follower, I know falcons). I'll learn more by watching I know, but I'm still curious. Good job Jackie and Shadow, can't wait to see what happens with the family!

Huzzah! Yippee! Congratulations to Jackie and Shadow! Is it customary for Shadow to spend the night near the nest when Jackie is incubating? I can't remember from last year, which was my first season watching J&S so that detail escaped me at the time. Anyway, it's so exciting--thanks for the capture SKH.

I was watching most of day. She was in a very pensive state and not too vocal compared to only a day ago. Shadow never left her for most of day until shortly before event. The actual laying was all of 6-7 minutes. Swiftly executed but you can hear her struggle to make the big pushes! She really was an Angel all day. Now to witness Shadow’s reaction in morning! Bless these sweet eagles that this will be their Season again.

The universe creates another living marvel. There may not seem to be much fluff there, but there are a lot of small bits of wood mingled in with the fluff. Wood is a good insulator and you have to say there are lots of it large and small - depth-wise and width-wise. This may be enough for warmth. Good luck.

The clarity is amazing! I love the new cam setup and removal of the bar, although sometimes it was a nice perch, but agree that it could be cause for entanglement. Have Monty and Hartley or is it just my eyes? Thanks for the glimpse at them and letting us see that they are doing well, SKH and SJ City Hall cam ops team! Music to my ears...Hartley & Monty's squeaks.

Fiona is an excellent nestkeeper, tidying up small sticks and looking for tidbits. I'll never forget the time she springboarded onto Jackie's back and and flew over Jackie's head while Jackie flapped madly. But little Fiona was too fast for Jackie. Thanks for the cute capture, SKH!

Sniff sniff sniffing those little sticks....always makes me wonder what they're looking for 😁 I guess any sort of food scrap left over, or maybe something that would be good nesting material for them? (Small birds will steal nesting material from Jackie and Shadow too I saw 😆) Super cute.
