I was in the Philippines for about a year last year and I was amazed at how picky we are about our cameras (me included). There were dozens of real photographers there making their livings on their quite old Nikon and Canons. Of course they were impressed with my speced out camera that I was. Wielding around and Im sure they would love to have one too but what I witnessed about them is their professional attitudes and they took pride in the pictures they produced and sold. They made me realize that I have a lot to learn about photography and it far surpasses the gear we use. Through the difficulty of their ancient cameras often repaired at the local camera repair shop they had what I am trying to achieve now. Skill and an artistic approach maybe slowing down a bit. I now want to be the photographer not my camera.

I don't know why there's so much hate on x-m5. it's definitely targeted to specific audience. People wants to complain on everything. Even for X100VI launch, people complained that 40MP is overkill and IBIS is not really worth it 🤣

@@Reggiebphoto Oh absolutely satirical. I shot Fuji pretty much exclusively from the XPro1 and XT1 all the way through the XPro3 and X100V and even dabbled in the GFX 50R world a little bit. I'm really sad about Fuji's recent shift towards more video-centric and sort of entry-level cameras with the film sim dial, as well as their sort of ignoring of updating the very much beloved 18/2 and 35/1.4. I know they released the 18/1.4 and 33/1.4-both spectacular lenses-but what I think a lot of Fuji photographers (key word there being 'photographers') want is more of the small, analog cameras from the XT and XPro lineup and small, compact primes.
I'm not saying the XM5 isn't a warranted addition to the lineup, but it feels a little like photographers are being ignored in Fuji's pursuit of snagging a little more of the market share from companies like Sony and Panasonic. Fuji used to be unique. Now they're just blending in with electronic cameras. :\

      XS20 is the move

  • @SummersSnaps
    @SummersSnaps หลายเดือนก่อน +8

Maybe they plan on an X80, maybe 2025! It's perhaps a bit unfair to hate on the XM5 because it simply shares a similar footprint to an X70 but we had no X80? heh.
I think the amount of people that don't understand the XM5 is quite astonishing. It has a few markets but it will never be 'the camera' that does it all, it can't.. not at this price point and the pricing is EXTREMELY important to its intended market. We have been so long without a budget Fuji camera. For example, people complain and compare this camera to the XS20 (which is a far better all rounder camera), but of course (at least here in Australia) you save about $700 by opting for the MX5! That's not a small amount of savings, I can get a gimbal ($400) and some budget 3rd party AF primes with the coin left over!
It's clearly a video centric camera, pimping it with a rig I think is part of the intent, the C1-4 dial another example of intended video set ups. The specs themselves scream 'I'm very good at video for the price of me!'. So once we realise it IS a video centric camera we worry much less about things like EVF's. There are primes and zooms out there with OIS, the only real mistake here I feel is not with the XM5 but with the replacement 18-55, the new 16-50, which now has no OIS. Woops!
I dunno about you but I don't need duplicate specs all the time. 2x XH2S's is enough, I don't always need my 3rd camera to have IBIS, WR etc. That's one of the intended markets here, you are the intended market Reggie! You wanted something affordable, slim, for video/vlogging, this is it. And maybe if Ricoh did video better then you wouldn't have to go down this path. Hate on Ricoh maybe instead of Fuji! 😆
And of course this camera is suited to beginners, who will like the Sim dial (Fuji have reported that the dial is being well received) and are very used to taking pictures via the screen from their smartphone use.
It's doubtful I will get this camera, but I see merit in its price to value and application use.

I was also very disappointed by the X-M5 because it is so *so* close to everyone's ideal camera but it have that one thing that is off or lacked from being that "perfect camera".
Now, and I assume in the near future, many will see the camera for what it _is_ instead of what _it could be_ and shall slowly but surely warms up to it. As a hybrid camera the price per value is insane, 6k open gate *_and_* mechanical shutter at this price point is comically good over it's 'true' competitors with the likes of Sony ZV-E1 or E10 ii and Lumix S9 lacking the mechanical shutter (and some doesn't do 6k open gate either).
It is not _my_ ideal photography first compact ILC camera, but I've seen it in a really good light all things considered. my thoughts exactly...i was in high school when the x70 came out, it was love at first sight, I couldn't get it then...by the time I hit college, the xf10 just released, it felt like a plastic toy, I didnt get it. settled on getting an xe4 cause it was like a mini x100 with the 27mm and a bigger x70 but it was during the pandemic and was on back order in the philippines until fuji just pulled the plug. was so disappointed with the xm5, it's literally the same XE4 but wither shittier features, no evf, atriculating screen over flip screen and the most useless thing of all, the film sim dial.

from begining of the video seem the reviewer doesnt' fully understand that this is entry level camera for video/vlogging with option to grow, nit picking of features then it's in the perspective for intermediate or expert user... why rant so much, the comparison are in the same price bracket. be wise, provide objective review or just make video to help optimize the camera of xm5

I'm sorry no IBIS on a video orientated camera... NO. Fuji needs to stop fvcking around and come out with a compact zoom, flash, built in in ND filter, IBIS. Basically the x100vi for video.

I would never buy any camera without a view finder! Maybe it’s because I’m older and don’t see as well, but I’ve always hated LCD screens only, as you have to worry about glare!
If you’re shooting video, which I don’t, I’ve heard others talk about the Xs20 being a better option!

💯 The X-M1 came highly recommended by a number of content creators I follow. I love the form factor, especially with the Fujinon small primes. But, the rear-screen only is a show stopper for me. It's not just the lack of contrast in bright light, but the screen requires old eyes to find the near vision part of my spectacles. "nuff said...
