"One of the things I love about this band is that you'll hear their music and not be sure if you should grap a dictionary or start a pit." That is one of the truest statements about Bad Religion I have ever heard or read.
"I don't think that my life is ever gonna stagnate, and I don't think that anyone who's honest with themselves will say that theirs will either." This is so inspiring. I always come back to this video because it makes me feel good.
Like Greg says himself he is still a kid at the moment of this interview. Kids often think when they are 19 years old that they have outgrown the stuff they did at 15. You experiment with different paths in those years, meet other people and gain new influences and try new stuff. I am very happy he returned to punk rock, Brett and Jay returned and gave us the legendary Bad Religion who are still kicking ass on record and live on stage today.
Funny how he took a shot at Into The Unknown by saying how he left the keyboards at home and we wouldn’t be hearing them like on the last album. That album is a cult favorite!!
Bad Religion was my introduction to punk. Before that, I was listening (and I still do) to PinkFloyd, and didn't care much about punk. Then I heard BR, and I was like "fuck it, these guys are reading my mind!"
His hair is really all you guys have to take from this? This is a good interview, listen to what he has to say. It shows his maturity. Especially for the age that he was at during this interview. Brilliant man.
Someday, When I inevitably get the bad news that cancer has snuck its way into my " enter body part here". I will wipe out my savings account just to have Greg do a 40 min acoustic set in my living room . And if hes pressed for time, Ill settle for 25 min. Then and only then, can I rest in peace 👍
I'm 19 currently and would love nothing more than if more people this age were like Greg. I don't think I'm terribly dissimilar from him at that age and, not to sound like an arrogant ass, I just wish I didn't feel such a gap between my peers and myself. It's frustrating.
woah the views are at 99999 anyroad this guy is my freakin idol he actually did something amazing with his life and educating people thats the way to do it make a difference yah!! theres nothing more punk rock than that.. bad religion kicks ass even after 30 yrs FUCK YAHH!
19! Whew- and he acts so mature compared to most 19 year-olds. No offense to you young guys but Greg gives the impression that he really has his shit together. Certainly more than I could say for myself at that age.
Henry2962 Yeah, they are aspects of the source. Like you and me. Should read "Anarchy Evolution", Graffin explains why he doesn't believe in god(s). Of course he is defiant musician. Loved "how could hell be any worse?" and pretty much liked the rest of the stuff. Btw. they are nice DK covers out these days. Try "Trump über alles".
@Raeafu I think that Graffin is one of the smartest guys out there. And when I was in school it was their lyrics that made me want to do well. And you are correct. Christianity is not a bad religion, but the modern day Christianity and some of the old extreme ways are terrible. True Christianity is a lot like Buddhism. It teaches to love one another and turn he other cheek, not to condemn those who do not think like you, but to show an example through the way you live.
@thotkrime We're only gonna die, Damned to be free, I Love my Computer, Fields of mars, Atomic Garden, the entire "Into the unknown" ep and a few others I can't remember right now.
At 00:47 he says "I don't think that my life is ever going to _____, and I don't think anyone who's honest with themselves will say there's will, either." What was the word he used? I can't understand it.
***** close, but he said stagnate. stagnant is a adjective to describe the stillness of something, whereas stagnate is a verb portraying the act of stillness.
"One of the things I love about this band is that you'll hear their music and not be sure if you should grap a dictionary or start a pit."
That is one of the truest statements about Bad Religion I have ever heard or read.
Hard to believe I have been listening to Bad Religion for 35 years.
Even at 19 he is intelligent and modest. so funny to see him like that though
Roborat1 he is a genius
I always come back to video because I wish I knew this guy in person. He's just so... together. He's the role model I need.
greg at 19 years old is smarter than me at 32.
I love this! Yes, Graffin you have changed but also stayed the same. Amazing
"I don't think that my life is ever gonna stagnate, and I don't think that anyone who's honest with themselves will say that theirs will either."
This is so inspiring. I always come back to this video because it makes me feel good.

Wow, he is just too adorable!!!!

