    John Gibbons is a registered Osteopath, Lecturer and Author he is promoting his unique online kinesiology taping course that you are able to attend.
    This online course is based on my hugely popular clinic-based training and uses my Amazon Bestselling book “A Practical Guide To Kinesiology Taping”.
    Any physical therapist involved with assessing, treating and rehabilitating sports related injuries, or even patients that present with back and neck pain, will need to master Kinesiology Taping.
    Kinesiology taping is definitely the current buzzword in the field of sports medicine. This brightly coloured tape is now a very common sight at all major sporting events throughout the world and is even seen at some recreational activities. Therefore, therapists need to master the techniques. They are relatively simple to learn and once applied in a specific way can improve the performance of an athlete as well as reducing any pain and swelling.
    This course will give you a better understanding of both why and when to apply the Bodymaster Method® of Kinesiology Taping. It outlines how to effectively treat over 50 of the most common sports related injuries, with the application of scientifically proven kinesiology taping methods (KTMs), and includes treatment guidelines for specific areas of the body that a patient/athlete might present with at a physical therapy clinic, e.g. lower back, sacroiliac joint (SIJ) and cervical spine (neck).
    Key Benefits:
    The full book is included (PDF Format)
    More than 35 Instructional Videos
    Covers more treatments than the Clinic-Based Course
    Work at your own pace
    Gain the Bodymaster Certificate for K-Taping (Counts towards your Bodymaster Practitioner Diploma)
    Get 21 CPD points
    Once you complete your purchase you can log in using the username and password you set up during checkout. You will also receive an email receipt and links to your course.
    What You’ll Learn during this online course!

    Dr. Gibbons....thanks for the video. I'm a senior who plays lots of pickelball. I've recently strained my RF resulting in a small lump in the center of my left thigh. I'd like to continue playing while using your tape suggestion but will I continue to aggravate the RF and create a chronic problem? Any treatment advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi John;
    My 16 yo daughter is in soccer college camp today, yesterday she pulled out of a scrimmage because the inner high part of the quad was tightening. She was being extra careful because she's been off since March with an avulsion to the rectus femoris attachment on the other leg ( all healed) so she is not in game shape. How can I tape her today to help in keeping her from straining this other rectus? I watched this video, do I just do the same thing but move it further inside and tape the x higher up where the pain is? THANKS!!

    should I bend my knee when applying the tape?

    • @JohnGibbons
      @JohnGibbons  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Maher Alsayid I would bend the knee if you can as the tape is normally applied with muscle on stretch. In terms of healing - it depends on the severity of the tear - a minor tear only a few weeks but if it is a full thickness tear and you can physically feel a lump - then that will be potentially problematic for many months. Good luck

I’ve tried laser therapy, cupping and scrapping but it only gives me a temporary relief. It hurts when I sprint and squat. Left leg feels 100% and my right leg feels 70%.

    Hi John,
    Before 7 years I fell from 2 meters on a sharp object on the outside of the thigh. It was a huge bruise that I treated with ice. Muscle was ruptured. Over time, the hematoma collected and calcificated. It hurt on the touch and the weather changes. A year ago, I noticed while my practicing something tightens in place of calcification. It started to hurt at night and while walking. The pain is sharp as if it cuts me with sharp razor blade or drill bits. On the ultrasound and MRI writes that there is irregular course of muscle fibers with fibrosis in m.vastus lat. What is the prognosis and whether it might help me Kinesio tape.

    • @JohnGibbons
      @JohnGibbons  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Radmila Mitrovic Zakic If honest it might be a bit late to apply the Ktape - however it might help reduce the pain sop worth trying. Prognosis - it sounds like you have a condition called Myossistis Ossificans - whereby the bone cells have migrated into the muscle causing a calcification. It is very rare to have surgery for this condition but if they decide to operate then the ossification that is now located within the muscle fibres will need to be taken out so that means some of the muscle has to be taken out to remove the calcification. Hope that helps and good luck whatever you decide!!

      I would ask your PT to add in 'anterior oblique sling' exercises as these will incorporate the adductors with the internal obliques on the same side and external obliques with the serratus anterior muscle. It sounds complex but the exercise is very simple if done correctly will rehab the adductors in a more functional way. Google search might help.

