Ohhh I've been waiting for this. It's been surprising how little TH-cam output there was when it got released & I'm very glad you're one of the first to showcase it.
Technologically this is an amazing achievement. I'm not a DSP expert but I have looked into how some of it is coded, and I can't even begin to imagine how much work this was. And it sounds incredible... this might be the thing that makes me finally consider getting Phaseplant!
Played with it tonight, on synths, on classical instruments libraries etc. This is so cool, you can make digital sound more analog and vice versa, repurpose all sorts of sounds. Automation etc. Excellent for sound effects/design. So many avenues. I have loads of Wavetables, generally well-organized (that'll help). This thing can do more filtering than IG influencers.
I get Infected Mushroom vibes and I love it. Almost a Filterverse sound. The only thing missing may be a gate. Maybe time for me to be a supporter to get some of these sounds. 🎉
Not quite the same but I have a plugin called Digitalis, where you can draw different shapes and use them as a filter. This seems to be a similar idea but much more powerful.
Hearing your last point about the inharmonic overtones, thinking about the spectral information that's being applied, I just wondered if it could produce anything useful if you put a frequency shifter before and after the filtertable, with equal and opposite values
Actually yes, someone in my discord made a really cool patch which does that, although it's more like a modal harmonic balance rather than individual inharmonics, but you're onto something and yes that is possible and sounds very nice!
I was in the same boat during the beta phase - couldn't wait to show off the wild things that could be done with this! Another thing for people to be aware of is that the cutoff frequency is centered on the 24th Harmonic (unless Per Larsson changed that and I didn't realize it).
The 24th harmonic... of what frequency? A harmonic is a multiple of a base frequency. So the 24th harmonic of 10hz would be 240hz. Do you mean the knob at its default position is centered on the 24 harmonic of whatever keytracked note you play?
@@notnoaintno5134 From the manual: "The cutoff frequency of the resulting filter. In Filter Table the cutoff signifies the frequency of harmonic 24 in the Wavetable." To be perfectly honest, I'm still trying to wrap my head around it myself.
I mean, it was always going to be an immediate purchase wasn't it! Great demonstration, and your excitement for this is infectious... I wonder if its addition will inspire a new Khs content pack? ;-)
Thanks and yea I've been wanting to and loosely working on some stuff and this was one of the things I was waiting for to really put the cherry on top, but I can't say any more yet ;)
I saw someone in another video using some gnarly .wav bass samples as a wavetable in filtertable which brings me to the question you might be able to answer: If you were to drag a .wav in as a wavetable for filtertable, im assuming you would need that .wav sample to be in the same key as whatever you're going to write in in right? Or when it converts it to a wavetable does it default to having no pitch?
Most wavetable editors allow you to determine the pitch, in Phase Plant is no different, when you drag the sample in it prompt for input pitch. You don't always need to do it and can get experimental results making it incorrect, but for chromatic stuff then yes, you can tune it
Europa in Reason has done this for ages. It can be interesting. Being more freely routable, incl used as a VST Effect could be nice (no audio in in Europa). 🙂
@@DashGlitch Yesso indeed. That was an update so not there if you tested the initial release. You can DIY with one of the MSEGs (but not several to sweep) or use a Sample that can sweep.
Another great tutorial! Do you mind me asking, do you manage to make a living with your sound design and music? My son wants to but has no clue where to even begin! Cheers
Yes but through a lot of avenues, the sound design is just a small portion, i'm gonna be honest it's a tough one to break into but that's how it is in most industries now. When I started I didn't know it would be my career and it's been a pretty long journey here, so it's important to come at it from the angle of a sound-enjoyer and not just a career, otherwise one might burn out - because it can be an arduous journey
This is fantastic. We love how you teach us things about our own plugins! Thanks, Dash! 🥰
Now that's a compliment right there! Well done Dash 👋👋👋
Not only that, but he's also heroically shielding the community from those ever-meanacing scam VSTs. Like a fourth musketeer, if you will.
I remember he did similar with the eq before this came out

lol true! haha
this is madness
What an amazing new filter! Absolutely love it :)
It really is! and thanks for watching!
What a treat - look forward to designing custom banks. Thanks for the excellent preview Dash.
let’s collab on a track Avery!

this is really cool. its not often you see something innovative come out these days
That's pretty cool
You can make wavetable of sample and use its harmonics to apply it to any sound 😮
5:38 doubled up my heartbeat from here on! 😍
Just perfect!
It’s just amazing. Will try it out at the weekend! Thx Dash for the great explanation. ❤
Dude. It's so magical!!! 😍😍😍and I love it so much, I've decided I'm gonna marry it.

Digitalis is awesome yea, its a spectral filter so it's based on similar building blocks yea!
Interesting concept we were just talking about doing this in kyma7++ and the pan pipe worked out well
Filter heaven! Kilohearts FTW 💃🏼Thanks for the heads up, Dash!
Scanning the filter tables reminds me of the filter/effect comps on Infected Mushroom "Mush Mushi"
Very well done informative video! And fantastic sounds as always
This is really dope!

i cant belive how a filter can do this
Nice video. This plugin is really fun ;)
Reminds me somewhat of Dmitry Thorn vst which is a spectral synth. I can play with these kind of things for hours
❤ Great video. Those guys make some cool stuff for sure. 👏🏻
It's very helpful.
what was that flute patch your demoed, so good!
I’ve uploaded that to my patreon 😁
We are steadily creeping ever closer to having a wavetable convolution reverb be fully viable
That's kinda what this is, except the time is fixed so sadly no reverb, but that's what Convolver is for.

Yes, the parameters base frequency is centered at 24th harmonic.
Where i can find that lead preset its fire
It's on my Patreon
Great point about how you need to be care w/ filters as the gain gets way radical. Same thing with Filtryg a bit 😂

Very cool! Now I want this in a Eurorack module…
rossum morpheus
when i first saw the plugin i was like "oh its just a fancy filter" then i heard what it can do and i definitely need to buy it lol

Can you load wavetables?

Very nice
Hell Yeah, Rock On Man
Dude!
Smooth random is the real star of the show here 😅
bro, wtf... This is a game changer!!! Why is this concept only a thing now?!
Virtual Riot, I know you're here somewhere :)
Pre X-Mas time is saved :D
do a video on the best black friday psy trance plugins!!!!!
mmmh Coffee...good Idea..😋
This is going to ressurect acid/trance.
Will you be uploading all the wavetables for your 5$ subscribers at Patreon?
The filterTables folder I showed here and the presets are on Patreon 😃
Haha yeah, i think i got the message during your video 😄 Sorry, i just couldn't help myself. Have a great day.
👉Phase plant or Current ?
Phase plant by a long shot
21/11/24- its half price atm
RIP Cubase
All your bass are belong to bus
Hi please help. Can you make this sound of this video at (6:25)
I guess how to make it.

its just a filter
It's not, it's actually a new take on convolution/spectral processing - but even so, filters are still sound design essentials lol.
