1975 International Scout II - a Vintage 4x4 Dream Come True | Built2Wander

- Collin's love for vintage 4x4s spans from early Ford Broncos to classic K5 Blazers and the elusive International Harvester Scout. The Scout II, in particular, piqued his interest for its rarity and timeless design. At the start of 2023, Collin's friend offered to sell his 1975 International Scout II, giving Collin the first opportunity to buy it. With an eagerness to restore it, Collin turned to Matt Thompson from 3D Off-Road to assess the Scout's potential for a resto-mod project. Matt gave the green light, and the project began.
In this episode of Built2Wander, Collin and Matt introduce their latest project: the Scout. They discuss their criteria for selecting it as a project vehicle and share the initial improvements made to make it roadworthy. They also hint at their plans for a complete frame-off restoration, including a modern drivability upgrade with a fuel-injected V8, aftermarket axles, and a more comfortable suspension.

Great flashback! When I was young, we had a Travelall for big summer roadtrips, then my dad bought a 2015 Scout, which I learned to drive offroad in on Vancouver Island logging roads.

i had a'73 International Travelall (back in the early 90's) with the faux wood panels on the sides,.. thing was a beast w/ a custom Holley carb and 392 (if i remember correctly), dual tanks.. it was the college party wagon..long live the "Hurler".. great lookin Scout!

Someone bondod over the line where the end cap meets the rear quarter. I’d just re-do the whole rear quarters and end cap especially since they’ve been cut.
What happen to all the 2WD model International Scout ll? They were available as an option...😅
I would go with a 70’s style paint scheme and look for some vintage slot style mag why.
Definitely plan to do a 70s inspired scheme of some sort! Haven’t gotten around to even thinking about wheels yet beyond the size 😅
It will be exciting to see what VW does with the Scout Brand. We know it will be electrified!

Where are you guys located? I'm am almost positive that is my old scout. I live up in Washington state. Can you tell me where you got it?