    Hello Mr. Gibbons. On last New Year day after I got off my stationary exercise bike I felt the pain on my let leg quadricepts about thirty minutes later. I didn't feel any pain while I was on the bike. I felt a numb in the middle part of the rectus femoris. I have been taken ibuprofen pain pill. My doctor didn't think I had a tear; otherwise I would have felt it while on the bike. The area was swollen a bit now. I have applied cold/ice to the area and I also applied the hot water. I saw that with hot water. it made me feel better for a moment but it became more painful later. So, I stop hot water treatment now. Just wonder what is the right in home treatment and how long it will last and recovery period. Thanks. Victor Nguyen

      +qvn1975 Not sure if it is a tear of the Rectus Femoris due to the numbness feeling - it sound like you might have irritated the Femoral nerve and these issues tend to settle down quite quickly, stretching the quads will help as it will also stretch the nerve but not to often as it is easily irritated. Good luck!

      @@JohnGibbons It's been since March 23 the injury. What would be the best option? I feel as if the muscle is tender now, and not profusely pain because I can manage to breathe and sleep more then 5 hours, something I wasn't able to do until mid May. Although, I must admit my breath taking are larger than before this injury; not that my other injury didn't cause me worse wheezing, but I guess that's normal? It's just that I feel the Quad instead of being next to the knee/ insertion it's a little less then half way so when I try to squat I get a nice bulge that wants to stick out but not like my right quad which the orthopedic said even if it's nearer to my groin, no point of doing work on it, but I feel as if my ligaments under my knee are going to tear some day if I attempt sprinting on the field and more so now that both are torn/ affected. No disrespect to orthopedics especially to sports orthopedics, but I feel as if some are only specialized in bone/cartilage but not ligament to muscle.

      @@JohnGibbons Well, I believe people will go to great heights to achieve things to better themselves especially when it's in terms of emergencies. What's crazy is that I have MRIs and the doc didn't know how to fix it even. I guess American football here is all about the knees, and ankles, but not legs, who needs quads right? Lol

  • @Metalpazallteway

    Hello Mr. Gibbons, I have a question I recently about a month and half ago I suffered a inner quad strain or tear I don't know exactly. Although, when I received the injury from a low soccer ball game pass I noticed how quickly my quad muscle turned to blue blackish color in the center of the quad. Every time I would I lay on the bed ever so just lifted the right quad slightly, a protuberance came about at the quad near the hip and a dent appeared in the center of the quad leaving me unable to flex the muscle properly. Presently, I still have the dent near the center of the quad, the protuberance of the unknown muscle eased up but the sting, in the center of the dented quad, while trying to even want to lift the leg or lightly jog, is still there. Due to not having insurance I wasn't able to be covered so I did not make an appointment with a doctor. What can be done for therapy for the dented muscle?

      I got the exact same thing. It's been 2 years now and therapy didn't help. The pain would come back and I finally got an MRI. Expecting surgery in 2 weeks hopefully the recovery process goes well.

I immediately pulled up and went to ground I could walk for 2 minutes. But now I can walk but can't lift my leg sidewards without severe pain or else I can't lift it. For everyone commenting that they strained their quad and want to play, DONT!! Please go to physical therapy and get some help to heal, then once you have gotten further in the healing process you can slowly get back into play WITH TAPE. But PLEASE don't go immediately into sprinting or running after straining your quad.

    Dear Mr. Gibbons, I am currently a student in high school. Three days ago, my teacher decided to incorporate squats into our workout. My left knee had been having incredibly joint pains but it was left untreated and still is. I could not use my left leg to stand up during a squat, so I transferred all of my weight onto my right leg during the squats. After 5 minutes they began to feel sore but that was normal. I went to bed and the next morning I couldn't walk. Straightening, bending and just using the muscle at the knees and the front of my leg would kill me, and walking up and down the stairs was like taking a stab to my body with every step. I have to do the squats along with many other workouts on Tuesday, in two days. However I am still a terrible amount of pain. Massaging it hasn't helped, and neither has ice. What do you suggest I do? My PE teacher does not take excuses unless I have an extreme excuse. How much longer will I be in pain? Please reply ASAP. Thank you so much.

    • @JohnGibbons
      @JohnGibbons  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Lani T Thanks for the message and it sounds like a Patella Femoral Joint issue you have and sounds like it is inflamed and more than likely the reason you have got the pain is probably due to your incorrect technique performing the squat and also you might have weak Gluteals muscles that can't stabilise the knee during the bending motion. I would see someone like me to guide you on the right path and short term avoid the squats as it wont really improve........Good luck, regards JG
