    Thank you so much for the video tutorial and the written instructions. I absolutely love this stitch and had fun making this basket! I used Bernat Maker yarn, and it turned out beautifully. I enjoyed learning from you and your lovely accent!

    I love this basket and found the perfect yarn from B&M which is Trimm cable knit luxury knitting yarn in mustard or grey 150g balls at £3 each, I needed four and a half balls. I also found that doing an extra single crochet round at the end with the handles before doing the last slip stitch round made a stronger top edge.

    I’ve made two of these and I love them! A great way to use up extra chunky wool. Thank you.

    AWESOME! Still learning the diagonal chevron hdc, but the technique for the base has solved my problems with baskets. So grateful❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

    This is a beautiful basket and I love how it looks finished. It would be nice to give a suggestion of how many skeins of the super chunky yarn is needed for the size basket you made so that enough yarn could be purchased of the same color. Thanks for this tutorial.

      Thanks so much! You can find more details about the yardage required here: nedandmimi.com/chunky-crochet-basket-pattern/
      It's a bit difficult to give a number of skeins because not all super chunky yarn has the same yards in 1 skein! Yards/metres is more accurate than number of skeins :-)

    Just made this for my mom. I’m so excited. This was a perfect tutorial, thank you!

    It would be great to see a clear view of where you’re placing your hook for the waistcoat Stitches. Your crocheting so quickly and your hands are covering the stitch placement.

      It definitely looks like a normal sc.... Unless I've been sc wrong 😳

      That's exactly what I thought!

      I'm feeling the same, the pattern itself looks super easy, but working with the yarn I have all the legs almost merge together! Being able to see what the difference between WC and SC is would be grand, so now I need to find another tutorial for the stitch 😂

    • @LustyVictoria
      @LustyVictoria 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Update, I understand the difference!
      The easiest way to see it when you first start using the stitch is from the back, the SC has the V on the top, and a small bump at the back (sort of like looking at the thumb and first two fingers of your right hand - palm down).
      You need to get your hook under the V and this bump for your stitch to go through the 'legs' of the SC to make it a WC. So it's like your hook going under your fingers and thumb for WC as opposed to under just your fingers for the SC!
      It's an odd analogy, but I hope it helps someone!!

      @@LustyVictoria Thank you. I did find some other videos as well. This is also called the Split Single Crochet Stitch and I was able to see the work easier in those videos. My tension is so tight, I’m still having difficulty getting it to work properly. But I still keep picking it to and trying every now and then.
      I like this basket in particular and want to make it. I just need to work on my gauge/tension a bit more first.

    What was round 3? There was no audio

      @nedandmimi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bonnie, yes there is no audio on this row but the video does included it! The pattern is [2 sc in next st, sc in next st] all the way around, I hope that helps?

    If you wanted to make this basket bigger, would you suggest just repeating Round 11 again and again?

    • @elsamcguire2519
      @elsamcguire2519 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I personally added a single crochet for each stretch of singles between the increases. So the next row had one more single, then the next would have another. So for row twelve, I had ten singles between the increases. And row thirteen, I placed eleven singles. Hopefully that helps!

    What are the directions for round two and three? I'm stuck

  • @consciousness147
    @consciousness147 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why not work 2 stiches in each st? Sc Inc all the way round, would that not be a simpler round base? Or would it not end up flat? 🤔

    The waistcoat stitch looks like a single crochet stitch. Are they the same?

    • @nedandmimi
      @nedandmimi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Dawna, the waistcoat stitch is really a variation on the single crochet, but instead of working through the top two loops you are working into the center "v" of the single crochet. I like this video if you want to see it a little more closely: th-cam.com/video/cdSfYr5Su0g/w-d-xo.html

    Where did you buy these stitch markers?

    • @nedandmimi
      @nedandmimi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Charlotte, apologies for the delay! I can't find the exact brand that I have but they were very inexpensive, here is a link to very similar ones: shrsl.com/3jusn
      If you are searching online, or in a store, you will want to look for "split ring stitch markers" as opposed to locking stitch markers. Hope this helps :-) Sarah