Then I heard BR, and I was like "fuck it, these guys are reading my mind!"
that voice... i love it!!!
Damn, it's so crazy seeing Greg as a 19 year old and then a 45 year old on stage today.
Awesome interview.
His hair is really all you guys have to take from this? This is a good interview, listen to what he has to say. It shows his maturity. Especially for the age that he was at during this interview. Brilliant man.
un gran musico y gran tipo,me encanta el grupo, son los dioses del punk rock californiano
Extremely wise at a young age
Someday, When I inevitably get the bad news that cancer has snuck its way into my " enter body part here". I will wipe out my savings account just to have Greg do a 40 min acoustic set in my living room . And if hes pressed for time, Ill settle for 25 min. Then and only then, can I rest in peace 👍
Lets hope you get to see him without getting cancer
I love BR! How is he 19? True intellectual.
"The last album" (Into the Unknown). Basically, Bad Religion tripping on acid. I actually like it. It's differnt but still good.
He has a phd and is now a college professor with a degree in science and ecology.
Nice man, I wish I would have seen that show.
oh god, he was so hot when he was young, and he is still!! dude, i admire this man
He looked a little bit like Tom cruise when he was younger with hair.
I'm a huge fan. It's fun seeing him at 19. Though it doesn't seem to show here, he's a hell of a smart guy.
No, the album with keyboards and acoustics is Into The Unknown (1983)
ldrslucas if you come across that album on wax it's worth over 2 bills on TH-cam
I'm 19 currently and would love nothing more than if more people this age were like Greg. I don't think I'm terribly dissimilar from him at that age and, not to sound like an arrogant ass, I just wish I didn't feel such a gap between my peers and myself. It's frustrating.
Um gênio na arte de cantar suas letras mas todo enrolado pessoalmente
Great quality, btw. Good vid
Legends are young ..
I just randomly saw him now and I was like "oo i'm in love again!".
He had more insight as a 19yr old than most 30yr olds I've met. Even though I don't agree with everything he has said...All round cool dude
Yes Doctor Graffen, you are correct.
Quite wise even at 19.
woah the views are at 99999
anyroad this guy is my freakin idol he actually did something amazing with his life and educating people thats the way to do it make a difference yah!! theres nothing more punk rock than that.. bad religion kicks ass even after 30 yrs FUCK YAHH!
OMFG, Greg had hair!!!
Legend
19! Whew- and he acts so mature compared to most 19 year-olds. No offense to you young guys but Greg gives the impression that he really has his shit together. Certainly more than I could say for myself at that age.
@NoPride6 he was an idol to me at 19. He was an idol to me ever since I discovered them in junior high and continues to be even now :D

@mrpwase Thank you for clarifying. I really do appreciate that. :)
My only god: Greg Graffin
There is no god but god.
And Graffin. And Aukerman.
Henry2962
Yeah, they are aspects of the source.
Psycho Zoikum
"Aspects of the source." Neat phrase, man.
Weirdo
He has no more hair. LOL. I am religious and I like Greg. I admire his intelligence and education.
Did he sound exactly like that his whole life? When he was crying the day he was born did he have that voice!?
jeez back in the 80s and 90s. music was good then.
He was so young, he's definitely gotten better with age.
@Graffin93 greg's birthday is november 6, 1964
intelligent wise and kind
there's something a bit weird seeing a 20's greg graffin with a full head of hair.
is this for the recording of suffer then? i dont hear too many keyboards or acoustics in it is all.
ele é mto foda..
What video is this from?
Greg Graffin Respect
The dog ate it PROFESSOR!
Seems like a proper nice bloke.
Greg Graffin is so heroic to me. I hope I am as right as he is about my own life. what kind of hat is that can anyone tell?
I don't know the time lines for certain, but I'm guessing this is after "Into the Unkown."
@Raeafu I think that Graffin is one of the smartest guys out there. And when I was in school it was their lyrics that made me want to do well. And you are correct. Greg Graffin is frickin smart!! when i was 19 i was plain stupid :(
i really want to know the answer to that question
i bet he is a hell of a nice guy in person.
@thotkrime We're only gonna die, Damned to be free, I Love my Computer, Fields of mars, Atomic Garden, the entire "Into the unknown" ep and a few others I can't remember right now.

*****
close, but he said stagnate.
stagnant is a adjective to describe the stillness of something, whereas stagnate is a verb portraying the act of stillness.
ImNotGregGraffin stagnant = stay the same
ImNotGregGraffin stagnate
Jesus. He was so together at 19
He is actually related to Johan Sebastian.

Who's interviewing him?
I was gonna make a mike myers reference then I saw this. totally agree
Wtf He said Christ!

Am I the only one who senses a Napolean Dynamite vibe hear? I wondering if John Header was a fan?

OH HAIR!!
@jtnoodle

Awesome!! Keyboards!! hahahaha
@hereticgraffiti dude i was there at funfunfunfest too. it was the first time ive seen them but going to corpus on 4/20 to watch em again.
haha he looked like keanu reeves when keanu was that age :P
Better Call Graffin
u mean he doesn't look 19 here?
That's because some people keeps their hair, another people lose it.
or their moms tell them to cut it
In this particular instance, the younger the better
he's 44.
Rather ironic being as how he's from "Bad Religion."
@lemonpledge7093 Yeah mate I felt like that at 19 too, and I still look back and laugh at how much more I had to grow up. Get over it.
@wind11011 ANd he didnt even change _that_ much in 20 years!
Eddie Vedders long lost brother. both bands are awesome by the way. wasnt saying anything bad.
gotta admit I prefer people who play and sing at the same time !
Really, was he boring?
He sounds like he'd be pretty sarcastic.
UCLA right?
