    I just returned from a 5000 mile journey. The pegs were a life saver on days we did 700 miles plus. Just FYI the pegs will scrap before the foot pegs. Nice thing is if you know you are going to the twisty they come off and on easily without removing the plastic.

      Hey Pete...I have an inseam of 34". I assume that I am going to absolutely need highway pegs, right? Bike is on order so I haven't done any highway cruises yet.

      Nyte Bytez you won’t have to have highway pegs, unless you are going to be riding serious miles. On long rides I ride from full to empty. Before I put these on my knees were screaming. Rivco has come out with pegs that are safer then my option, although I find them ugly I may get a set due to I would like pegs that won’t interfere with cornering

      Petes.. one question: when you complete the 700 miles in one day... how did you feel about the seat.? I had to stop every 100 miles … no more than 120 because the pain was unbearable.

      Jhonathan Rivera Yeah I can be okay to my first gas stop, but after that, 100 miles I just can’t wait to get off my ass.

    Hi Fellow Wing owners. Yes, I was going to tell you that they scrape, but I read your comment. If you enjoy leaning the bike as much as I do, they will scrape and not very gently. I came with this same idea too before seen your video. The opening left by the cover was driving me crazy. I was thinking about trimming the plastic piece, BUT there is a much better solution. Show Chrome make this "Engine guard Opening Trim" P/n 52-932 for $28 on amazon. They did a great job except it doe not goes around completely. It only cover 3/4 of the entire border, leaving the very bottom uncovered. I decided to go with the AeroPegs from Rivco because they will be impossible to scrape in the close position. The people from GoldStrike is coming with great new products. However, my brother has the Goldstrike pegs and they also scrape too, just like this ones. If you ride relaxed they will be fine. Hope this help someone.

      I did end up changing to the aero pegs. I ride to aggressively for my home made ones, even though they did the job.

    Thank you for the video Pete. I returned the universal highway pegs that I ordered for my 18 Wing because they looked like they don’t belong. Someone needs to design some pegs that work and look decent.😎👍🏻

    I would take a piece of bike cycle intertube rubber and put inside of the u clamp to keep it from slipping.

      @Petesmotoadventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ended up taking those off because I would drag them around corners.

    About to order the National cycle GL Comfort Bars. Looks like more tip over protection and can Mount pegs. But. Will give up some of the clean look for more protection.

    Go gators. What brand r those ? I’m looking at the Rocco’s in black for my 22

      I made these the parts are in the description bellow. I switched them due to they do drag in high lean angles. I am now using the Rivco they are nice. I am think of also putting the Goldstrike 3d pegs on as they don’t fold up like the Rivcos.

    How much forward and back room is there on the bar? Does the plastic limit that?

  • @farmerboy8940
    @farmerboy8940 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My question is.....are you satisfied with these pegs after riding for any long distances. Seems to be a pretty easy and staight forward solution, and if it is this simple, why other aftermarket places have not released something from now.....as the missing plastic cover that is missing should be relatively easy to make a different cover that is missing.

      william pollitt so far I’m happy with them. Only did a short ride 75-100 miles and just being able to stretch out made my knees very happy. Rivco is making a solution but I feel it is over kill and they are ugly. I’m leaving on a 9 day trip so I will have an update in a few days.

      Oklahoma Hank they will scrap before the foot pegs.

      Petes1800 Thanks! Rode about 115 miles today. This is my first big bike so I am riding very cautiously, no peg scraping yet.
      I measured them at 2.5 inches out from the tip over bar.
      They could be slightly lower and further back for comfort, but they are a great addition.
      I have a bunch of farkles waiting at the dealer, but all I have done so far is Lid Lox, pigtail for battery tender, Utopia backrest, and the pegs.

    Are footboards not available as an option from Honda? Why would they put that opening on the engine cover ? Is it not for oem footpegs?

  • @roadglide
    @roadglide 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don’t know about these pegs but I do know about the Rivco Pegs. Checkout Cruiseman’s Garage on the Rivco CNC’d Highway Peg kit. The Rivco’s are awesome! A must have.

    • @Petesmotoadventure
      @Petesmotoadventure  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Road Glide I knew the Rivco were coming out just didn’t have time to wait to get them before my trip. I may or may not get them as I’m satisfied with my solution for now. Cruiseman does make great how to videos.

    Height above peg clearance? What happens on a twisty road? It looks like it would make ground contact before your foot peg?

    • @Petesmotoadventure
      @Petesmotoadventure  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      James B. Haven’t measured them, although I purposely tried to drag them, the foot pegs hit first. Plus they fold back, they aren’t hard mounted out.

    Great video! Having recently test rode the new 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT model, l was wondering where one would attach highway pegs, :-) Do you feel any heat on your shins, as they look like they are almost touching the engine? Thank You for sharing. Safe Travels.

    • @Petesmotoadventure
      @Petesmotoadventure  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Triketacular no more heat than normal. I do where a high boot that helps. It actually cools me down since I get some air flow.

  • @russellhorn6372

    I guess I'm in the minority as I don't like highway pegs for the simple reason that in an emergency, your feet are away from the controls. It only takes a couple of seconds to bring your feet back, but will you have that much time? In warm weather it is also going to put your legs closer to the hot engine.

    • @Petesmotoadventure
      @Petesmotoadventure  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Russell Horn I understand your concerns about emergency situations. I had highway pegs on my 2007 wing and it felt hotter than my 2018 does. Since the faring is narrower than the previous model more air hits your legs.

    I have trouble getting U bolts to clamp tight on round bars. Did the pegs ever turn down under foot pressure?
    If you reversed the clamp would it sit higher up?

    • @Petesmotoadventure
      @Petesmotoadventure  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oklahoma Hank the clamp has not moved yet. It has some fine machined teeth to prevent it from slipping. I can move them around slightly but not any higher.

    Do you recommend a battery tender for a GW?

    • @Petesmotoadventure
      @Petesmotoadventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on how often you ride. If mines been sitting for a week or so I’ll out it on to charge. I never leave them plugged in all the time.

    • @Petesmotoadventure
      @Petesmotoadventure  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      CatatonicBug they work fine. They will drag if you are aggressive in leaning. I ended up putting the rivco pegs on.

    Ummm.... it just don't look right to me. Just like I think that there needs to be a Cover over were the Engine and Trans meet. But if you are happy with it, then I guess that's all that matters. But like you said, you will only be using them for longer Trips.

    Leave highway pegs to the "Horrible Harley's", they spoil the sleek lines on a Goldwing.

    Just a little constructive feedback - maybe start with how you took off the cover, your video started with it already off which is pretty useless. Besides that great informative video, but I don;t like how it looks with the opening where debris can get inside and build-up.

      Robert M yeah I totally forgot to shot that part. Lucky it’s super easy to get them off. Really did t have that much gunk in there after my last trip.

    May have to pass on these. I scraped the headers and plastic engine guard covers on the dragon. These may have lifted the front wheel in a nice sweeper. They look nice though.

    This just looks like crap! There are way better options with much better connection points and adjustability. Waste of money!

      Hi John and thanks for watching. This video was done over 4 years ago when the 2018 Goldwing was just released. There were zero aftermarket parts at the time. I had to come up with something for a long trip so that’s what I did. I have since installed the Rivco pegs. For me it was not a waste of money because it was my money.
