    It's great that you repeat tests on devices after updates. OMG, It's absurd that Samsung managed to worsen the watch accuracy after the update! It would be awesome if you retested on Mi Band 6 after the updates. A test on the new cheap redmi watch 2 lite would also be awesome. Congratulations on your excellent work! All TH-cam reviewers should consult your videos before reviewing on their channels.

      Mi Band 6 is OK.. better than GW4 in my testing but still quite often has a fit and goes crazy on just a walk and says VO2 Max + 180HR when walking where really next to no effort is being used (easy to talk etc).... I've tried all different positions and band tightness changes. I gave up and got a Garmin instead and it's been perfect. Mi Band 6 is perfect otherwise but this HR bug I think is a sensor limitation as it only has one HR sensor, Garmin have two or more depending on the version.

    One of the rare channels where the tests have actual value. Keep up the good work!
    It might've been interesting to have a 3rd reference for the same workout tests (e.g Apple watch 7). That could help identify if polar had some bad readings potentially in some scenarios.

    I have had my Watch 4 Classic for about 16 months now and unfortunately the heart rate monitor is still, after a number of big updates where Samsung claims to have improved it, quite bad. Same goes for SpO2 and sleep monitoring. I go for long walks at a brisk pace and I haven't had more than a few walks where the heart rate monitor doesn't stop working randomly, for a varying amount of time. It happens almost every time. I've tried a looser fit, a tighter fit, both wrists, different bands. I even got a replacement watch, but nothing works.
    In some cases the heart rate monitoring stopped working altogether and wouldn't come back until I rebooted the watch. I like my Watch 4 Classic in other ways, but I will definitely not be getting another Samsung watch for a while. While a good smart watch for things like communication and navigation and phone calls and such, with a lot of apps, it's downright bad for monitoring pulse, blood oxygen and sleep.

    Thanks for doing this retest! I think what people dont seem to get when they see graphs not aligning perfectly is that from my own testing the average HR and Max HR will align very closely between devices like Polar chest straps, Garmin running watches and the GW4. Day to day no one is comparing different graphs, just the end stats which are pretty accurate anyway, easily good enough to use as a fitness device on a smart watch.
    Can I ask if you also found the average HR and max HR data was accurate between the devices regardless of what the graphs looked like?

    I've been seeing some very strange results from just standing still and tracking with an exercise running, vs just the background tracking without exercise mode. There's a 10-20 bpm difference for some reason.

    I respect the results he was able to get. Now my problem is the watch band as hard and non flexible they are the absolute worst why not switch to the same type of band you used on the series 7. Your a scientist correct? So by degree your smarter then I am plus you got all the gadgets to back you up correct? Now if loose fitting, bumps, shakes, etc… screw the results why use a band that makes the watch sit insecurely on your wrist. And there is no way you can tighten that band to secure it and I can back that data. I use mines all day unloading trucks, running, working out etc… with a sports band no problem with the in box bands just bad. I love that you have all the equipment and what you do but how correct are those results using the in box band that’s not secured properly.

I need a watch or a band that can detect HR, SPO2, and BP. budget is $400 or much better $300 below. I know that it cannot replace medical equipment's, but it will help in monitoring while I am on a daily living activity. Accuracy is of the essence. I am eyeing at Galaxy Active 2. I'm a bit suspicious of this video. I've had the Galaxy 4 watch for a month and one thing that I've searched for continually and cannot find is any way to upload the data to to a phone.
    I don't see any way that you could create these graphs since the best the phone will do do is tell you your heart beat at this moment or summarizer highs and lows for the day.. All of the other data is lost and from searching the Internet I have the impression that there is no way to upload is the way to upload more data for the kind of analysis that you are doing .
    It also takes time to take your heart rate on the watch. You have to ask it to do it and then it takes a few seconds before the answer comes. So even if you kept recording the data it would not lead to very detailed graphs for the kind of workouts that you are showing.

    • @eliasbane3588
      @eliasbane3588 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm suspicious too because I think the results on my GW4 are not so terrible. Maybe it loses some peaks during weight lifting but not such think as he presents. And I don't think other smartwatches do it perfectly (like apple 7 or Huawei gt3 like he presents). For example if my actual heart rate is 150 BPM during one set of weight lifting the artery on the hand is in diastolic phase and the signal gets weak. The signal gets stronger when you stop the set and the blood flow increases. So practically no watch can track heart rate perfectly. Also there are so many factors that he doesn't take into account. For example if someone has cold hands, the signal gets also weak because of the reduced blood flow to the hands. And last but not least, the accuracy gets better as you wear the watch because it learns your patterns. It's not the same if I wear the watch for the first day and after one or two weeks.

      @@gwine9087 It happens the same to me. Heart rate goes higher during workouts, that it really is. Even after stopping workout, the heart rate stays or jumps to higher values. This is happening quite often, randomly, more when I choose the "other Workout". Difficult to track the bug and I don't have the option to report it to Samsung. The heart rate values were confirmed by me with another watches and even manually while resting!!

    I'd be interested to see a sleep update for the watch4. The deep value metrics to me at least seem to have gotten. Considerably better to my Fitbit Alta hr that is on its' last legs.

    Nowhere near the accuracy of Apple Watch. Poor implementation of software by Samsung. I would love to wear Samsung Galaxy Watch, if it did not have the inferior health metrics. SpO2, blood pressure, body composition still gimmick on Samsung.

    Don't say that you do scientist measurements, it's not honest, you need to test with various context and several people, not only you. Btw there is a new update since the latest big one.

    Thanks for the updated review. Much appreciated. Samsung needs to pull an Apple tactic: copy the technology, grab market share, and settle in court later. Honestly, for the size of Samsung and the resources they have there's no excuse for them not being neck and neck with Apple. Looks like they'll focus on emojis, new watch faces and other abysmal offerings such as blood oxygen and body fat readings. I can only imagine the conversations at Samsung: "We only have a +- error factor of 40bpm for heart tracking. That'll work".

    • @LaurenceGough
      @LaurenceGough 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's because Samsung don't care. They're too big to care. They have plenty of fangirls and fanbois to carry them it seems, it's really odd, I see them defending massive faults. Samsung still charge a large price premium of course...

    You guys, I guess, have heart problems, right? 🤣
    The sensors of Gw4 is better than the previous series and that's enough for me. You don't just pay for the accuracy of this watch. You pay for the nice look,the stainless steel material,for the wear os 3,which is good enough and has a lot of potential to become even better AND some decent measurements(surely not perfect).Basically you have a smartphone on your hand.If you want perfect accuracy because you have a heart problem or you are a professional athlete,go get a Garmin watch. If you have an I phone go get Apple Watch. It's that simple.

      Shut up, Samsung Fanboy. If he's is sponsored by Apple, he doesn't praised the Huawei Gt3 and GT Runner. I tested the Watch 4 with a Polar H10 and the Samsung showed discrepancies on the measurements. No way is what your thoughts.
