    I recently used this paint on a chest of drawers. I did not prime it. I cleaned it, sanded lightly, and used a foam roller and foam brushes to cut in. I applied two coats allowing it to dry ov5ernight, which wasn't really necessary. I had the paint for probably over a year and decided to go for it! It was mixed and purchased at a Lowe's. The color is a black, but not sure of the name. But, this paint went on beautifully. I had no issues of sags, drips, orange peel, craters or anything. I don't think I evem sanded between coats. If I did, it was a very light sanding with pads probably 400 grit. I applied 2 coats and no clear coat or sealer. It looks fabulous! I was actually surprised that it turned out so well. The paint is very forgiving, left no brush marks, etc. It goes on well and levels out really nice! I will be using it again to paint the matching dresser. But this time I'm gonna spray it with my new Waggoner sprayer. It will cut the process in half the time. I woukd recommend it for furniture. I dk about cabinets since I haven't tried that yet. But who knows? I love spraying!

    Love the final results. Definitely will do thinner coats with foam. You sold me doing the comparison.

    Thank you so much for the video. Will definitely use primer before painting two coats of Valspar. Also will make sure Lowes shakes the can of paint, use a roller mostly and watch out for drips. So helpful. Thanks again.

    I used it on the cabinets in my sewing room. I didn’t prime after reading I didn’t need to. I had no dripping issues. It’s been 4, almost 5 years and they look as great as when I first painted them.

    I'm using this right now, if I were to suggest anything while using it, you need to put it on in EXTREMELY thin layer, almost pretty much dry brushing. It will definitely take a minimum of 2 coats, but after the first thin coat, let her dry for 24 hours, sand out any brush marks, and do a second dry brushing. It will come out so smooth, it will look like you used a spray rig. I'm super happy with it!

      I've seen the same, and I can see why. I honestly think it will give a really nice finish sprayed. I'm testing that out (along with all other alkyd paints) soon. I'd love to know how yours goes!

    I sprayed this paint and it looked so heavy and ready to sag. I decided to go with it and anticipated dripping. I was surprised when it not only didn’t dry with drips, it smoothed out so nice.

      Any more results to share on spraying. Did you thin it down, did you spray vertically or horizontally,did you sand between coats. Was it on wood or laminate, dod you need to prime/undercoat. Thanks

    As far as durability for a kitchen, do you think Valspar or BM Advance is better?

    • @RefreshLiving
      @RefreshLiving  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually just did a scratch test in my camper yesterday for another post I'm working on. I couldn't scratch either one off with my fingernail so both are really great. Valspar does dry to a "harder" finish. The best I can compare it to is that Valspar just dries more like oil based paint, which is more durable. Advance is still very durable though, just a slightly different finish. If you're spraying your cabinets, I think I would lean towards Valspar. But, I'm actually going to test 11 of the top cabinet paints side by side on doors to give a full review. Won't be published for another month though because I want them to full cure!

    This paint is designed to be applied in a minimum of two thin coats. Allow it to dry between coats. If painting high finished surfaces use a bonding primer. Sanding between coats will give an even smoother final finish. Also applying too much affects the paints ability to dry properly.

    I went to Lowe's looking for a specific paint color... Guy convinced me that because it was a bedside table I should use this stuff. Huge mistake. I shouldn't have let him pressure me into a product I've never used 🙄. Oily wet marks and online says it "might" dry in a few months.

      Yes, but this paint performed very differently than any other paint I've used. Even the smallest bit dripped and sagged tremendously. I had to try brushing in places I normally wouldn't to catch all the drips.

    You putting it on too thick is absolutely the case. That's why it requires a minimum of two coats. You put it on way to thick and then overworked it buy continuing to brush it. Not to mention it's the wrong brush and foam rollers are recommended.

      Spot on it was caked in paint and primer, and possibly the can was not shaken or mixed 😂
