      As you saw, I bolted the brace down exactly how you had it done in your XR! It was a great idea, so I had to follow suit 😀
      Thanks again for the help with the trans. Your machine work and knowledge is second to none.

    Hi Rob, the time and dedication you are putting into restoring your XT is second to none. I have an XT Fairmont and one day I would like to get it back on the road. Please keep the videos coming as I enjoy watching them and I cannot wait to see the end product.

      I'll definitely keep the videos coming. Sometimes general life gets first priority and I might be a bit delayed like this video, but will keep them coming.
      Would love to see your XT project if you were local.

    Having pulled apart a few cars in my time, pay attention to the inside of rails and sills etc as a lot of cars rust from the inside, a great job.

      Yeah, I plan on spraying the insides of the rails with a rust inhibitor after it's all coated underneath.

    Great to see more progress on the XT Rob.
    Are you going with floor shift or column shift?
    It could make a good episode seeing you cut out the section on the tunnel before you paint the floor interior and epoxy the underside.
    Looking forward to the Barra turbo build, your XT may be a tyre frying beast as well as a super cool cruiser.
    I'm looking forward to the next episode of the build.

      Thanks Warren!
      Going floor shift, but not the traditional factory shifter, running a B&M Megashifter. I'll definitely pop a video of me installing that though!
      Hows the XY?
      See you on the next one mate 😎🤙

    • @warrenbrown5621
      @warrenbrown5621 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @RestoHubAU Cool, you only need to pre fit shifter and drill holes to mount it and one for the cable. I haven't been able to do anything on the XY for a few months 😕 hopefully I will get back into it again soon.

    • @RestoHubAU
      @RestoHubAU  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@warrenbrown5621 yeah good point. I may temporarily fit the driver seat, and pre fit the shifter before I prime underneath. 🤔
      Otherwise if I drill it after priming, I may have to touch up the exposed bare metal from drilling.

    Love the commitment and the attention to detail you showed on the underside. I’ve just been through it with my XE on a rotisserie and it was a bugger of a job. Hats off to you sir.

    I got a xtgt late 70s early 80s and pulled it apart and fixed it up, but to see the work you've done puts me to shame. Gr8 job. BTW I'm still playing with cars. I've taken a 67 Mustang 6 and am putting in a 302w t5 and 9". Thanks for your videos.

      Sounds like you were doing this when I was still a young tacker. XT GT, such an amazing machine. Do you still have it?

      Sadly no, back then I had to sell one car and move to the next, I swapped it for a mint landau and met my future wife, BTW she had a superbird, and life started kids house ect... seeing you with that xt really brings it all back. Thanks again. P.s I'm now going to pull the front end out of my 67 and convert it to disc brakes.

    Hey Rob, just found your channel yesterday. I've now watched every episode and am really enjoying them. I must admit that I'm glad you've just about finished the undercarriage, as I'm sure you are. Your meticulous approach is to be admired and will pay huge dividends I'm sure. Where did you get the XT from? It's in incredible condition. The fact that you're only dealing with surface rust is amazing.

      Hey Brendan
      Glad you found me 👌
      Appreciate you taking the time to watch all my videos. As you've probably seen, it's been quite the journey!
      Oh yes, I'm very glad to have the undercarriage now ready for next steps. The weather's too cold for priming now unfortunately, but as soon as we get some warm weather I'll be finishing it off!
      I picked up the XT about 16 years ago. 2 owner original super low milage. She's mint!
      I've been overseas and now about to get back into it - very keen to say the least.
      Stick around for more updates coming soon, see you on the next one mate👌😎

    i am doin a xf ute, thinking i might warm the epoxy primmer up by sitting it in hot water, before spraying, and warm metal up with a heat gun, not sure what the paint company thinks of that though.

    • @RestoHubAU
      @RestoHubAU  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment Jack.
      Your thoughts on heating the panel up, and also the epoxy aligns to the thoughts I got back from the manufacturer of the epoxy I use (RestoFinish). So I think you'll be fine! I'll most likely follow the same process if I decide to prime in the winter.
      Thanks again, and see you on the next one mate 😎🤙

      Thanks for the question Shane. I wiped over the bare metal with Dulux GP Thinners to remove any residues left over from the previous step.
