I just traded in my regular switch for the OLED version and while the internals don't make much difference, boy I was amazed at how much better a device this is externally. While the power efficiency is true, the Nintendo OLED switch runs at a much higher contrast ratio, with more rich colors and actual black colors instead of turning the pixels off. Glad I'm not getting OLED. I don't like the too bright OLED screen, some games like Xenoblade looks less sharper, and there's a lot of OLED's with green tint screen issues. I like 0% risk of burn in on the V2 and it's lighter. The oled offers better viewing,i mean like the sharpness and such. More power efficient too. But the main problem with the oled screen, not only for switch but any device like smartphone or tv or monitor, the will burn in after some time. Especially when the screen is projecting the same thing over and over again for extended period of time. Lcd is less power efficient, less sharp but it doesnt have the burn in problem. For long term,i mean very long term use,i will definitely recommend the v2. But if you are just picking up one for a few years and will upgrade as soon as the pro/2 comes out then go for oled. I prefer oled but when i think for long term usage i will go for v2. And yes most of my friends that has the lcd for more than 5 years, their screen is as good as they bought them. Eventhough they push that thing to the max like almost 6 to 8 hours a day when it was new,it is still good. Which is why for the third time im saying, lcd=long term and oled=short term better sharpness and detail.
Why didn't Nintendo release the Oled one along with normal one or in one year after the normal one release. It took them 5 years to release the oled. If they had done it sooner than most of us would have bought the oled one.
That’s your choice. If you can sell your original switch for a profit to make up with the $50 cash difference then I’d suggest doing so. If your oled arrives, transfer your data from the original switch to the OLED, because most people would want a clean Nintendo switch

To me it's a 110 dollar difference cause I will have to buy Mario kart separately from the switch Oled. Unless there are some black Friday deals on the Oled
I just recently bought the regular switch for my kids first switch since it came with Mario Kart. It was a good bundle.
@@duhbulars yeah u can't beat it
@@tonydan7749 yeah I’ve been debating between the two. I’m going to get the mk 8 bundle just due to the fact of the price difference. I don’t see myself using it handheld that much either
@beckayshaw6083 good choice unless you are die hard switch played the og switch is more than enough
if u plan to use the tv/pc mode more buy the normal switch
and if u plan to use handheld more buy oled
I just brought my first Nintendo Switch and it's the OLED version one is the one that I actually wanted to buy so thanks for that
I have question.
I play Minecraft with my daughter and during the game… when we go far in the map like in the boat at the water, the map sometimes takes a while to load. So we have to stop and wait until it load up.
Is that the game processor or the internet? I have 1Gb Internet.
Thanks
Thx, are the docks then the console? So when not playing individual and playing with family I then plug the oled or older one into dock and then that plugs into tv and now it’s more a family game console?
When you dock them they become the console yes. It's funny, the oled looks like a smaller version of the wii when it's docked.
Definitely the OLED. I have the neon red and blue OLED and it’s definitely worth it!!
Oled also has improved battery
Can you please please tell me is there any hole for key ring or fob on the Nintendo Switch? Somewhere in the corners? I am copy writer, I really need that info right now :D
"But it is not like, super super stable. It's slightly disappointing..."
*knocks over OLED with the Switch*
lol
you can get a WLAN adapter for the OG switch. The LAN port on OLED is far from a selling point if you wish to upgrade. I'm not bothering with upgrading to the OLED, but the OLED should have been the switch we got on release
Is it worth upgrading from the normal switch to the oled?
yEs
@@Quantexture really? Did u do it? And do u recommend it?
@@crafantastic5000 uhh.... kinda. It is recommended if buying for the first time.... but, it's your choice if you wanna upgrade it to the OLED version
Yes or no. The display is a huge upgrade and everything else is just meh. If you expect to be a next gen or much more powerful than the original switch then don’t even bother upgrading it.
