Realizing I couldn't do everything I wanted to do especially being able to stream where I wanted I've decided it's time to buy a capture card and figure out how they work. Took a risk about a month ago and got one and while I didn't test everything you did (thank you) I've been very happy with mine. Like the UVC. Also took a risk and bought the newest Mirabox USB-C Capture Card,. You should try it out as well. Provided UVC as well. I am returning that only because I really don't need two for my usage. Thanks for the video. Tried my version with Sony a7riii and other digital mirrorless cameras.
My Elgato HD60 S is no longer cooperating, so I'll probably try this out since it's a UVC device and I really like the compatibility of this thing. Thanks for being so thorough.
I am struggling here! I think I have watched EVERY single one of your capture device videos, but I am still unable to answer one main quesiton... When you say, "4k passthrough" does that mean the device will pass through 4k to OBS, which would allow me to record 4k in OBS? Or does that mean only 4k pass through to my screen and I would only be able to push through 1080p to OBS. I am attempting to use OBs to run my mirrorless 4k camera and would LOVE to capture and record 4k to OBS. I would love some help, or a response from you or anyone in your community that can help. Hey Man thanks for this awesome recco here, adding it to my list. Im curious if you have any recommendations for how I might setup 2 people sitting side by side, playing on a console, streaming via a laptop? Specifically what kind of mic would you use?
I really wish 1440p capture was standard already. There are so many great monitors now that are 1440p high refresh and yet virtually every single capture card are still stuck in the 1080p past. I'm aware that 1080p is still the most common resolution for gamers (for ... some ... reason) but if 1440p capture came as standard it would give people who DON'T play at that resolution at least options - and options are never a bad thing! :) I don't want to be forced to play at 1080p on my 1440p monitor (which most force you to do), and whilst 4k pass-through is nice, it would be nice to actually capture and stream my monitors native resolution too cos it would look better on stream!!
My experience with this capture card is not good. Now I'm not a pro or anything, but as opposed to my old Elgato game capture HD or even the $15 Goodan one, there is flicker/stutter in the image. The backgrounds in Super Mario Maker 2 (NSMB winter trees, specifically) move left and right rapidly, like they're shaking. If I switch back to Elgato, same cables, same capture software, that issue is not present. The backgrounds are perfectly still, as they should be. Either mine is faulty, either it's something they all do and it was not noticed in the review, or it's something on my end, but why would the other two capture cards work fine in that case...

I got the cloner alliance 4k, black, like the elgato cam link. It works but so grainy, not good! Cloner told me to adjust resolution.. Lolol I was like what, not good support either!
I really just want a sub-100$ card for my camera. Even at normal price I feel the camlink is too pricey when you've already shelled out $150+ on a camera.
Yeah. I really hope this tech gets cheaper in the future. The cost of these devices is one of the reasons I haven't switched to console. It's also a factor in whether I buy a better webcam or camera + capture card (I have a DSLR, but not really space to set it up properly)
I think its just something that will have to wait until after prices come back down to normal unfortunately. Tons of cards that were previously in the 99 and below price bracket are now hiked up due to shortages. The Camlink itself was selling at 99 before the price was hiked up to well over 300 dollars. (Tho its standard MSRP is 120 but until recently I almost never saw it for that price.) It's an unfortunate reality, just hang in there and hopefully you'll be able to find something in the coming months.
Aw man "no HDR in any capacity" :( Not even washed-out-capture for a LUT :( kind of a bummer considering the Live Gamer Ultra is (normally) in a similar price range :/
is it possible that you can test this with stream elements mobile app and see if you can stream from their app using this card? would love to use my A5100 on the go to stream some RC stuff, but it's a bit expensive to buy and test :) Actually it would be nice if you included SL and SE apps in the UVC test as both of them should support UVC and UAC devices at least on android based devices. Also, if you have devices for it, test it on phones with USB2.0 and with USB3.0 (again if you have phones with either)
ive had nothing but issues with this card and got it based on ur recommendation :(. Colors look weird on my ps3 always have issues where my pc doesn't recognize the card and I have to restart been a huge headache. :(
Did you have any issues with playback? I've tried several ways to mitigate this but I can't seem to access the MP4 file as it gives me the error message "This file isn’t playable. That might be because the file type is unsupported, the file extension is incorrect, or the file is corrupt" I believe it's a software issue as I was able to record on OBS fine.

You said in your video that this is your new favorite USB capture card, but everything you talked about sounded incredibly average, especially for a card nearing the $200 mark. What would you say is the killer feature here that pushed it over the edge to be your favorite over something like the CamLink 4K plus a cheap HDMI splitter, which also does UVC support and 4K? Is it mainly the YUY2 support?
Adam, do you have any good recommendations for a UVC PCI-E capture card for Linux? I currently have the OG Razer Ripsaw and a BlackMagic Design Intensity Pro 4k... I have an SFC linedoubled (240p-480p) via a RetroTink2x but my IP4k doesn't like the altered sync/refresh rate. It just eternally V-Holds. I have video footage of it recorded if you want to see what it does.The aforementioned combo only works with my Ripsaw, that accepts the altered signal...
Can I record party audio with this? I have a headset that is connected to my controller - I want my party to be able to hear me but I want to record my voice with a separate mic in OBS.
@@EposVox maybe you got me on the inputs, I just ignored that part because I don't personally want that but splitters are really not that bad and even if I spent 50 dollars in a higher end splitter it's still cheaper than what the flint 4kp is priced at right now and the extremecap can dump out uncompressed footage
Oh my bad I didn't realize the encoding method was the same I take it back then. But I still believe that the extemecap is the better buy for me personally as the only con I think it has against the flint 4kp is the 4k passthrough and I'm looking at Amazon and decent splitters seem to be mostly going for 20 bucks on average so it's still cheaper for a lot of the same features that actually matter to me personally. You're probably right that the flint 4kp might be better value for most people but a lot of those extra features aren't that important to some
I just got this capture card in the mail and I'm wondering what video options will be presented to me for my Fuji XT3 in Streamlabs-OBS. The XT3 can do 4K 30/60 . ClonerAlliance has a strict return policy and I want to understand my options before opening it. Hoping I can get 4K30, but fine with 1080P 60.

