No dis to my Puerto Rican bros. You guys made a huge contribution to the development of breakin and toprock, but I have evidence this initially came from African American of the 50s ( Uprock or Brooklyn Rock) and early 70s (breakin)

+DA TRUTH House music has nothing to do with the noises you and the pots and pans made when you received an asswhoopin at your house in the bronx... House music is European (white) and i ain't even white, it's only being accepted now by blacks because of r&b vocal mixes that reach from plain r&b to dance and extend to house. Many music genres have been constructed by blacks, but house and techno are not. Since the beginning of sound and life each culture had it's music and their subgenres and the mixtures that came with the interaction between different cultures. Do not try to claim music and tag it with a race. Music is music, and good music can touch any living soul no matter the appearance, background or language. This is house music, it's a sound, vibe and feeling. In America the first group of people to embrace house music where gay people.
House music began in Brooklyn NYC ... Franky Knuckles. He played uptempo records at a black gay club in Chicago called the WareHOUSE... which is where the music got its name from. Nobody was playing that kind of music or had even heard it before. They didn't know what to call it so they just called it "house". Similar to "Garage" which took its name from the style of music Larry Levan was playing at The Paradise Garage Club in NYC which was mostly a black gay crowd. Larry Levan was a black DJ, Haitian , and gay. RIP Do your research please. House like Jazz, Rock n Roll, Hiphop, Blues, Gospel, RnB, Soul, Funk, Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Reggae, Samba, Mambo, Soca, Calypso... is all music created by African slaves and their descendants. Techno started in Detroit.

Damn! That is too awesome! I saw that you teach at my school (Carleton)... I'm going to sign up for your class next semester, just to see you dance! That alone is well worth the small fee.
