Thank you very much for watching 🤗 - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
It looks great specially with the band
This wood is not an elder but a member of the maple family (ACER) and its botanical name is Acer Negundo. Where I live in Edmonton Albert Canada we refer to it as Manitoba Maple of ash leaved maple. This is probably where it has been given a name a name of a species (elder) which it is not. Manitoba maples are prone to burls and when stressed will turn bright red to pink in the heart wood.
I have just been directed to your site by a fellow turner and been having a self-mini-symposium and have watched half a dozen of your videos in the passed couple days. I have been very impressed by the way you work your tool control and explain what you are doing. I have brought your name up to the local guild as a must watch for all turners particularly beginners as you have a great teaching technique. I personally am closely watching your tool control and have change my tool use and grind accordingly and am having great success.
Thank you for your input and glad to hear that my videos help out... Thank you for watching
The bead indeed looks cool, and the shift does give some extra character! Nicely done, very smooth and light work, gentle man! Thank you!
Thank you Boris😀
I am typically not a fan of natural edge bowls but I really like how you did the rim black. Very nice. Thanks for showing us new skills.
Glad you like it, thank You for watching 🤗
Another great project. The final warping on the big bowl really makes it stand out.
Indeed it stands out 😀 thank you for watching 🤗
The band is a very nice touch, and the black rim adds great character. Thanks for sharing. Always a pleasure to watch you turn!
Take care, Dave
Thank you mr.Dave very much 🤗
Thanks for this contribution. I particularly appreciated the adjustment process with the recess. I will try it ! I might have painted the rim and also under the bead of the small bowl, which would cover the black sanding residues.
Thank you sir ...😀
Those are lovely. I just got some wet Oak tonight, from a friend who works with Roads Service, so I am going to try putting that little bead on some of them. My friend also told me he will watch out for good wood at any tree removals and bring me some. I think my wife was thrilled when she heard there was more wood arriving. LOL
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Thank you Brendan, aaaa that is good frend to have , give him bowls and he will get you nice logs☺️
Hi 👋, nice job 👍, Phil.
Nice pair of bowls, Tom! Great edges and the bead really sets them off. I really like the way the larger one dried. I had one vase with a narrow base that distorted so far that it almost tipped over once it was dry.
I am fortunate to have Box Elder (Manitoba Maple) plentiful on the Canadian prairies and when maple bugs have been at it is when the red flame appears. Beautiful to look at and cuts so nicely. Tim Yoder just turned two platters of Box Elder. In his video he comments that the red flame will fade with time. He is correct, the colour will fade. UV light accelerates it, so a UV protective finish will help. Tim mentioned knowing a turner who would dye the red areas to match so that when the natural colour fades the dye will still be there. It's true, the dye is a great idea and will last longer, but light will change it, just as it will darken the wood. Just thought I'd share the UV protection info to readers.
Thanks for keeping up the Four Ways projects.
Thank you Jay for watching and comment 😀
Nicely done, TWO matching bowls. Excellent- (and your camera work is also top notch, very enjoyable to watch) Sam
Thank you Sam, I gotta try your microfone trick where you suspended in air....🤗
I think the black milk paint on the rim was a nice, clean contrast. I think some other colors could also have worked well.
Thank you Mike, I wasn't bold enough to try other colors😅 went for color of the bark ,to play it on safer side, but I do have lovely blue which now I'm sorry I didn't use😀
I dream of one day owning a lathe and turning wood. Thank you for your channel and dedication to passing on your knowledge as it makes my dream seem all the more possible.
Glad to hear that and as with anything in life, its about starting and practice..... Wish you good luck on your journey
You might have a local turning club or training facility that offers classes and access to equipment, no need to necessarily wait on your dream!
@@blueridger that is great advice, clubs and classes can boost your dream☺️
Beautiful pair of bowls. Shame the bark came off but that is the risk. Still, very lovely. Thank you for sharing the experience with us.
