No-one ever seems to mention the connection between the round number and the number of sts in the repeat when crocheting the base. Example: R2 has 2 sts in the repeat. R3 has 3 sts (inc, dc) in the repeat. R4 has 4 sts (inc, dc, dc) in the repeat, etc. I have always found this helpful to keep track of where I am up to. Love this basket Toni. The stitch is beautiful.

I have made this basket so many times. It is the first project I ever did and I keep coming back to it for gifts. I have adjusted the height to make a tray version and adjusted the base to make nesting baskets- great for kids. Thanks so much for this fun and easy pattern!!

Thanks for the pattern, you're a great teacher! I wanted a slightly smaller basket so I skipped round 6 of the base, and for the handles did 7 chains skip 5 stitches and then 9 single crochet in the space. Came out great! I could definitely see myself making many more of these.

I just want to comment to say if anyone is interested in making this and is concerned about it, you should definitely try it. The hardest part is at the beginning, and it's not even hard it's just that sometimes you might get lost in trying to remember where you are in the pattern when making the bottom portion. This project is simple and quick and will make you feel good about finishing something. I also like that it's pretty reasonable to make adjustment to it for a wider base or taller sides without too much complication. I made it slightly wider at the bottom and with shorter side walls to hold loose items that are on my night stand. This instruction video is super clear. I really appreciate this tutorial!

I am an experienced crocheter and I must compliment you on your clear and detailed explanations. What I would have liked to see at the beginning of the video or in the description would have been some indication as to the height and diameter of the finished basket. When I've finished my present project I look forward to making one of these as a stash buster but I shall add a few rows to the base to make it larger.

Thanks Toni for the tutorial. I had a hard time at first using such thick yarn with a skinny metal crochet hook.I found an old plastic crochet hook in the size needed that had a thick shaft which was much easier on my hands. I finished mine today and I’m pretty pleased with the outcome. It would be nice to know how many vertical waist coat stitches to pick up at the end of the first round of the sides. I must have done something wrong because I was off by 3 waistcoat repeats when it came time for me to crochet the handles. I did find it difficult to see where to place my hook to create the waistcoats on the very first round. It didn’t really matter tho, my basket still looks great.😊

I just finished it and I love it! I used a skein of the succulent and one in the color wheat. I used the two colors together and almost ran out of the succulent. I finished with less than five yards of the succulent left and roughly 16 of the wheat. Not sure how I managed to do that but I’m just glad I won yarn chicken.

Oh this is cute! I was thinking of making a basket bc the stash is getting… crazy lol I’ve only been crocheting for about half a year and I already have gone overboard lol I’m gonna have to find some bulky yarn to do this! Maybe combining some colors or something
