I bought these on sale for $65 and replaced the wheels for some Rollerex XVT 80mm 84A ,8 pack for $25. On Amazon, These skates are great. Highly recommend if your on a budget.
I probably laughed more than I should have at the sound the brake made. Great review. Always wondered if the best selling skates on Amazon were helping people get into the sport or deterring them from continuing. Looks like they hold up pretty well for the price.
Thanks! Not sure how it’ll land but I think people need to know they’re not getting crap with these. They’re actually pretty good and for $80 hard to beat.
I just bought mine and am getting back to blading after over two decades! I’ve already bought replacement wheels due to this video and other reviews, so thanks for the demo on that!
Iv'e had these and have used them long term so here are so here are some extra things 1. the laces on my right foot wore out and snapped after...2 to 3 weeks of regular use 2. the wheels are only 78a hardness so they were gone after 3 hours of outdoors skating (way to soft to last) 3. the bearings will very easily build up dirt and debris (after a few times around the park i skated at they started to make an audible grinding noise...yes there was some play sand on the ground) 4. with larger skaters there is a noticeable flex in the plastic frame and boot (to be far when I started i was 6.4 and 260+lbs) 5. after breaking in the skate I noticed that the boot displaced and stretched to the point of being to lose no matter how much I tightened it (lots of unusual flex at the arch and toes of the skate) 6. the hardware started to break and strip at the heads just after a few wheel rotation (yes i was using the tools it came with)
Oh! so that's why my crossover turns don't work so well turning left! I didn't even realize I was subconsciously making bigger strides due to the break on my right foot. Thanks for the useful commentary! (I have another skate, but your videos give good tips regardless of specifics).
Those soft wheels wear down too fast & truth be told, they will end up having to replace the wheels & bearings, which is why you should get better quality , but just look for the closeouts & leftovers!
Idk why people care about wheels wearing down so much.. it’s all about cruising and everything feelin smooth. I wish more aggressive skates came with soft wheels. They would back in the day
@@alexstewart4045 why doesn't it matter if wheels wear down, arent they unwearable then. im trying to buy skates for first time, but dont wanna break my bank account aha, you got any sugegstions?
Just bought these a couple of weeks ago and have been teaching myself on them. Never thought to watch a review video before buying them lol. The wheels definitly wear fast as I've found out by learning to stop not using the heel break. Great video man. Any wheel suggestions if I were to replace these and keep the boot for now?
Great review and vid as always man! I just picked up a pair of these for my stepson. There are some amazing deals out there right now and I was able to find a new pair in an opened box for $30 shipped!
Skating getting more popular and more expensive. The size 11's are $100 on Amazon. I'm thinking I might make the dip and try them, I'm just learning so as long as I stay on pretty smooth concrete and the wood floor at the skate rink I should be good even on those wheels I would think.
How would you compare these to the Macroblade 80/ABT? Seeing how you did a power slide to stop would lead me to believe that the wheels are a harder density around 85A maybe?
Didn't know this was made by rollerblade. I just figured it was another cheap department store offbrand since I saw it at big 5. Unfortunately all out of stock for my size, all that's left is the roller derby branded ones.
excellent review. the roll looked very smooth. with the sizing. it might we worth going down 1 size, with a soft boot it will stretch to accomodate after a few hours. that noise the brake made though. it sounded like me after eating paprika chicken. hahah. all the best.
the heel brake is actually really effective at stopping if you do it properly, maybe even more so than T-stopping. I think most people just don't really know that you have to sit your butt down into it and get a good knee bend so that you can forcefully push into the ground. Shaun of Shop Task did a video comparing different braking methods at high speed and he was able to stop the fastest with the heel brake. th-cam.com/video/Aw-dGSh61q4/w-d-xo.html
Awesome review, been keen to see how these worked out for you. Are you going to see if they hold up to a little more urban style skating? Also the footage looks good, I'm guessing the whole thing was done on the 360 cam? The color, definition, and even fluidity is better than your usual action cam. 👍
I totally meant to ask would you be able to tell me what size the axle is so when I remove the brake, I can replace it with the proper one, rather than using washers? Thanks so much!
I have the Bladerunner Formula 84, which have a similar design to these. Overall they're pretty darn good, but the bolts on the insides behind those big, silver ankle pieces rub very hard into my ankle. Actually wore the skin down, which took three weeks to heal. Did you run into similar issues?
I have skates just like these (I am a beginner) I would love to go to the skatepark. Would these be okay for be to use there? I'm just concerned since they are soft shelled but I seem to do really well on them

Ahh, welcome back. If you’re an aggressive skater try the USD sway. They’re a great boot, great soul and are UFS so you can ride any frames/wheels you want.
You could put some washers between the axle and the frame to make it work, but it’ll still stick out a bit. Probably not a big issue but I wish they just included them in the box
If I want to remove the brake off these boots, what size axles should i buy? also any recommendations on new wheels and bearings? or at that point should I upgrade to entirely new skates
You’ll need an 8mm axle, any skate shop should have them on stock. For the wheels it’s really your call how much you like the boots. New quality wheels will run at least $40 if not $60.
@@BacktoBlading Thanks for the reply. I think I'm gonna get a pair of these. I need to lose weight and I've got many industrial parking lots near me like in your video. nice review, but one little nit-pick I have is that the heel brake is actually a really effective method for stopping if you know how to do it properly.