Glad You like it😀
That's a lovely looking pair of bowls. Great grain on the big one. A shame the bark didn't hold on. but it's not the season for bark-edge bowls. Looking forward to see what you can do with curved coring blades. And many thanks for the tool handling tips and another excellent and educational video.
Thank you Joris🤗
The black paint does make the bowl. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you very much for watching 🤗
I love the design! Perhaps you could repeat it when a winter felled log becomes available.
Will do sir.... I like making live edge bowls☺️
Very nice Tomislav,
I really enjoy the 4ways series. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Steven for watching 🤗

You are buttery smooth with your cuts sir.
Thank you sir 🤗
Nice job , I like the black paint on the box elder nice touch .
Thank you 😀
I really enjoy your work and explanations. Great fun!
Thank you very much
Looks great! Love the black rim!
Thank you very much 🤗
Biggest thing for long be edge is the bark. You are right. Fall and winter for cutting down to hold the bark.
Those factors really do help out☺️
Very nice treatment of the natural edge.
Thank you Sir☺️
Very cool project and interesting approach to this project. That bead almost gives the two pieces an emerging bowl effect. Just watched Sam's and now yours, off to watch the other two.
Thank you very much 🤗
Love your Woodturning’s! Excellent
Glad you like that 🤗 thank you
Very nice.
Thank you 😀
Very nice work ❤
Thank you ☺️
Very beautiful Tomislav.
Thank you very much 🤗
Very well done sir. I like the ring. Your speach is wonderful and honest : ) ...
Ohhh thank you very much 🤗 , I still have a lot to work on my English but getting there 😅
Going great. Down in steps.
Thank you🤗
Thanks
Thank You ☺️
Thank you Tomislav. I enjoy your videos and learn something from each one. I dont know if you can answer questions here but i"ll ask any way. I have a 12x21 midi lathe. when I put a fairly large piece of wood on it to do a bark edge bowl I have trouble when i get to the inside. My lathe shakes and I cant get up enough speed to get a smooth cut. thanks for any help you can provide.
Hi, well a lot can couse lathe to shake, imbalance piece, not bolted down, bad lathe....
But what I would try depends on your setup, try to bold down lathe to a table if you have, and the table to floor.
Also try to find if it sits on the floor correct.
Finally ,some pieces,if the grain is on one side of bowl dense and on other spalted, that can shake 400kg lathe without to much issue ,let alone midi lathe.
Send me an email after you check these stuff mentioned if it doesn't help,so I could try help out further.
Thanks for the quick reply. I have the lathe bolted to a cabinet but the cabinet is not bolted to the floor. I will try to see if there is a way that I could bolt it to the floor. thanks for your help and all of your videos.
Barry
hi. I tried attaching the cabinet to the floor and that helped alot. I still got a little vibration until I got it balanced. after that there was no more shaking. Thank you so much for your help both for this problem and all the other videos you make. I dont know how you have time to make a living when you are making videos and helping out other people. Thanks again for your help and your videos. you make me a much better turner. Not as good as you though, I'll probably never be as good as you. Have a great day. Barry
@@bjames2758 hi Barry, glad it helped out, enjoy it now😀.
I try to find a way to make everything with family first, its not easy but it can be done.☺️.
Thank you very much for kind words and as with everything, its all about practice practice and more practice.
Try to challenge yourself with jobs a little bit of your comfort zone and do more jobs that noone wants, that kinda jobs helps out a lot.
You have made some very nice bowls for the challenge. What does Dodir Drva actually mean in english?
Thank you very much, Dodir Drva is my brand name, rough transition would be 'feel the wood'
Nice as usual... what degree bevel do you have on your scraper? Thank you.
45 deegres to 50, thank you for watching 🤗
Zdravo Tom, pekná práca 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 aké drevo to bolo?
Thank you very much 🤗 I think its box elder.... Its hard to tell as this is not native tree to Croatia 😀
Bonjour comment s’appelle le système en acier pour séparer les deux bols merci 👍
Its called McNaughton coring system
Thanks you
Bonsoir c’est du bois vert ? 🤘