Nice quick concise video
imo its not worth it because for being more expensive its just a brighter and colorful screen which is hardly noticeable unless you compare the two and look closely. and while the screen is bigger it doesnt seem worth it. the kickstand is good but unless u rarely play tabletop it's not.
don't have switch yet but ill go with og v2 since im planning on playing it on dock mode and i never bring any of my handheld console outside (since gameboy era) so oled is kinda useless to me.
Im also about to buy a v2 however the joycon drift situation is scaring me and making me question if i should just avoid buying one.
@@endriti2234 I have had an og switch for 3 years and my joycons have started drifting after about a year of use each.
@@endriti2234 If you don't want stick drift, buy NYXI Gamecube joycons, when it's about the controller, it's the 8BitDo Ultimate
Oled has 64 gbs of space whilst the OG has 32 gb.
Can you play physical games from switch to the OLED?
Yes
You can also use the original Nintendo switch dock on the oled, even if you switch joycons
If you have the old/og one and payed games to have it there. Can you transfer it over to the oled one?
Hello nice review, but wondering can I play all the versions of this video game Contras on any of this console??
I never game on it as a handheld, only on tv or a monitor so the screen doesn’t matter to me. Oled looks nice
The OLED doesnt look super nice though!
when i subscribe to nintendo switch online can i play the newer mario games or do i have to buy them anyway?
@@robi017.buy them
@@robi017.yeah you still have to buy the games. Switch online just lets you play multiplayer
I need help asap is 180 a good price for the animal land switch ?
It's not worth it just get the regular 1 and buy a game with the extra 50
I’m going to buy a switch in a few days and your comment helped a lot. Thank you. I’ve never owned one before and I want one. Just don’t know which one to get.
Same I ended up getting the switch. Didn’t see much of a difference for me
@@ImAshleeS now that I think about it I think I’m gonna go with the OLED for the storage and it’s only a $50 difference.
@@twenty8988 let me know how it is when you get it. I’ll be receiving mind in like 5 days.
@@ImAshleeS fasho! I will remember to come back to this thread. I get it in like 3 days.
For this being my first switch the deal right now this week is switch with Mario kart and three months online for 300$ or I can get the OLED for 300& what’s your guys opinion?
the best switch games are single player and online likely won't be used as often as you'd think, the OLED looks much better too
i’ve had a nintendo 3ds since 2012 and a wii u since 2015 and i’m only here after learning that the online servers have been entirely shut down for pokemon games (x, moon, tournament)
Very helpful. Tnx😊
what model should i get to play on tv?
In tv only I'd say regular but for both handheld and TV I'd say oled
Is no one gonna notice at 3:33 the oled says "low console battery" 😂
I just bought my first switch today. I got the original. A family friend sold me the console and Mario kart 8 for $100. I wanted the OLED but couldn’t pass up on this deal.
Which one should i get the oled is 5 euros more
Do the original switch games work on the oled and vice versa?
yes
Battery is the same but one has a more powerful screen so how do they both last the same. Its doubtful.
i already have a og nintendo switch from 2017 do i buy the OLED model?
That’s your choice. If you can sell your original switch for a profit to make up with the $50 cash difference then I’d suggest doing so. If your oled arrives, transfer your data from the original switch to the OLED, because most people would want a clean Nintendo switch
The screen of my AC switch broke down after two years‘ use and here am I trying to figure out if I should get the screen replaced or just upgrade to an oled
Upgrade
Can somebody please help me. I want to buy this to my 5 years old daughter. Should i go for the smaler one or bigger one oled? I wanna buy oled but affraid her hands are to small? I know that the standard has smaler screen and oled has bigger.
The Nintendo OLED has a small weight difference, don’t let it scare you, if she uses an iPad then I think she would love the bigger screen size and the higher storage, so get the oled for her
Do the switches have games in them when you first buy it?
No
Can you play the OLED switch on a TV via an HDMI cable? I think Ibresd that the OLED SWITCH couldn't be connected to a TV.
