Christopher was a broken person from early on in his life searching for the father he never knew and Tony exploited that for his own gain. You can see the torment that dysfunctional father-son relationship stirred in him during scenes like this one throughout the show. Christopher believes he's going to Hell for Tony's approval and doesn't get any recognition or proper gratitude for his efforts. What a terrific character.

    • @antoniodecruz7446

I don't believe it's dysfunctional at all. There's plenty of examples you can find where Tony and Chris have one of their moments. They do love each other, they just trapped in showing love through subtle body language. They never spoke out of their feelings how you'd expect.

In this scene, Chis says something like "Tony B could get us all killed with NY, and yet Tony has to think about what to do with him. With me, he doesn't have to think".
This turned out to be eerily accurate. Tony was very reluctant to kill his cousin. But with Chris, he truly had no reservations.

      @ocd9033 2 ปีที่แล้ว +88

lol what are you talking about. If Christopher was anyone else, he would have been killed much earlier. The drug abuse alone would have probably gotten him killed. Made him unreliable.. and a weak link to law enforcement.
plus him shooting Tony's car, and then coming into the Bing and pointing a gun and pulling the trigger.. even though it was empty. So yeah.. if anyone besides Christopher did that, he would have been whacked much earlier. so Tony had plenty of reservations.

"That's the guy Adrianna, my uncle Tony. The guy I'm going to hell for."
One of Chris' most memorable lines when it comes to discussing Tony. Incredibly ironic to boot, as Tony was not only the reason Chris believed he was going to hell, but actually sent him there himself. Had he known that, maybe he wouldn't have gone to hell after all.

+knowsmebyname the bible says that even one lie will condemn someone to hell which is why Jesus had to die for every sin of every person, and that the only reason anyone has to go to hell to pay for their sins is because they "have not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." If you believe on Christ alone and what he did in his death burial and resurrection you can know for a fact you are on your way to heaven and never have to worry about going to hell because Christ died for all of your sins past present and future. God will chasten and punish a Christian for their wrongdoings in this earth but will not send them to he for any reason because the bible promises that "whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." If God takes it away, it was not eternal and didnt last forever. Jesus promises multiple times in the bible that once you come to him he will not send you to hell or kick you out of his family. the same way our parents will always be our parents. most people think being good can get you to heaven. unfortunately the bible says "there is none that doeth good; no not one." we've all sinned many times and can't trust in our own works to save us. the bible says heaven is a free gift completely paid for by Christ and that we receive it one time and are saved forever. the bible plainly states, "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." The bible says over and over that it's only faith that can save. not confessing to a priest, not taking communion weekly, not giving to charity, but believing on Christ and excepting the gift of salvation one time. the bible says "believe on the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life. " If you're trusting Jesus alone you don't have have to worry about going to hell. he won't let you down. the bible is clear Jesus is God manifest in the flesh (God became a person as Jesus) and that he is the one and only way to heaven and to escape hell. "he that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him."-John 3:36. TH-cam search "the bible way to heaven" by Sanderson1611 for more info. it's a short video and will show you what God says about it.

