Since the beginning of sound and life each culture had it's music and their subgenres and the mixtures that came with the interaction between different cultures. Do not try to claim music and tag it with a race. Music is music, and good music can touch any living soul no matter the appearance, background or language. House music began in Brooklyn NYC ... Franky Knuckles. He played uptempo records at a black gay club in Chicago called the WareHOUSE... which is where the music got its name from. Nobody was playing that kind of music or had even heard it before. They didn't know what to call it so they just called it "house". Similar to "Garage" which took its name from the style of music Larry Levan was playing at The Paradise Garage Club in NYC which was mostly a black gay crowd. Larry Levan was a black DJ, Haitian , and gay. RIP Do your research please. House like Jazz, Rock n Roll, Hiphop, Blues, Gospel, RnB, Soul, Funk, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Reggae, Samba, Mambo, Soca, Calypso... is all music created by African slaves and their descendants. Techno started in Detroit.