399,99 vs 549,99 if u want the Zelda or Pokémon it’s 650 I’m in Canada my switch is getting old I’m wondering if they go on sale this year for holidays should I grab the newer versions bc it works with all same games ect my got scratches the one remote is broken a bit and screen got minor scratches and little chip should o grab new one to be safe next thing new one will be out in year or less and these once there sold out in store it’s gone every unless u go ebay and it’s way more then what it was in store 😅
Soon to be switch owner here, need suggestions, switch or switch OLED?? which is better?
Switch oled
Are the controllers the same for V2 and oled?
I was about to buy my first Switch Black Friday, I purchased online...then read the reviews and realized I didn't get the OLED. It's 2024, they are $249 and $299 respectively. I'll just cancel and reorder the OLED.
Thanks for sharing!!
Can you use the original switch on the oled dock? And vice Versa??
I think so,yeah
I litreally like the oled screen, is nintendo switch oled is super good at all then normal switch, its nicer then normal, so i kinda like it
Do they both look the same in tv mode?
yes
What you mean the battery life is the same? The capacity is same, but the oled displays are more efficient in terms of battery.
Anyone know if it’s safe to buy the honk kong version? I found one for sale and was wandering if there was any difference I should be worried about?
It's totally safe because It’s region free meaning that you can buy USA games and it will work the only thing is that you will buy an AC adapter to work with your plug
Doesnt the Oled Switch run with less power (aka lower electric bill)? Or am I wrong?
Great vid, feedback if interested, maybe tone down the pop sound effects. It was a bit distracting for me after the first 5-6.
"Great vid, feedback if interested, maybe tone down the pop sound effects. It was a bit distracting for me after the first 5-6."
FOR ME!
the oled is just way beter the quality is just amazing also the kickstand and maybe not for all people but for me epersonally i neded that ian port and to top it off it has a biger memory and double memory
I bought an Animal Crossing old Switch before the OLED dropped.
Since my Switch is always docked, I’m good.
Definitely getting the OLED
I agree with the original
I wanted to buy the oled one. Should I buy it for 350 or a used one for 280?
Buy a fresh one always, used ones they don't check for hackers that can pinpoint your GPS location, last thing you remembered is getting back into your car and now your mouth is sewn into the B-hole of a pig deep in the southern lands of Alabama far away from civilization, and an old slave house from the year 1824.
2:22 pull it from the centre 😮
Bro speaking true
Fr although
You're wrong on the Screen size. It's 6.2 vs 7.0 inches
I'm going to get me an OLED Nintendo Switch to retire my original Nintendo Switch from 2018 👍🤠👍
Good luck
@@UrMomsHouseRightNow much appreciated. I deserve my gifts right now
Don’t tryna run if you don’t know how to walk on this make a best invest for you at the end of the day just buy a good warranty and that’s it you upgrade just pay the difference. Experiment by your self it’s the best review
bro in australia the oled is it 500 and regular is like 400
Hello I’m in the point we’re the oled red and blue came out😅
I Dont Even Use It A Lot, The Games I Play Dont Even Use Wifi, And I Just Got A SD Card. I Would Stay With My Current Switch. And I Also Care About The Gameplay Only, Which Is The Whole Reason Consoles In General Exist. So I Would Go With The Og Anyway
agreed just getting the regular for now main use will be family game nights more of a xbox guy may change my mind if i catch myself using it more then i expect 😂
Of course yes
So...they are the same...one just has a better stand and a LAN cable input. I'm getting the regular switch
They’re the same yes. But oled has a bigger screen display, higher space, better stand and higher battery life. Even with the bigger screen display. Let’s not forget the better speakers
Also also, oled has better fans than the regular switch.
I think oled is better to Nintendo switch v2
I had Nintendo switch 11 months ago but is lost so is sad but great news that my dad will buy for me so it will be oled finally gonna get one
oles is more power sawing so there is battery life difference
Wait do you NEED wifi to play??
Nope you only need wifi if you have wifi games on your switch