Ok I read your little "essay" here and just want to point out you are COMPLETELY WRONG ON ONE OF YOUR OWN MAJOR POINTS: Jesus did not die for "ALL OF OUR SINS, PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE." Jesus died to forgive man of ORIGINAL SIN, because without forgiveness of original sin not a single person past present or future would be born without sin, and thus born to make their own choices to either sin or not. All he did in essence was "wipe the slate clean from birth" but after that there have been PLENTY OF SINNERS who (according to your very own dogman) go to hell (ever read Dante's Inferno? And Jesus had been crucified long before that)? Jesus doesn't remove all sins PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE BY DYING, he removed ORIGINAL SIN WHICH WAS CAUSED BY ADAM AND EVE.
I'm not that into religion but even i know this from the years of bible school I took.
Just by listening to Jesus' preaching and ACTING like a good person, did not make you aoog person and thus you were a sinner. Jesus led by example, he was a "fisher of men" and those that followed his example and lessons are the ones who were welcome into heaven.
And let us not forget Jesus' last words: "Forgive them father, they know not what they do." Even as he lay dying he asked for the forgiveness of those sinning against him and begged for god to spare his wrath upon them.
Pretty much what you said was just a rambling somewhat incoherent mess that completely missed the message, and point, of Jesus dying.
Heaven is NOT A COMPLETELY FREE GIFT GIVEN BY JESUS GIVING HIS LIFE. IT SIMPLY REMOVED ORIGINAL SIN, thus allowing us, mere mortals, THROUGH FREE WILL the CHOICE to make of whether or not to sin farther and throw away the sacrifice Jesus made for us, or to embrace it, love him for it, and lead a good, simple, life, devoid of any extraneous luxuries, and commitment to the aid of the poor, sick, and dying both in word and action, by both donating things that we could go without and that the poor had not and needed in order to survive and even thrive, especially if the person giving them these things taught them the "holy message".
Again, Im not a bible scholar, just someone who attended FAR TOO MANY YEARS OF first communion classes, first confession classes, confirmation and in some instaneces ,fulfill other sacraments by an ordained priest.
Jesus's death did not "remove all sin for all of humanity" it removed ORIGINAL SIN, which was the intent, because without the removal of ORIGINAL SIN no babe, no child, no adult, no anyone, could have EVER made it into heaven even if they lead the most pious, frugal, best life possible. This again is all according to what the poster i am relying to write, as well as my own personal lessons and insights into Christianity, Catholic specifically, the religion I was raised with until the age of 14, and the very blatantly obvious reason of why Jesus died: to forgive ORIGINAL SIN, not ALL sin. If jesus' death forgave all sin, past, present, and future, why in the name of everything would people have to go to confessional? If your position is true, all of their sins are forgiven from the get go, so a person can go out, rape, pillage, and murder and it's all forgiven without any need for confession, absolution or any of the other holy sacraments because "Jesus died for ORIGINAL SIN, a sin that EVERY CHILD WOULD HAVE BEEN BORN WITH HAD JESUS NOT HAVE GIVEN HIS OWN LIFE, and therefore all people, regardless of Christianity, religion, or any good deed they may have done would have allowed them entrance into paradise , because they would have been born with a sign that was not-removable, no matter how many good deeds or great things they accomplished during life. This is why the Virtuous Pagans section of Datnes descent into hell exists: These "Virtuous Pagans exist not in a state of suffering but aside but rather in a sort of state of limbo: these are men who would have, had they accepted Jesus, ascended into heave, because they lead virtuous pious lives, never cheating or committing adultry, and worked for the betterment of man kind.
In fact, some of these very same "virtuous pagans" contributions were so great in gods eyes and they were unable to know of jes existence because they were born before he The Son that is (one of the elements of god) that allowed some of them to ascend into heaven. So no, its not just about all the good you do after your born, but according to CHRISTIAN DOGMA some of these people WERE ALLOWED INTO HEAVEN , or at least denied the suffering of Hell and its rivers of excrement, and hell fire and beating, torture and rape of everyone ranging from babies who went baptized.
Honestly man I think you should read the bible because there are so many things that you stated to be correct that are ust flat out wrong that im wondering if you eve opened up a cliffnotes

So much insight into the characters in the short scene. Tony tells Christopher about a major fuck up in the cigarette operation he was overseeing and Christopher shrugs it off. He then asks Tony about an “executive- level” issue regarding Phil and Tony B. that is not really his concern.
Like so many who climb the ladder too fast (or are pushed up it) Christopher pre-occupies himself with the high-level issues he believes he should get to work on while half-assing the work he’s been given to gain experience and prove his abilities with.
It’s only when Tony tells Christopher that Paulie is now going to supervise him (and get a cut from his take) does he get the situation. In Christopher’s mind he is Tony’s peer and confidant. Tony just reminded him he still has a long way to go to prove his leadership.
Of course instead of swallowing the bitter pill and learning from it, Chrissy sulks and complains to Adriana.

“Executive level decision”? You do know Chris is Tony’s number 2, his heir apparent, and tony b’s cousin. If anyone had the right to ask that question it’s Chris. And how are we mad at Chris for the cigarette shit, that isn’t even really his fault, when Tony’s procrastination on tony b is actively harming his family? Then he puts paulie in there, who is the burgess fuck up in the family?

@@thedangerwich5476Paulie is a worker and is generally reliable. He's a neurotic maniac who would kill you for $100 and it's said multiple times that he doesn't kick up his full share to Tony, but he undeniably gets the work done. The early scenes when Chrissy gets made show Paulie schooling Christopher on not being late with money, too.
The only time i can think of that shows Paulie in a negative like (in terms of professionalism) is when he needlessly picks a fight with the Czech interior decorator in Pine Barrens, lol. Well, that and his tattling to Johnny Sack. He was just like his adoptive mother in that respect -- a gossip.

I wonder if Michael Imperioli wrote a lot of this character ? Maybe he has some kind of darkness in him because Christopher had fucking demons and the acting is so convincing it makes you wonder. In the show all of them were morally stumped or ambigous but his character stands out above the rest to me as tormented, and no matter the girl/money/power he was never happy.

He was to be the new boss of the family. It's not unreasonable to have higher standards for someone like that and even berate them at times to prepare them for the position. It's a complex dynamic.
