I couldn't agree more! I put one of your tutorials forward on the Ableton Twitter page as they were asking which ones we rated the most highly. Great work!
You probably make the best Ableton how-tos and lessons I've seen on YT. Nice visuals and very clear explanations! And of course also what you review! Simply, thank you! :)
love resonators! I remember when I slapped a bunch of resonators on some vinyl crackle for the first time while experimenting and my mind was blown. so much textural possibility with this device
ELPHNT and Seed To Stage are simply the best at doing Ableton tutorials! Always nice and interesting ways of using the program...Thanks for the videos, dude!!
Thank you so much for this! Iv been finding my niche in sound design more is in randomly generated sounds presented in a musical manner and I'm sure this is gonna provide a lot of inspiration! Keep up the great work
This is fantastic! I'd never found a use for Resonator before now. Managed to use this technique to get some really amazing sounds by controlling a Resonator over the Quanta granular synth
who needs Mutable instruments Rings and thousands of dollars of eurorack synth modules when you have ableton and these incredible and easy to use M4L devices??
Such fantastic tutorials mate, incredibly inspiring. I love that your content really enables one to go explore and experiment, rather than just rote-teaching some specific technique. Easy easy sub from me looking forward to more content.
Pretty much, yeah. There are definitely some differences in sound, but for the most part you can achieve the same things much easier with Spectral Resonators in Live 11 🤷♂️
Amazing video exactly what I've been looking for! Anyone else having problems with the resonator just randomly stopping effecting the signal of the audio that its effecting. Im running into a problem where half way through making my track I'm only getting the dry audio signal?
Hey mate, thank you for these wonderful devices, i wanted to tell you that we are going to make a tutorial series in spanish covering out teachers "fav" vids, and this is one of them, of course you will be named and linked to this channel, we are trying to build an spanish channel with data that is not explained in our languange, so i invite you to visit us and see our tutorials as well, we are a certified training center in Santiago de Chile.
With this level of creativity one needs a different approach to structure and finishing tracks cause of its' rather experimental/avant-garde nature. Can you make video about that? I am really into new wave producers of avant-garde electronica or even pop that use these sort of sonic palette but can't get my head around the song structure cause subtractive arrangement does not really work. Thank you! PS: examples would be: Lapalux, A.A.L., Sevdaliza
I'm currently working on some content around arrangement and finishing music, so hopefully this sort of thing will be covered! Keep an eye out for that 😊
Seriously fantastic tutorial. I'm already ripping into this. I just had one question... and forgive me if is stupidly dumb... but I've noticed that despite having the Dry/Wet signal set to 100% in the Resonator .. sometimes the clip that is playing... in my examples it's drum samples... will still be really dominant in the overall resonator sound. Is there a way for the sample to trigger the resonator but reduce the original sample sound more? ie if i wanted to erase it completely? Thanks again. You're videos are awesome !
That's just kind of how the Resonators work, you'll always have some of the original quality of the material being processed. There are some things you can do in the new Spectral Resonators in Live 11 to blur the input signal a bit, but you'll still always have some characteristics of the original in there.
So it sounds like the bcresoncntrl plus resonator were the precursor to the Spectral Resonator device in Live 11. Can anyone think of differences this work flow has over the new one?
If you wanna be reeeeeaaaaly nitpicky, then I suppose there are some slightly different sounds you could get out of the Resonator devices compared to Spectral Resonators, so this technique still makes a little bit of sense but, for the most part, I'm just using Spectral Resonators to do the same thing now.
I stuill don't fget how to make the bcResonctrl work. I can't manage to succesfully use the sounds of the chopped chords to saound as if they were midi notes. sombody's willing to help? hot stuff anyway
Bummer. Looks like the device has been taken down 😕 The new Spectral Resonators in Live 11 does pretty much the same thing but better though anyways, so... 🤷♂
You should be able to use all 5 of the Resonators notes to play chords. It can be a little sketchy with very high or low MIDI notes though, so just watch out for that.
I dunno where tp begin. Production quality? Content uniqueness? Information quality? Respect.
Thank you! 😊

Using follow actions to cycle between different clips here was very nice.
That percussion loop just became a super saw synth… absolutely mind blown
Thanks for covering all these Max4Live devices I would not have know about otherwise !

Thank you for this; I've been vainly trying to convince friends to try Resonator for like a year and a half now with little success lol.
Very cool. I'm definitely going to explore this technique.
Oh here we are casually doing Max Cooper's music with two plugins. Amazing. Your videos are the cleaneast Ableton tutorial of Yt. thanks so much!!
You're welcome! Just a heads up that these devices have kinda been superseded by Spectral Resonators in Live 11, so you might wanna check that out 😉
I would use this years ago in my breaks for percussion in deephouse tracks, it was awesome, gotta use it again more often

Hands down one of the best tutorials I've been binging on. Sparks inspiration just looking at the possibilities. Top Work!

If it were possible to thumbs up twice, I would! So here's another as this is so cool!!! 👍
I've been dreaming about a way to play the resonators like this. Thank you!
You my man are an absolute legend, can't wait to see your channel grow to continue spreading such a deep level of knowledge!
Seriously man, your content is highly educational!!! You make everything very simple and I think this is what people needs.Great work!!!!
Excellent technique, thank you so much for sharing!

Great video! Inspired in all sorts of ways now, you’ve given me some great ideas there
really unique technique
Very detailed and helpful. Thx

holy moly you just blew my mind
is there a vanilla suite device for this in L.11.
great thx for your Tips..

Cool video very creative
Thank you, sir.
can the resonator be bought so i can use it in a different DAW?
Probably not but I’m pretty sure you can just search up free resonators on Google and you’ll easily find some
Excellent. Thank you
Thanks so much
love this

@@ELPHNT if you like we can help you with that ...
Great vid! This is essentially a vocoder right?
Thanks
Thanks, dude good job ;)
So cool!
Would it be wrong to say that its sorta like an auto tune plugin if the dry/wet was at 100%?
great stuff! love the operator patch too, how can I achieve it? I've tried copying the parameters on screen but mine doesn't quite sound the same...
Basically, just turn off everything and set Operator A to sine waves. That patch is just pure sine waves.
Oh boy this is epic

I agree with Gunes Oral, your work is so much appreciated. Thank you very much!
mine doesnt make any sound other than a slight beep at the start of each chord
WOW !!!!
Can i get an alterative for FL Studio??
noooo fuckin way!! that’s beautiful :O lovely :* i love your mind man!!!
You gained a sub ;)
Wow
Nice! That sounds quite similar to Mutable Instruments Rings.
Yup, it's based on a similar concept
the link for the BCRESONCTRL no longer works. DO you have an alternative DL link?
Should be fixed now.
bcResonCtrl is no longer available for download. Can you recommend other plugins that do the same thing?
The download is fixed! Also check out the new Spectral Resonators in Live 11 which do a pretty similar thing.

Does the resonator automatically put it in key?
No. If the audio you feed into the Resonators is not in key then it won't be put in key.
Dub techno for days
I can't find Resonators for some reason. Is this a M4L device that doesn't come with A10 Suite?
Resonators itself is not a MaxForLive device, so you'll find it in the regular Audio Effect category 😉