@eposvox I have the original 4kp and I’m only getting the option for MJPG even though I’m connected via usb-c. Any ideas what may be causing that? I’m using with my fujifilm xt30 mirrorless camera for streaming. Everything looks pretty good even in MJPG but would still like to get the benefits of yuy2. Also I scanned the QR and there is no audio controller download just the helper and the cloner apps. Did it give you the option to download the audio controller or did you still just have the controller from when you originally downloaded it when you reviewed the original 4kp?
"FLINT 4KP AUDIO CONTROLLER" was included with the like 4 other apps the link gives you. I had trouble with some of my USB C ports - as is the case with many capture cards - only detecting it in USB 2.0 more.
EposVox I’ll have to check the download link again. It only gave me two apps. Cloner and helper. I was kind of bummed because I thought the audio controller seemed useful and kind of assumed they stopped supporting the app since your original review or something until I saw this one. As far as this usb Issue I want to say I tried switching to usb 3.0 when I was trying to figure it out but I couldn’t swear to it... I’ll give it a try again. I appreciate the reply!

Just about everything is being bought up and marked up because of the round Bois. Check prices on the Avermedia live gamer mini and the live gamer portable 2plus, and the earlier version of this card he mentions at the beginning. They're not perfect but they're ok. I use the latter 2 myself. But that's only if you can get them near pre Rona pricing
Having a streaming issue with this card. Every time I stream on Twitch using my single PC, I'm getting dropped frames. I've lower the stream output and quality settings (720P and 1600x900) and still having issues. I've tried 1080P on various refresh settings for the capture card, no changes. I would say I can do 10min in and get dropped frames. The cheap capture card you just recommended doesn't show this issue at any settings I throw at it. Any experience with capture cards dropping frames? I am using a 3900x, 2070 Super, NVENC for the stream, 6000bit as I have 15 upload speed
@@EposVox I also noticed that my network connection dropped 2 times. I think the USB port and network port was on the same bus. Can it be so? I couldn't debug the entire network because I was on a schools network. Maybe something else crashed? Ordered a PCI USB 3.1 card maybe this helps.

No 1440p, and no 120 plus fps was a deal breaker. Was hoping I'd get a card for under $200. All I want is a capture card that will record my game play at 1440p 120fps. I really don't want to spend $275 after taxes just to record a game.
Well if you’re on PC you don’t need a capture card, they generally only make performance worse on single PC setups. Otherwise the Live Gamer Ultra is 200 and under on eBay. It’s the only USB card that really does it
What would you recommend for zoom conferencing? I already have the cam link 4K, but it’s cheap and nasty- video stutters, it keeps freezing and build quality is poor. It doesn’t do justice to my Sony a6400. Any suggestions?

Most individual product reviews don’t have the room to explain every entry detail into what the core product concept does - especially when every product in the category does the same thing. I am not sure if "UVC PCI-E" exists, UVC stands for USB Video Class, it is a standard for connecting video devices via USB.
^ yeah some still work fine on Linux (mainly Blackmagic/Magewell) but not really UVC due to above

the avermedia extremecap uvc seems to be a little bit better for 110 dollars on amazon, you would just need to buy a splitter with it

As far as this usb Issue I want to say I tried switching to usb 3.0 when I was trying to figure it out but I couldn’t swear to it... I’ll give it a try again. I appreciate the reply!
@@EposVox I appreciate the help again. I ended up finding the Audio controller and it turns out the USB issues was due to a crappy cable and not the USB slot itself.
i'm not a gamer but doing research on capture cards to upgrade my ability to do virtual content for work meetings. any reason this wouldn't work for zoom with a gopro 8?
Will work great with that as long as your GoPro has HDMI out!

Just about everything is being bought up and marked up because of the round Bois. Check prices on the Avermedia live gamer mini and the live gamer portable 2plus, and the earlier version of this card he mentions at the beginning. They're not perfect but they're ok. I use the latter 2 myself. But that's only if you can get them near pre Rona pricing

Having a streaming issue with this card. Every time I stream on Twitch using my single PC, I'm getting dropped frames. I've lower the stream output and quality settings (720P and 1600x900) and still having issues. I've tried 1080P on various refresh settings for the capture card, no changes. I would say I can do 10min in and get dropped frames. The cheap capture card you just recommended doesn't show this issue at any settings I throw at it. Any experience with capture cards dropping frames? I am using a 3900x, 2070 Super, NVENC for the stream, 6000bit as I have 15 upload speed
What application are you using? I have issues with streamlabs OBS, but regular works fine

@@EposVox I also noticed that my network connection dropped 2 times. I think the USB port and network port was on the same bus. Can it be so? I couldn't debug the entire network because I was on a schools network. Maybe something else crashed? Ordered a PCI USB 3.1 card maybe this helps.

No 1440p, and no 120 plus fps was a deal breaker. Was hoping I'd get a card for under $200. All I want is a capture card that will record my game play at 1440p 120fps. I really don't want to spend $275 after taxes just to record a game.
Well if you’re on PC you don’t need a capture card, they generally only make performance worse on single PC setups. Otherwise the Live Gamer Ultra is 200 and under on eBay. It’s the only USB card that really does it
