Many thanks, Martin. This was really useful. Some more Iridium patch design tutorials like this would be great (pads and soundscapes). Have a good day.
@MartinStuertzer No over bridge as of yet but I have heard that it will come very quick (compared to digitakt II). We shall see. Also no public beta synth that I’m aware of.
So relatable, from the eternal pet hair battle, to the mucking up the in progress patch design, to only just getting into the FM side of the Iridium. The fact that you have two Iridiums and have used them quite extensively on this channel, but are only just getting into the Kernel engine, really does highlight how deep the Iridium is.
Got so much out of this video, Martin! FM can be intimidating, but these breakdowns are super helpful! Will try this with Dune VST or Operator, and see how close I can get to making a usable patch! 😬🎉
I’ve been keenly watching all your Iridium content for a while. I finally was in a position to order one and it arrived this week….but it was DOA and has to go back! 😢 I guess I’m going to have to wait just a little bit longer to get my hands on one!
I would argue that the iridium is the most under rated synth on the market at the moment. Thank you for show casing but a fraction of its capability. Have you tried using MPE on this synth yet? Appreciate that you share your knowledge and your music. Cheers from Canada.
Tolles, lehrreiches Video vom Meister! Große Klasse, vielen Dank. Waldorf hätte statt den ganzen überfrachteten und musikalisch wenig sinnvollen vorinstallierten Presets mal bei Dir vorsprechen sollen und dann auch nutzbare Sounds mitliefern können. LG ✌️
awesome content................................Yes, those touchpads can be a bitch. When I was doing some programming on the Iridium, sometimes it felt like I was just working on a softsynth.....perhaps on an iPad, because there was so much screen content, and menu diving...........I also had to deal with 2 problematic encoders (this is part of Waldorf's legacy, as I had the same issues with my MicrowaveXT and my Blofeld) .....great sounds, but perhaps not an ideal workflow.
@ not sure . Was looking at various post on different platforms with customers mentioning that. In the attached link this TH-camr mentions this at the 1:10 mark.
Ah. I think he is talking about the Iridium Core, which I never had in my studio. My Iridum Desk (and also Iridium Keyboard) are running several hours in my studio each day and I had no problems with overheating.
Hello, Martin. Always love your sound design videos. If anyone wants a clear yet and comprehensive explainer of FM synthesis, I highly recommend Daniel Fisher's video on the sweetwater channel. I went from completely lost to full understanding in just one viewing. th-cam.com/video/YV9vQGqoO5c/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Sweetwater
Thank you for allowing Neptun to participate as your Sound Design Assistant. Great performances from both of you - audio AND video!! 🎶😸

Always love FM stuff! Great sounds Martin. I recently got the Digitone II and am reinvigorated with FM synthesis.
Sold my Digitone back then, but maybe I will get weak again. Does it have Overbridge yet, or did they release a "public beta" synth again?
@MartinStuertzer No over bridge as of yet but I have heard that it will come very quick (compared to digitakt II). We shall see. Also no public beta synth that I’m aware of.
Finally some new Iridium content. Good timing Martin. I was just about to go to the Studio and fire up the Iridium.
Seriously? I just sat down in my studio to explore how to program FM on my Iridium, and this video comes up??? Are you psychic? Thank you!
Neptun can read the thoughts of all Iridium owners.
Good job friend! It's a shame not to have all those wonders in my room.
I am sure the same sound could be programmed with Ableton Operator or Arturia DX7 emulation. Don't feel bad for not having so many synths!
Love the hardware tutorials, excellent video! 🙌
Thanks for posting this great video on FM! FM is really exciting and feels a bit underrepresented compared to classic substractive synthesis.
Wow! @5:23 Delightful! This is the first time I've heard Neptun's purr.
yes! Isn't it sweet?
Thank you Martin! I have neglected the FM on Iridium up till now. This will get me started with FM again
Amazing, love these videos, best explanation of fm on iridium 🙂Thank you Martin
That cat knows a thing or two about synths
Like where the most heat rises through it.
The cat Neptun loves it too !
Excellent, Martin. I have not delved much into the kernel mode. Now I want to play!
Beautiful 💖💖💖

The purr oscillator is really impressive sounding.

Super gemacht nur schade für mich weil mein Englich nicht so prima ist! Es wäre aber toll noch mehr solche Iridium Beispile von Dir zu bekommen!!!

Thank you! I don't have a good MPE controller to test it, but it should work.
The opening scene... Neptune watching intently. Learning. Studying. Ready to take over as the next ambient mastermind.

Danke! Das Init Patch ist auch mein lieblings-Sound auf dem Iridium.
👍
Intro: Iridium covered in cat hair.
Afterwards: Iridium cleaned by magic sounds ;-)
I would love to see some videos on the virus :)
Ok so I’m NOT the only one who Elmer Fudd blows my own face off halfway through. That’s refreshing to see.
What is sweeter the pet or the pad? 🥰😉 i think Neptune wins...

I am totally lost with FM synthesis, I either get the sounds of harsh bells or screaming cats when trying to program anything 😆
Any issues with overheating?
Why would it overheat?

@@MartinStuertzer sounds good. Thanks for the response
Oh look, techno cat is watching
Neptuns Schnurren...
Ich schmolz.
Neptun? Wohl eher Neptune
