As a kid, I didn't know anything about wheels being cheap or not. I just always ground them down until they wouldn't roll any more. 😆 Thank you for the review. I haven't ridden in decades but I'm thinking about getting back into it for the sake of my kids. I was thinking about getting a pair of Zetrablades for myself and these for my wife who has never ridden before. I know for hockey skates typically you want to get a 1 piece chassis so they don't bend if you are a weighty adult. Does the same concern apply to rec/fitness skates like these?
Thank you for the comment. Ah, to be a kid again. I remember skating with ice skates that had been sharpened so many times the blades were only a couple mm and the plastic would hit the ice on hard cuts. Same idea! Im over 200lbs and the plastic Two piece chassis on the rollerblade models held up for me on the Zetrablades. That being said I skate strictly for fitness on super smooth pathways. If you're planning on using them for more than a couple years and you're around the 200lb mark it's probably a good idea to upgrade to the metal chassis on the macroblade for an extra $50. I have a pair that are 3.5 years old, on thier 3rd set of wheels and they are still one of my most comfortable pairs. I doubt the plastic chassis Zetrablades would stand up like they have. Hope that helps! Awesome you're getting back into skating. I also noticed you put a screenshot of Strava for your test skate. How are you categorizing your skate outings? I only see run, cycling and swimming. Keep up the good work with the videos.
Hello! I didn't compare them directly head to head (one right after the other) but from recent memory the bearings and frames felt pretty much identical from the Zetrablades to these. The only big difference I noticed was the quality of the wheels and shape of the boot. The Zetrablades definitely come equipped with more durable wheels and a slightly different shaped boot (same as the macroblade line). Did you notice more flex in the frame? That would be quality info for anyone reading these comments considering a pair. I have a Suunto watch and it has an inline skate option. @@TheLastHonestInfluencer Thanks for the reply. I guess it’s a good sign that you didn’t notice that BRs were super creaky or bendy. @@jsonlee01 Cheers man! Thank you for commenting! It is a great idea to monitor your heart rate while inline skating at the start. When I started using them for serious endurance training last season I was wiping myself out because I was training at 160+bpm for 60-90 mins per day...because the perceived effort is so much different than running (I think because of the way the speed feels). Hi Max! Major bummer on the wheels, too bad as they are a great boot, sorry to hear you had the same experience. I bought a few sets of wheels from Amazon that looked good but wore down after only a few skates just like these. The best 80mm replacement wheels I have found are hands down the K2 boosters. I use them on all my Rollerblade models too. They wear extremely well and come with great bearings. They are a little on the pricey side ($15 more than rollerblade brand) but worth every penny as I get about 800-1000km out of them when rotated compared to only 500km(ish) from the Rollerblade brand. Unfortunately they are sold out everywhere (including from K2). This website has the best price and shipping: www.inlinewarehouse.com/K2_Booster/descpage-21405.html They have said they will be in stock in the near future since March tho so I'm not holding my breath.
